Chapter Text
In most realms, the place known as Hell is one of fire and brimstone and punishment of the damned. It is described as a wretched place, where evil is contained so that the rest of the world may continue in peace. But that is in most realms. That is not this Hell.
In this world, Hell is a world like any other; populated by a multitude of races, the most common among them being the Demons and their varying subraces; filled with differing ecosystems, from the great ocean that surrounds the central landmass to the treacherous northern mountains; containing a plethora of magic that the denizens can tap into; and governed by the aptly named Kingdom of Hell and its line of royalty. For many hundreds of years, the Kingdom has watched over this realm, the Kings and Queens guiding the people to a golden age of prosperity and magi-technological advancement.
That is until it all went so terribly wrong.
Most of the knowledge from before the Cataclysm was forgotten, lost during that terrible time of darkness where monsters roamed free and the people fought among themselves for every scrap of food or drop of water. The fantastical combinations of technology and magic were reduced to myths, the evidence buried in the ruins of a bygone age. The grand schools of magic were torn asunder by the wave of monsters that brought about the Cataclysm, and with them went most of the magical knowledge. Even the royal family, beloved as they were by the people, were all but forgotten.
Or, almost forgotten. A legend remained: one that spoke of the heiress to the throne having not perished during the violent destruction of the royal castle but instead survived, hidden away in a timeless sleep beneath the ruins of her home until a time would come when she would awaken to save her people from darkness. This legend, passed down from parent to child to ease the youth to sleep, became reality when a young demonette emerged, declaring herself the rightful heiress to the throne of Hell.
Like a beacon, people flocked to the young woman, who would go on to reunite the scattered denizens of Hell. With incredible might and a loyal army, she would hunt down the monsters that plagued her land and force them to the edge of her territory. With charisma and wit, she would make allies with many remnants of noble houses that retained small pieces of territory after the Cataclysm, bringing them into the fold. With royal blood in her veins, she would go on to take her rightful place on the throne as Ryka Archonicus, the Queen of Hell.
