“NO, Ilya,” Shane interrupts him, and Ilya greatly enjoys watching Troy’s head snap towards Shane, who glows like a freshly picked tomato.
And that’s fine, really. Being Shane Hollander’s husband means he has so much material to work with.
“Okay, well, what about the time you bought us a sex building?” he asks, and barely gets the sentence out before Zane Boodram makes a loud exclamation.
“A what now?” he asks, as the eyes of everyone on the plane flit back and forth from Shane to Ilya.
“Definitely not,” Shane snaps, and Ilya grins.
“What about the time you panicked so much you got into a relationship with Rose Landry because I said your first name?”
There’s an audible intake of breath, and Ilya watches as a number of emotions cross Shane’s face before it finally settles into something that looks resigned.
“Fine,” Shane says with a roll of his eyes, and the team cheers as Ilya’s smile grows so wide he knows his cheeks will start to hurt soon.
Ilya claps his hands in front of him. “It all started with tuna melts.”

“What are we doing?” Shane asks and Ilya holds out the other pair of skates he’d grabbed.
“Put these on,” Ilya says, and Shane takes them from him with a skepitcal look.
“Will these even fit me? And again, what are we doing? Are we even supposed to be here? I don’t think–”
“Shane,” Ilya interrupts, taking Shane’s face into his hands and squeezing just enough to make Shane’s lips pucker out. “You are going crazy at home. You love to skate. You love hockey. So let’s go skate. And play hockey. Just you and me, okay?”
Oh.
There’s so many things he wants to say. Like how much he loves Ilya. Or how glad he is that they’d taken the plunge off that scary, crazy cliff when they were teenagers. Or how even in the midst of the craziness and anxiety and unknown, Shane is so fucking excited for the life they’re going to have.
But it all gets caught in his throat as emotion takes hold, and all he can do is nod and say, “Okay.”

“It wasn’t a crime scene,” TK says. Then, when Carlos makes a strangled noise, he adds, “Yet…”
Carlos just stares. So TK, a genius, keeps going. “…it was pre-crime scene?”
“TK.”
“Okay, yes, it was a crime scene.”
“Thank you.”
Marjan lifts a hand slightly. “Technically, we discovered it, so—”

When a missing persons case lands on Carlos’s desk, it’s one he can’t shake.
When TK and Marjan find out about it, they're curious.
They're not investigating Carlos's case... it's just a harmless stop by the bakery. Until it quickly turns into something else...leading to unanswered questions, loose threads, and a discovery they were never supposed to make.
Carlos is exhausted.
Paul is entertained.
