    Peter tried futilely to slow his sobs and catch his breath as he sagged against his restraints, his body lying heavily on the bench beneath him. He was vaguely aware of Sir moving somewhere behind him, but most of his attention was stolen by the throbbing, searing heat that was radiating from his backside.

    A hand on his lower back had him tensing again, bracing for another swing of the cane, a whine falling from his lips as the tears continued to pour.

    “Hey, Pete,” Sir spoke quietly, his tone sounded pleased and soothing as he gently rubbed Peter’s lower back. “You did so well for me, honey. Are you okay for me to start undoing these restraints?”

    Sighing in relief that it was over, he jerked his head in the semblance of a nod, knowing that words were still too far away for Peter to formulate.
