Divine Absolutism

Summary:

Ever since the Zonai descended from the heavens, their goal as harbingers of the great gods has been to bathe the world in light in order to eradicate evil once and for all.

But the existence of light always brings its counterpart to flourish.

Notes:

Somebody pointed out that the Japanese Word that is engraved in Ganondorfs Stone can be translated to "Darkness"(And the people who wield a Stone are automatically becoming a sage) It's veryyy interesting bc the only sage who is Missing in Raurus group Is the Sage of Darkness/Shadow(But Rauru would clearly be the Guy that don't want a sage of Darkness in His group bc Darkness= evil) and It's nice to see that Rauru and Ganondorf are literally the opposite of eachother.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Rauru sighed in agony and turned his gaze up to the demonic sky where the bloody glow of the Blood Moon enveloped him and the entire temple, and both the guilt weighed on his shoulders for as long as the bloody glow bound him in its sickening burden of having lost the world so nimbly in a wave of demons.

The red noble glow of the blood moon could draw every single vicious demon into its noble bond, but not only demons considered the blood moon a sacred miracle, for even Rauru now finally understood that the glow of the blood moon and the miracle of the rebirth of demons was an important component of this world.

A component that he wanted to suppress from the world.

The very thought of it made him sick to show compassion and empathy towards demons and evil, thinking only of these lowly undesirable beings and their outlawed existence.

merely they, the noble Zonais were sent to the world by the great gods themselves as messengers to rule the land to create a perfect sacred world. Both to finally destroy the evil, which included those who despised the new system, whether human or demon.

Raurus' claw formed into an enraged fist, a fist he would gladly give himself out of frustration and misery at himself and his traitorous pride, but he saved his divine frustration for the demonic man who had permanently ruined the Zonais' task of creating a light-filled world.

The demonic man who took the form and ideology of a demon king, and also tried to turn the world he hated so much into one that remained righteous to him. Foolish. Just foolish to believe demons would be the solution to all this dilemma. Demons are insignificant stupid savages who will harm the land of the gods again and again, they belong to the outcasts of this world and will always remain so.

Rauru tried to bring the demonic man into his iron hand as he had done with all the other tribes in Hyrule, but it proved to be an overwhelming undertaking and so Rauru, as the first king of this mighty kingdom, had tried to force the independent desert people to be a part of his kingdom. Even if there should be sacrifices, because a light-filled sacred land can only be created if all the perpetrators of evil and possible wars were kept in his grasp.

Rauru gave a small chuckle as if he had now completely lost his mind as he remembered his purpose in leading the world to perfection.

"Your demons will not protect you Ganondorf."

"You will end just as the demons once ended when we purged the Sacred Land and made their demonic power our own, sealing them in our shrines until their bodies turned to dust." A loud jingle of jewelry sounded as Rauru moved his ears back.

"Even if I should sacrifice myself to seal you." Rauru turned his gaze to his right hand there, where his secret stone outshone the red glow of the blood moon with its brightness. "To take shelter among the demons only confirms that you Ganondorf, like the demons, belong to the outcasts who must be destroyed." A small whimpering sound slipped from Rauru's throat as he remembered the ancient words of the higher gods, which he could hear perfectly as well as his beloved sister with their enormous ears.

But since the rebirth of the Demon King, the voices remained silent.

The divine voices that were supposed to sustain them now in the times of war, instead only remained unanswered questions of their messages that they once delivered.

Spirit,Thunder,Wind,Fire,Water and the most important of them Light. These are supposed to be the chosen wise sages of this sacred land who are allowed to lead the divine powerful legacy of the Zonais, however, fate proved that a wise sage of time in the future would also get to find a stone and this was probably Zelda.

However, in the words of the gods there was still the mention of a sage of darkness.

"A sage of darkness...I don't need an evil presence on my side. " Rauru hissed in a plaintive tone as he looked out over the landscape, which was now covered by the outlawed glow of the blood moon, finally giving the Demons the warmth they never received from the world.

This made Rauru literally sick that the demons relished all of this. They should suffer after all the deeds they did to the gods, they must suffer and continue to suffer until they finally give up the land of the gods, especially their demon king deserves the highest punishment and suffering for giving up his own humanity and defying his divine creators.

Whoever wants to give up his humanity by his intrusive will, must also pay a high price not to be appreciated anymore...and this was the mistake Ganondorf succumbed to when he dedicated himself to his freedom and wanted to shape the world after his freedom and darkness. The demons were probably his only spark of hope to do this to be respected at least in a tribe as a liberator and rebirth king.

Tearful memories flashed through Rauru as he remembered the day as if it were yesterday, the day when the darkness slowly blossomed due to his great pride.

The day when he had the power to bring Ganondorf to his knees.

The day of the ceremonial when all the chiefs of the tribes swore their dependent allegiance to him and received a mask as a sign of his great power and alliance, a mask that was a sign of

whom they served.

      ~-------------------~

"As an independent tribe and the first son of the Gerudos in a century, I and my people do not accept this generous gift." Shocked mild groans of almost all the tribes resounded through the room of the throne room with anxious look to the rejecter of the gift in front of the great king of Hyrule.

"Why is it so not to accept my gift?" Rauru spoke in astonishment in a raised tone with his voice as he and his beloved queen sat at the throne to conduct the ceremony for the dependence of Hyrule.

Footsteps of Ganondorf approached the throne with the gift in his hand and the gaze averted from the other tribes, who could not open their mouths to look up for their privileges as Ganondorf did and instead accepted the masks to be nameless and faceless in the name of the king.

"We Gerudo remain independent and do not seek dependence from Your Majesty." The words of Ganondorf remained serious and powerful only to stand up for his people not like the other tribes who avoid it for fear and power of the Zonai.

The dragon-like devouring eyes pierced Ganondorf as he could only sense from the aura and tense atmosphere that Rauru could devour him with his light-filled power and take everything that was dear to him if he made a wrong mistake.

But despite the silent confrontation between the two, Ganondorf approached the king of Hyrule who looked at him like the prey he still is with his pride and ego that could still force anyone to the ground.

Ganondorf gently pushed the rejected gift of a mask in the shape of a camel to Rauru's chest with a disgusted face.

"We Gerudo will also do no part to turn the world to the supposed good, Your Majesty" Raurus' captivating eyes wrapped around Ganondorf like a predator and his jewelry rang softly through his ears as he turned his ears backward.

"I will be the opposite of your light Rauru".

Notes:

So…Am I the only one who finds Sonia and Rauru's relationship a bit... odd and weak in the game? Don't worry I still love the ship enormously because the two look so cute together but in the cutscenes I somehow never felt the tension between the two of them and if only sometimes and don't get me started on how Rauru was literally totally chill about the death of his lover.Yes he was briefly pissed off about Ganondorf killing Sonia but then one cutscene later he was like "Yep that happens" why? And don't get me started on the cutscene in the throne room where you see that Rauru's throne is bigger than Sonia's even though they created and ruled the kingdom together. Maybe Rauru was really a selfish king who didn't do good deeds that we didn't get to see because we were only told the story from their point of view and not the point of view of all the beings who detested him like all the demons, Gerudo when Ganondorf still ruled and really maybe the other tribes. And maybe it really can be that Rauru only married Sonia to interfere with the Hylians and gain power which I hope is not the case if.

But it is also nice to see that Ganondorf had this time a peaceful death not like his other Incarnations who got stabbed to Death bc when he transformed into a dragon he too was in a slumber just like Zelda and he really deserved it this time. It also sucks that the English translation ruined the Dragon Names of Zelda and Ganondorf , In Japanese and in most European translation Zelda is called the White Dragon and Ganondorf the Black Dragon and it makes more sense now.
