Notes:

Your favorite Doctor. (y/f/d) Your favorite companion. (y/f/c) This is your story, so to speak. You can also be the companion of the Doctor instead. This is for fun. The two chapters are an experiment for me. I plan on writing more, but it will be a bunch of different stories, not necessarily connected to each other. If I have The Master in a story, you will be able to imagine your favorite one. Y/f/m. I hope you enjoy them.

Chapter 1: The investigator of London

Chapter Text

The Doctor was excited. Y/f/d was in the mood for exploration of a new system. "I have never seen anything like it! Standing on a multicolored sand, in a temperate desert. This is why I travel."

"Unicorns and rainbows. The dunes are glowing. What is the sand made of?" Y/f/c asked.

"Unicorns? They are more like your rhinos than horses with horns. Y/f/d scanned the dunes. "The sonic picks up indigenous insects living in the sand. They are glowing." The TARDIS sent a message to y/f/d. An alien technology was detected on earth. "That's odd. That's not supposed to happen." Y/f/d said out loud. Then without explaining, y/f/d entered the TARDIS.

"Doctor? What's wrong?" Y/f/c asked. After following the Doctor inside, the TARDIS left the glowing sand dune planet.

The TARDIS landed in London. The source of the strange technology was within a a few blocks. Y/f/d got some unknown equipment, turned it on and analyzed the signal. An odd sound came out of the equipment, with dings, bongs, and a bell.

"What is that for?" Y/f/c asked confused. "Does it help?"

Frustrated, y/f/d tossed it back into a pile, pulled out another thing with wires, shrugged and tossed it aside. "Where is it?!"

Y/f/c opened the TARDIS doors. "We're in London. Why do we always come back to earth Sometimes I wonder if we have a sign on our planet, 'Trouble wanted.'"

Y/f/d stood behind y/f/c, "London. I don't know why anyone would have such a sign. However, trouble is what we are looking for. Let's go see what trouble we can get into!" Leaving the TARDIS, y/f/d said, "The signal is coming from that building."

Y/f/d walked to the doorway of the apartment building. "Excuse me. No one is allowed inside without being a resident or the invitation of a resident." The doorman stopped the duo in the vestibule.

Y/f/d pulled out the psychic paper, showed the doorman, and said, "We were called."

"I'm so sorry. I wasn't told of your coming today. Of course your welcome in at anytime. The owner's family is always welcome." The doorman opened the second door and watched the two go into the elevator.

"Owner's family?" Y/f/c asked.

"Apparently I am the owner's cousin and you are my personal aide." Y/f/d read the psychic paper.

"Personal aide! Really, the psychic paper should be better than that! Why can't I be the owner's cousin?" Y/f/c asked.

"It's not the psychic paper's fault. The doorman is the one who thought it. The signal is coming from the fifteenth floor." Y/f/d explained.

"What kind of signal?" Y/f/c asked. "I hope it not too dangerous. I am exhausted. I enjoy seeing new worlds, but I had a hard time waking the sandy hills."

"Wear different shoes, next time! We're here," y/f/d said, getting more serious as they got off the elevator.

The hallway was reminiscent of a hotel. The numbers on the doors went down as they followed the signal to room 1545. Y/f/d knocked on the door. No answer. Using the sonic, the door was unlocked, and they went in.

The room looked normal enough. Everything was clean, tidy, and felt unlived in. Investigating, each took a side of the apartment. Y/f/c went in the kitchen. Y/f/d went to the bedroom. Y/f/c opened the fridge and found nothing. Learning that even the improbable is possible, y/f/c opened the oven, cupboards, everything. Still, not knowing what to look for besides the unusual, made it a challenge. Next was the bathroom. It was pristine. Unusual for a bathroom. "Nothing in here or the kitchen!"

Y/f/d was not finding anything either. The signal stopped as they were at the door of the apartment. Looking for any false walls, trap doors, invisible rooms, or any hidden areas was useless. Since they found the apartment, they would have to wait for it's occupant to come back.

They hid in the bedroom, waiting. "This is the boring part. Waiting." Y/f/d complained.

"Can we wait in the TARDIS?" Y/f/c suggested.

"No. I sent the TARDIS to come back tomorrow. I don't want them to know I am here." Y/f/d replied.

"Who are they?" Y/f/c asked.

"You lot call them The Greys. We have another name for them, but it's meaning is the same." Y/f/d was not happy.

"You mean the ones who abduct people? They are really doing that? You have to stop them!" Y/f/c, who had been sitting on the bed, got up and crossed their arms.

"Yes. The same ones. They are an older race, a dying race. They have been experimenting with other races to save themselves. It's a fruitless endeavor. They will become extinct in the next few centuries. I don't know who I will be dealing with. Sometimes people can surprise you. I hope so, in this case." Y/f/d didn't know if The Grey could be reasoned with.

The Grey returned to the apartment. Now was the Doctor's chance to find out what they were doing.
