'Is this happening for real?' is what Colby could only think about.
A few good minutes earlier, there was a loud thud coming from the basement. Everyone panicked and saw Jake run right out, they decided to run out after him.
It's obviously scary when Jake gets scared because normally he's the one who doesn't freak out unlike Corey and Sam.
Colby was still behind Sam on the stairs to the second floor. Colby was the last one on the stairs. Corey had the camera and he'd been filming forward.
So Sam and Colby were almost without much light at the back.
Colby could feel his knee brushing up against Sam's thigh.
The stairs were too cramped and small anyways to complain, so Sam just said, "Colby can you come up a little later it's cramped up"
"Sam there's no light here so, no." Colby says back trying to reason.
Sam,"Alright just make sure you don't fall down"
Colby held onto Sam's waist quickly as he suddenly slipped right after Sam told him to be careful.
None of em said anything but both stiffened up instantly too.
Colby looks up after a second to realize Sam was still in a daze and Corey and Jake has been calling em to come up.
Colby,"Sam? Hey Sam?!"
No response. He shook Sam a bit.
"Sammy, comn?" He said gently.
Sam jerked up and looked behind him to see Colby staring at him with worry and confusion in his eyes.
"Huh? What happened?" Sam asked seemingly himself being confused.
Colby understood he was in a trance. This was happening often on investigations nowadays, Sam would just be out of it sometimes.
"Sam, Corey's calling let's go up yeah?"
Sam just nodded and walked up. Colby still had his hand on sam's waist just to make sure Sam knew he was still right here, right in the now, with him, with them and not anywhere else.
"You two were kissing downstairs?" Jake laughs.
"Brother do tell us if you kiss, we'll join you two." Corey adds jokingly and laughs.
Colby just smiles while Sam still doesn't get whats going on.
"Sam let's go to the other room and rest before starting investigation okay?" Colby asks Sam as that was their initial plan anyways that they'll split into two groups.
"Uh hmm alright let's go." Sam says.
Corey,"When did we agree you two were a team comn I wanna go with Sam!"
"Corey it's just for this part alright? Please?" Colby adds the please so lightly and with begging eyes.
Watching Colby and Sam, Corey knew something's going on or happened so he just let em go.
So Colby and Sam both went to the other room and Colby made Sam sit in the bed and he sat beside him going from the other side of the bed.
Colby, "Hey"
"Hey Sam?".
Sam, "y..yeah?"
Colby, "How you feeling now man?"
Sam, "I.. I feel kinda off"
Colby,"off? How?"
Sam,"Well it feels like.. like I'm not even here.. you're not here either....I'm just somewhere totally different you know.."
Sam starts shivering and Colby can't help but notice the tears Sam had in his eyes making em redder.
"Sam look, look at me boy" Colby attempts. He has his hands on sam's shoulders gripping them not too tight but just enough to make sure he conveys his feeling and energy.
Colby, "I'm here, okay? I'm right here I'll be here and Jake and Corey are also here so don't worry."
Sam,"you.. you don't get it Colby it's getting worse-"
Colby hugs him mid sentence.
"I'll be here nonetheless Sam. Can't you feel my warmth? My touch?" He asks the blonde.
Too shocked to answer but feeling safe Sam hugs Colby back even tighter as if to feel all of him. To know that he was here for real and not just the warm air.
They stayed like that for a while before Colby offered,"Sammy you want to sleep for a bit?"
Sam immediately stops holding Colby and says, "no no no, you'll disappear the nightmares will take over no I won't!"
Holding Sam again in his arms he positioned them on the bed so they were laying comfortably.
"Colby no I won't sleep don't make me sleep!"
Colby,"Sam, you know I'm here. You sleep I'll hold you throughout the entire time will that be of help?"
"No Colby I don't know, just don't leave me."
To Sam's surprise, Colby kisses his forehead softly, "Fine you're my responsibility now, no devils or anything can trouble your sleep tonight just remember I'm holding you constantly okay hun?"
The new nickname and kiss was surprising but not unwelcomed.
Sam felt even more at home and he was shut off as he felt Colby cuddling him completely holding him so tight.
It felt too good to not snuggle and fall asleep.
That's exactly what Sam did only in a few minutes he fell asleep.
