Summary:

Kira Yoshikage wanted to go to work as usual in the morning, but someone else's tenderness and cold embrace make him change his mind.

Work Text:

It was another winter morning, and the alarm clock chimed, forcing Yoshikage to open his eyes with a heavy weight. The cold air was blowing through the ajar window into the dark bedroom, causing the snow-white curtains to flutter open. His drowsy gaze followed the thin fabric that swayed gently at the window. The blond could have watched it for ages, finding some kind of peaceful permanent idyll and comfort in this picture. However, the repetitive ringing of the alarm clock counted quite differently, causing the man to let out an annoyed groan. Kira rose slightly from the bed, turning off the annoying alarm clock that had dared to pull him out of such a pleasant sleep. The cold temperature in the bedroom made itself felt. As soon as the soft blanket stopped covering Yoshikage's body, he immediately felt a stabbing cold that made him want to wrap himself back up in the blanket. He could feel his body starting to shiver from the freezing morning. It must have been a bad idea to ventilate the room before going to bed, and then fall asleep altogether, forgetting about the open window. The man could feel his fingertips beginning to get numb, and every movement brought a burning pain.

It was the middle of winter, and all Yoshikage Kira wanted on such frosty days was to sit in his warm living room, wrapped in a soft but stubby blanket, and leisurely read the coveted book he had bought God knows when. Before that, however, I had to go outside in the damn snowfall to get to my work. Thinking of the quiet evening that would await him, he was about to get up from his bed so soft and inviting to start packing. The rustling of a blanket was heard somewhere nearby, and the last thing Yoshikage wanted was to wake up Dio, who had apparently just recently gone to bed. The blond man was ready to get out of bed to go to the bathroom first, and then make himself breakfast, but he was prevented from doing so by the cold hands that were wrapped around his waist, preventing him from making any movement at all.

" Dio, let me go, I have to get ready for work." Dio let me go, and I have to get ready for work." The man said, feeling the coldness enveloping him, only this time it was coming from his body, balancing on the edge of sleep. Realizing that Dio wasn't going to respond to his pleas, he slapped his hands annoyingly, hoping that then he would let him go and the blond man could return to his typical, never-changing morning.

" Why do you have to go to that tedious job every day? Stay with me. " Sleepily, Brando said, pulling the other man's body closer to him as if it weighed nothing at all.

Kira shuddered, and then bit his lip, at the next touch of Dio's cold hands that had no intention of letting him go. Sighing, the blond noticed the frosty steam from his mouth.

" I can't skip work whenever I want, it would arouse suspicion. " Tiredly the man muttered, amazed that such elementary things had to be explained to Brando. While his man was apparently pondering these words, Yoshikage began to gently untwist the lock from his fingers to clear a rough path for himself.

" But you people can lie, like saying you're sick." Even though Yoshikage was sitting with his back to him, he could definitely tell that Dio was smirking looking at him. No sooner had the man gotten out of bed than he immediately felt a weight on his shoulders.

"Dio, stop it, I don't want to be late for work because of you. " Quietly and tiredly the blond man said, shivering at the touch of the vampire's cold skin against his bare back. Dio ran his fingers along his spine with interest, making Yoshikage squeeze his eyes shut.

"Stop it, I'm cold." In a pleading whisper, Yoshikage said, feeling his fingers on his hands freeze. Lifting his head, which rested peacefully on Kira's shoulder, Dio pressed his head against his collarbone, leaving cold kisses on his skin.

"Come on, stay with me tonight." He whispered in his ear, stroking his torso with his cold hands. " Do you want me to draw you a hot bath later?"

The corners of Kira's mouth lifted as he thought of a hot bubble bath. He relaxed his eyes, sinking into the feel of cold hands. "And afterwards, I could read you your book." The vampire murmured, moving lower, kissing the man's cheekbones, leaving the imprint of green lipstick. Kira felt himself pressed even tighter against his cold body.

"Didn't you wash off your makeup before you went to bed again?" Feeling the sticky traces of lipstick, the blond said into the void. Dio only mumbled positively as he continued to cover Yoshikage's warm skin with gentle kisses.

"Is it such a good idea to stay home tonight?" The blond pondered, running through all the outcomes in his head. It would definitely draw unwanted attention when he didn't show up to his workplace, and Yoshikage himself can't remember the last time he took a day off work. Apparently it was very rare, if ever. He felt annoyed that he was letting himself slack off, allowing himself to break his already perfect schedule.

"I sometimes regret letting you in my house." He said in a silence that made his quiet voice seem loud, breaking their silence. Only a few chuckles came in response, if that could be considered a response at all. Yoshikage suspected that letting a person like Dio Brando into his life would require him to step out of his comfort zone several times, adjusting his exact schedule to accommodate the vampire as well. The fact that Kira had had to go along with Dio's desires on so many occasions irritated him. A little more and he would have relaxed completely, forgetting his duties and responsibilities. But the soft bed beckoned him back, making him forget all his plans for the day.

"I will stay." Proclaimed the man, turning to face Dio. The not-new bed creaked from the movements on it as Kira settled comfortably among the blankets. Noticing Brando's smirk, he also added, "If you close the window. And this is the first and last time I'll ever take a day off work."

Brando nodded, determined not to remind his lover of how many times he'd heard about the first and last time out of his mouth. "If that's all you want..." Dio said softly, getting lazily out of bed and moving toward the window.

"You live like a house cat." Kira said, settling back down in bed. "And that's not a compliment." He added as soon as he caught the vampire's gaze of interest.

"Really ?" He said. Dio closed the window, and Yoshikage could have sworn it was warmer in the room. "You love them, don't you?" He grinned as he headed back to his warm bed. The bed creaked again from the weight of another body, and no sooner had Yoshikage lowered his head onto the soft pillow than Dio's arms pulled him back into a cold embrace that left only warmth on his soul.
