Some Things Are Meant to Be

Summary:

She glances at where Batman is talking to the Kryptonian hero. Nightwing is the latest member to join the Justice League of America. Word on the streets says he was the one who contacted Batman, proving his value as an ally by capturing the Joker in just one night. Batman should have been impressed and Dinah can see why. Nightwing's reputation proceeds him, there's no one as competent as he in Krypton. Otherwise, this welcome party wouldn't have been approved by Batman.

"So what do you say? Time to make our move? Take that big boy to our home?" Oliver asks, without knowing Dinah's plan is already on action.

You know what Kryptonians are famous for, my bird?" Oliver asks, the lust in his eyes is hidden behind the Green Arrow mask. The lecherous grin drawn on his face gives him away, though.

Oliver takes a sip of Dinah's beer bottle. He's too busy lusting for Clark's butt to lose time in getting his own drink.

"I think you should get yourself a beer and worry about Clark's reputation later," Dinah says, careful to not make it evident that she's been watching Clark's impressive physique all night too.

"C'mon, Dinah, did you forget what we talk about last night? A pool party is the best excuse to get him naked," Oliver winks.

"I thought you just wanted to show him the modern American dream, wings and ribs on July 4th," she teases.

"And fireworks," Oliver adds. He scratches his neck. It's a sign of anxiety. "So are you still good with our deal?"

Dinah's hand reaches Oliver's and holds him back from ruining his neck. "Stop it. It's red already," she says softly.

"You're halting. I thought we had a deal. We wanted more because two is better than three and that Kryptonian boy over there, he is a solid three."

"Right," Dinah says, vaguely.

Take that big boy to our home?" Oliver's confidence is back, flaming like a kid who just won a prize.

"Don't you worry, darling. He knows," Dinah smirks, delighted to see Oliver didn't see it coming. A bit of surprise never hurt anyone. "Kryptonians like Nightwing can hear from far, far away."

"No, you're kidding," Oliver shakes his head. Like all the other masked heroes, Oliver is a freak of privacy.

"Clark, darling, if you want to join us, you are in. Just bring me a margarita with a red straw before the night ends," Dinah says. "Shall we dance in the meantime?"

Oliver takes her hand reluctantly. His hands grab her hips, bring her closer to him. "What didn't you tell me? I talked nonsense all night about his ass and man tits."

"I know," Dinah laughs. "It was fun."

"You were having fun. I was making a fool of myself just because I have a competency kink," Oliver adds.

"And a size kink, my love."

Though Oliver sounds slightly mad, Dinah isn't worried. As long as Clark approaches them before the night ends, it means her plan work and Oliver won't have a reason to complain—The songs pass by, from "Murder On The Dancefloor" to the whole discography of ABBA, ending with "Careless Whisper," but Clark is nowhere to be seen.

"Do you think he left?" Dinah is concerned. She didn't think her plan would fail.

Oliver looks around, but there's no sign of the tall man, wearing a blue and black suit. Nightwing is gone, putting Dinah's hopes down. "We'll find someone else," Oliver says to cheer up Dinah, however, he wants Clark as much as she does.

"I guess..." Dinah glances at Batman one more time to make sure Clark is with him, but he is not. "It looks like Kryptonians don't do triads."

They don't look back on their way back to the car, not until someone calls them from behind.

"Hey, the waiter told them there were no more red straws," Clark says, after silently landing behind them.

Oliver and Dinah look at each other and then turn back to see Clark, holding a margarita with a red straw.

"I looked for a Target. Wonder Woman said I could find straws there." Clark always sounds so innocent when he talks, but Oliver and Dinah are about to find out he's not at all.

"Shall we start the pool party tonight, even if it's not the fourth of July?" Clark smirks, flashing eyebrows.

"Clark, my boy, it's always the fourth of July with us," Oliver laughs.
