Mookie Betts, the star outfielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers, stood in right field, his heart pounding as the final inning of the game unfolded before him. The score was tied, and both teams were locked in a fierce battle for victory. Mookie's eyes were fixed on the ball as it soared through the air, heading directly towards him.
Without a second thought, Mookie sprinted towards the trajectory of the ball, his eyes never leaving its path. With lightning speed and unwavering determination, he dove forward, fully extending his body to make the catch. The crowd erupted into cheers as Mookie's glove closed around the ball, securing the crucial out that would ultimately clinch the game for the Dodgers.
However, as the cheers subsided, Mookie felt a sharp pain shoot through his side. He winced, realizing that the dive had strained a muscle. Despite the victory, he knew that he needed to address the injury to ensure it wouldn't hamper him in the upcoming games.
As the game concluded and the players made their way back to the clubhouse, Mookie pondered his options for recovery. He remembered that the team had installed a series of hot tubs in the training room, specifically designed to help players relax their muscles after intense games. The thought of soaking in warm water to alleviate the strain sounded appealing, but a sudden fear crept into his mind.
Mookie hesitated, thinking about the potential danger of submerging himself in water. He couldn't shake off the nagging worry that he might get electrocuted. While he knew it was an irrational fear, the fear of the unknown gripped him. He decided to seek answers before taking any risks.
Curiosity led Mookie to find the team's trainer, who had been an invaluable resource for the players over the years. Mookie approached him cautiously, still unsure how to express his apprehension.
"Hey, Coach," Mookie began tentatively, "I've been thinking about using one of the hot tubs to relax this muscle, but... I don't know. I'm afraid of getting electrocuted. Is there any truth to that?"
The trainer smiled, understanding Mookie's concerns. "No, Mookie, there's no reason to worry. The hot tubs are perfectly safe to use. They are designed with the highest safety standards in mind. The water is carefully regulated, and there are multiple safety mechanisms in place to prevent any electrical mishaps."
Relieved, Mookie's anxiety began to dissipate. He realized that his fear had been unfounded, a product of his imagination running wild with worry. The trainer's explanation reassured him, and he felt a renewed sense of confidence.
"Thank you, Coach," Mookie said gratefully. "I guess I let my imagination get the best of me. I'll definitely give the hot tub a try to help with this muscle strain."
Mookie headed towards the training room, eager to find relief for his sore muscle. As he stepped into the warm water of the hot tub, he felt the tension in his body gradually melt away. He leaned back, allowing the jets of water to massage his aching muscles, knowing that he had overcome an irrational fear that had briefly held him back.
In that moment, Mookie reflected on the importance of seeking knowledge and understanding. He realized that sometimes fear can be overcome by learning the facts and confronting one's concerns head-on.
In the moment that immediately followed, Mookie wondered why the hell he was applying such a wannabe brainy attempt at a feel-good message to something as mundane as a hot tub.
No matter. He closed his eyes and relaxed, letting the bubbling tub envelop every fiber of his being with warmth…kind of like that time he was enveloped by bolts of electricity…
Mookie opened his eyes, startled by that thought. Bolts of electricity? When did that ever happen? Why did thoughts like that keep springing to his mind?
He closed them again and returned to his state of relaxation, all the while humming a tune that had been stuck in his head for days, despite him not having any idea where it'd originally come from…
I am electric, resistance is pointless
Feel my magnetism, you will agree
You can't ignore me, you must adore me
I am electric, come closer to me
AC/DC, it's okay by me…
