Work Text:
Seungmin sauntered into Jeongin’s room without uttering a single word, a mischievous glint in his eyes. Jeongin glanced up from his book, a bewildered expression crossing his face as he tried to decipher the reason behind his best friend’s unannounced intrusion.
“What on earth are you doing, bro?” Jeongin asked, his voice laced with a mixture of annoyance and curiosity. “I’m trying to get some sleep here, you know.”
Seungmin smirked, feigning innocence. “Sleep? Who needs sleep when you have such an amazing roommate to hang out with?” he replied, a playful tone evident in his voice.
Jeongin let out an exasperated sigh, rolling his eyes. “Seriously, Seungmin? Can’t you leave me alone for one night? I have an early morning tomorrow.”
But Seungmin wasn’t one to be deterred by Jeongin’s protests. He plopped down on the bed beside his friend, crossing his legs and leaning back against the headboard. “Oh, come on, Innie. You can’t resist my charm and wonderful company,” he quipped, a cheeky grin playing on his lips.
Jeongin gave Seungmin a mock scowl, but the corners of his mouth betrayed a hint of amusement. “Charm? More like unbearable annoyance,” he retorted, though his tone lacked any real bite.
As the conversation flowed effortlessly between them, Seungmin and Jeongin fell into their familiar rhythm. The teasing and banter were second nature to them, a testament to the ease of their friendship. They reveled in the back-and-forth, relishing the moments of light-hearted repartee.
Hours seemed to melt away as they laughed, shared stories, and gossiped. There was an effortless comfort in their interactions, a shared understanding that transcended words.
But as the night wore on, a subtle shift occurred in the air. The atmosphere grew charged with an unspoken tension, an electrifying magnetism that pulsed between them. They inched closer, their shoulders brushing, their breaths mingling in the space between them.
Seungmin’s gaze fixated on Jeongin’s lips, freshly moisturized and glistening in the soft light. They were an irresistible temptation, an invitation he found himself unable to resist. Something inside him snapped, a surge of desire coursing through his veins.
Jeongin, sensing the shift in Seungmin’s demeanor, felt his heart skip a beat. His eyes met Seungmin’s, their intensity mirroring the pulsing rhythm in his chest. The world seemed to fade away, leaving only the two of them locked in a silent connection.
In that suspended moment, the line between friendship and something more blurred, the boundaries becoming hazy and indistinct. A single thought consumed Seungmin’s mind: he wanted needed to feel the warmth of Jeongin’s lips against his own, to taste the sweet nectar of this newfound desire.
Unable to resist the magnetic pull between them, Seungmin inched even closer, his breath mingling with Jeongin’s. “I’ll do it, yeah?” he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper.
Jeongin’s initial response was one of resistance. “I don’t think we should…,” he hesitated, averting his gaze.
Seungmin brushed their noses together, a mischievous glint in his eyes. “Hmm, if you don’t want to, I won’t,” he teased, “But your blushing says otherwise… so?”
Jeongin’s cheeks flushed even deeper, his attempt to hide his growing emotions failing miserably. “I’m not blushing!” he protested, his voice betraying his words.
Seungmin chuckled, his warm breath caressing Jeongin’s face. “Oh, really?” he teased, his tone playful. “Do you want me to get my phone, take a picture, and show you just how red your face is right now?”
Rolling his eyes, Jeongin tried to regain his composure. “Why do you always need to overdo it?” he groaned, though a small smile tugged at the corners of his lips. “Fine, Seungmin, do it. Just so you won’t cry like a baby.”
Seungmin’s triumphant smile widened, his eyes sparkling with mischief. He released his hold on Jeongin, pretending to give up. “I changed my mind, I won’t do it,” he said, feigning disappointment.
But before he could pull away completely, Jeongin’s hand shot out, gripping his wrist tightly. “Don’t you dare,” Jeongin warned, a hint of challenge in his voice. Seungmin’s victory was short-lived as Jeongin pulled him back, their faces inches apart.
“Please,” Jeongin pleaded, his voice a barely audible whisper, his cheeks flushed with a mixture of embarrassment and desire.
Seungmin leaned in closer, his breath warm against Jeongin’s ear, his voice dripping with tantalizing anticipation. “Please what?” he teased, his lips barely grazing Jeongin’s skin. “What is it that you want me to do, Innie?”
Jeongin’s eyes narrowed, a mix of frustration and longing evident in his gaze. He wasn’t going to let Seungmin have the upper hand so easily. Gathering his resolve, he mustered a playful smirk, hoping to regain control of the situation.
“Don’t play coy with me, Seungmin,” Jeongin shot back, his voice laced with a combination of annoyance and desire. “You know exactly what I want. Quit pretending.”
Seungmin chuckled, the sound sending a delightful shiver down Jeongin’s spine. “Oh, I know, Innie,” he whispered, his lips now dangerously close to Jeongin’s. “But I want to hear you say it. I want to hear those words escape your lips.”
“Kiss me,” Jeongin finally uttered, his words barely audible, but laced with longing and vulnerability.
The air between them seemed to crackle with electricity as Seungmin’s eyes widened, surprise mingling with his own yearning. Without a moment’s hesitation, he closed the remaining distance between them, his lips meeting Jeongin’s with an intensity that sent shivers down their spines.
In that lingering embrace, time seemed to stand still. Their hearts beat in synchrony, a rhythm only they could hear. Seungmin’s kiss was both tender and passionate, a testament to the depth of their connection.
But when their lips finally parted, they both maintained a facade of casual nonchalance. Jeongin’s cheeks were still tinged with a rosy hue, and Seungmin couldn’t hide the glimmer of contentment in his eyes.
“Well, that happened,” Seungmin remarked, his voice laced with a mixture of amusement and underlying affection.
Jeongin chuckled softly, a blush still lingering on his face. “Yeah,” he replied, unable to suppress the shy smile that tugged at his lips.
An awkward silence settled between them as the realization of what they had just done crashed down on both of them. This was uncharted territory, and they were unsure of how to navigate it. But for now, they decided to set aside the questions and uncertainties that loomed in their minds. They would worry about it another time.
The silence was eventually broken as their eyes met, and a shared understanding passed between them. They couldn’t help but burst into laughter, the tension melting away as the weight of the situation lifted. Seungmin got up from Jeongin’s bed, his fingers playfully ruffling Jeongin’s hair, eliciting an annoyed groan from his best friend, who quickly fixed his disheveled locks.
“Good night, Innie,” Seungmin said, his voice filled with warmth.
Jeongin grabbed Seungmin’s wrist, stopping him in his tracks. Seungmin chuckled, a glint of mischief in his eyes. “This is the second time you’ve grabbed me by the wrist. Is this a thing now?” he teased.
Rolling his eyes, Jeongin replied, “Just stay here tonight.”
Seungmin smirked. “Weren’t you the one trying to kick me out of your room before?”
Jeongin rolled his eyes once again, his tone mocking. “Oh, you’re right. Fuck off.”
Seungmin laughed, throwing himself back onto Jeongin’s bed, making himself comfortable. Jeongin looked at Seungmin with a mixture of exasperation and fondness. “You’re so weird,” he muttered.
Seungmin smiled to himself. “Mkay, so are you,” he replied, his gaze softening.
Before Jeongin could retort, Seungmin maneuvered him, pulling him close until they were cuddled up in each other’s arms. Jeongin’s eyebrows furrowed in confusion. “What are you doing, Seungmin?” he asked, a hint of curiosity in his voice.
Seungmin tightened his embrace, his voice gentle. “Why did you ask me to stay if we aren’t going to cuddle?”
Jeongin sighed, giving up the argument. He allowed himself to get comfortable, nestling into Seungmin’s warm embrace. The room fell quiet and peaceful, and Jeongin could feel sleep slowly overtaking him.
Just as he was on the verge of drifting off, Seungmin’s voice broke the tranquility. “Can we kiss again?” he whispered, his tone filled with longing.
Jeongin groaned, his face flushing with both desire and resistance. He buried his face under the blanket, mumbling, “No. Shut up and sleep, Seungmin.”
Seungmin laughed, holding Jeongin even closer, their bodies intertwined. The room fell silent once more, and as they succumbed to sleep, their breaths in sync, they knew that their friendship had forever been transformed into something deeper, something uncharted, and yet, undeniably beautiful.
…
The next day arrived, and despite what happened last night, nothing seemed to have changed in their behavior. They woke up as usual, their playful banter filling the air. This time, Jeongin was in a mischievous mood. Seungmin was still groggy, his eyes closed, when suddenly Jeongin let out a scream and shoved him off the bed.
Seungmin jolted awake, a mix of worry and confusion clouding his face. “What the hell? What happened?” he exclaimed, trying to make sense of the situation.
Jeongin burst into laughter, finding Seungmin’s bewildered expression utterly priceless. With a casual shrug, he replied, “Nothing,” stretching his arms above his head.
Seungmin rubbed the sleep from his eyes, feeling a tad annoyed. “Then why the fuck—” he began, his words interrupted by Jeongin’s chuckles.
“I don’t know,” Jeongin interrupted, a mischievous glint in his eyes. “I just felt like it.”
Seungmin, now fully awake and back to his usual self, grinned mischievously. “Well then, let me kiss you.”
Jeongin raised an eyebrow, his curiosity piqued. “Huh? Why?” he asked, genuinely confused.
Seungmin mocked Jeongin’s previous response, a playful smirk on his face. “I don’t know. I just feel like it,” he replied, his voice laced with playful teasing.
Rolling his eyes, Jeongin wasn’t ready to give in so easily. “Yeah, definitely not with that morning breath of yours,” he retorted, a playful grin forming on his face.
Seungmin immediately sprang to his feet, making a beeline for the door to the bathroom. “Give me two seconds to brush my teeth,” he declared, determined to win this round.
Jeongin rolled his eyes, pulling a playful disgusted face. “I’ll most definitely not kiss you if you brush your teeth for only two seconds,” he stated, laughing.
Seungmin laughed along with him and left the room, leaving Jeongin alone. Jeongin couldn’t help but think that he could get used to this, to their new dynamic. He really could.
…
The morning passed by in their usual routine. They had breakfast together, exchanged playful banter, and then went their separate ways to continue with their day. As nightfall approached, Jeongin found himself in his room, secretly hoping for Seungmin to join him (though he wouldn’t admit it to anyone).
Just as he was lost in his thoughts, the door to his room creaked open, and Seungmin walked in. Jeongin quickly closed his eyes and pretended to be asleep. Seungmin rolled his eyes, his chuckles betraying his knowledge. “I know you’re awake,” he teased.
Jeongin maintained his pretense, not responding and keeping his eyes shut. Seungmin grinned, closing the door behind him, and slowly approached the “sleeping” Jeongin.
Jeongin’s heart started to race, feeling a mix of nervousness and anticipation. Before he could react, Seungmin was on top of him, playfully holding him down.
Jeongin struggled to free himself, but Seungmin only laughed. “I thought you were sleeping,” he said, his voice filled with amusement.
“Just get off me,” Jeongin mumbled, still avoiding eye contact with Seungmin.
Seungmin teasingly cupped Jeongin’s cheeks, gently making him look at him. “Why are you so red?” he asked, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
Jeongin rolled his eyes, slapping Seungmin’s hand away. “You’re really close,” he muttered, his cheeks still flushed.
Seungmin chuckled and leaned in even closer. Jeongin groaned and complained, “Seungmin, you’re actually really heavy. Get off me.”
Seungmin smiled, undeterred by Jeongin’s protests. “One kiss, then I’m off,” he whispered.
They gazed into each other’s eyes in silence for a moment, their unspoken connection growing stronger. Finally, Jeongin relented, saying, “Fine, one kiss.”
Seungmin fully leaned in, and their lips met in a tender and passionate kiss.
This was the second time they had kissed, and it tasted and felt just as amazing as the night before. Jeongin was reluctant to let go, not wanting his lips to leave Seungmin’s. But alas, they were mere humans who needed to breathe, so they reluctantly broke the kiss, their breaths mingling in the air.
As their lips parted, a trail of soft sighs escaped their mouths, their eyes meeting in a haze of desire and uncertainty. They remained close, their faces inches apart, their breaths intermingling as they basked in the aftermath of their connection.
Seungmin, his voice laced with vulnerability, broke the silence. “Should I stay or leave?” he asked, his eyes searching Jeongin’s for any hint or sign.
Jeongin rolled his eyes, a smile tugging at his lips. “How would I know? You decide,” he replied, his voice filled with genuine fondness.
Seungmin snorted and said, “It’s your room, you decide.”
A quiet moment passed between them, and then Jeongin spoke softly, “Stay.”
Seungmin smiled, letting himself fall onto Jeongin, gently turning them around so they could cuddle comfortably. The rest of the night was spent talking, their conversation flowing effortlessly until they finally drifted off to sleep.
Just before they succumbed to slumber, Seungmin whispered, “Good night, Innie,” snuggling even closer.
Seungmin fell asleep, but Jeongin remained awake, lost in his thoughts. He reflected on their friendship and couldn’t help but feel a deep fondness for the way things were between them. Was it truly just a friendship? It felt like more. He didn’t want whatever they had to ever end.
Tomorrow night, he hoped Seungmin would enter his room again, kiss him, tell him good night, and fall asleep in his arms. With that comforting thought in mind, Jeongin too drifted off to sleep.
…
The next day unfolded much like the previous ones, with time seemingly slipping away faster and nights feeling elongated.
As the evening approached, Jeongin found himself back in his room, his gaze alternating between the clock and the door. An uneasiness crept into his thoughts—perhaps Seungmin wouldn’t come tonight? Maybe he no longer wanted to partake in whatever undefined relationship they had stumbled into.
Then, as if on cue, the sound he had been eagerly anticipating reached his ears—the creaking of his door opening, followed by the appearance of Seungmin.
Seungmin flopped onto Jeongin’s bed, staring absentmindedly at the ceiling. Jeongin couldn’t help but feel a tinge of concern, despite his attempt to conceal it beneath a mask of nonchalance. He asked, “What’s up with you?”
Seungmin turned his gaze towards Jeongin, a smile gracing his lips. “Nothing, I just had a rough day, but I’m fine now,” he replied.
Jeongin scooted closer to Seungmin until they were lying side by side, their eyes locked in a meaningful exchange. Jeongin pressed further, asking, “How come?”
Seungmin chuckled softly, his eyes shining with warmth. “That’s because I’m with you now,” he confessed. “Your presence always brightens my day, you know.”
Jeongin couldn’t help but cringe at the compliment, responding with a teasing remark. “Stop, Seungmin,” Jeongin interjected, a playful grin dancing on his lips. “That’s actually really creepy, you know?”
Seungmin let out a laugh and mock-sulked, saying, “I try to be cute for once, and you brutally break my heart.”
In that moment, an unexpected surge of confidence coursed through Jeongin. Their eyes still locked, he mustered the courage to make his move. Closing the distance between them, he connected their lips in a tender and affectionate kiss. It was a sweet declaration, a silent admission of the affection that bloomed within him.
As they slowly pulled apart, their foreheads resting gently against each other, Seungmin’s confusion mingled with surprise. “Huh? What was that for?” he whispered, his voice filled with wonder and curiosity.
Jeongin’s eyes held a glimmer of confidence as he met Seungmin’s gaze. “That, Seungminnie,” he replied softly, his voice tinged with a mixture of playfulness and sincerity, “was me trying to be cute for once.”
Seungmin blinked, the reality of the moment sinking in. A myriad of emotions flickered across his face—surprise, realization, and a growing warmth. His lips curled into a tender smile, mirroring the affection reflected in his eyes. “Well,” he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper, “you succeeded.”
Jeongin turned around, grinning mischievously, as he bid Seungmin a playful “Good night, Seungminnie.” Seungmin, still taken aback by Jeongin’s sudden display of affection, dozed off for a brief moment, his mind filled with thoughts of the significance of Jeongin’s actions.
Jeongin’s uncharacteristic gesture had caught Seungmin off guard. It wasn’t often that Jeongin initiated displays of affection, and this newfound openness intrigued Seungmin. A smile tugged at his lips as he tightly wrapped his arms around Jeongin, refusing to let go.
Teasingly, Seungmin whispered, “Do it again,” hoping to elicit another kiss response from him.
Jeongin attempted to suppress his smile, feigning annoyance as he retorted, “No, let go of me.”
Seungmin, undeterred, drew himself even closer, relishing in playfully getting on Jeongin’s nerves. Eventually, the room fell into a comfortable silence, and Seungmin sealed the night with a soft kiss on Jeongin’s neck, whispering, “Good night, Innie.”
…
It had been a week since their nightly rendezvous had begun, and their connection had grown stronger with each passing day. Their routine had shifted, and now it seemed unimaginable for them to fall asleep without sharing a kiss. While Seungmin had initially taken the lead in initiating those tender moments, Jeongin had gradually stepped up, becoming the one to initiate most of the kisses lately.
Their intimacy had extended beyond the confines of Jeongin’s room, as they found themselves stealing kisses in unexpected places, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
Seungmin and Jeongin were comfortably seated side by side on the couch, engrossed in their binge-watching session of their favorite series. The atmosphere was cozy, and they sat close to each other, their shoulders occasionally brushing as they shared the excitement of the storyline.
After a while, Seungmin felt the need to replenish their snacks and drinks. He announced his intentions, saying, “Damn, it’s empty. I’ll get some new snacks from the kitchen.” Jeongin, absorbed in the show, responded absentmindedly, murmuring an agreement without really registering the words.
Smirking mischievously, Seungmin contemplated how to grab Jeongin’s attention. He swiftly stood in front of Jeongin, blocking his path, and bent down slightly to bring their faces on the same level. In an impulsive move, Seungmin planted a quick, unexpected kiss on Jeongin’s lips. He chuckled as he repeated his statement, “I’ll get some more snacks.”
Jeongin’s eyes widened in shock at the sudden display of affection. A small whine of dissatisfaction escaped his lips, and without thinking twice, he reached out, gripping Seungmin’s wrist to stop him from walking away. Pulling him closer, their faces inches apart, Jeongin deepened the kiss, savoring the moment.
Breaking the kiss, Jeongin pouted playfully and quipped, “Now you can get new snacks. I’m hungry.” A hint of a blush colored his cheeks as he hid his face in his arms, a mix of embarrassment and excitement flooding his senses.
Seungmin laughed heartily, shaking his head at Jeongin’s adorable reaction. Rolling his eyes playfully, he replied, “Okay, your majesty. I shall fulfill your royal hunger desires.” With that, he made his way to the kitchen.
Jeongin couldn’t help but mutter to himself, cheeks still flushed.
Oh my god, that’s so embarrassing.
A mixture of self-amusement and embarrassment danced within him. Yet, deep down, he cherished these moments of vulnerability and the deepening bond between them.
…
As night fell, Seungmin and Jeongin found themselves in the familiar confines of Jeongin’s room. The day had been long and tiring, filled with the task of reorganizing Jeongin’s entire closet. But now, after hours of hard work, they lay side by side on Jeongin’s bed, their bodies exhausted but their spirits content.
Lying on their backs, both gazing up at the ceiling, Jeongin felt an overwhelming sense of comfort and warmth in Seungmin’s presence. It was a rare occurrence for him to be so clingy, as he typically valued his personal space. However, lately, the desire to be close to Seungmin had been almost insatiable. It was as if Jeongin yearned to merge their beings, their bodies becoming one.
Feeling the shift in Jeongin’s behavior, Seungmin turned to him, his voice laced with curiosity as he asked, “What’s up?”
Jeongin, snuggling close to Seungmin’s side and burying his face in Seungmin’s neck, let out a soft breath that sent delightful shivers down Seungmin’s spine. He replied, barely above a whisper, “Thank you for helping me clean my closet.”
Seungmin smiled affectionately at Jeongin in that moment. While he cherished their usual banter and teasing, it was these tender moments that held a special place in his heart. It was a glimpse into a softer side of their friendship, a vulnerability they only shared with each other. “Of course, no problem,” Seungmin replied, his voice filled with sincerity.
Jeongin’s gaze flickered to Seungmin’s lips, a subtle longing in his eyes. Seungmin couldn’t help but notice and playfully offered, “You’ve already had two kisses today. Want a third one?”
Jeongin blushed ever so slightly, his voice tinged with mock offense as he responded, “Goodnight kisses are a must, don’t you think?”
Seungmin chuckled at Jeongin’s reaction and nodded, saying, “Mkay, come here then.” Without hesitation, Jeongin closed the little gap that remained between them, inching closer until their bodies were practically molded together. It was a sensation Jeongin cherished, the closeness bringing him immense comfort and joy. Seungmin closed the final distance, their lips meeting in a sweet and tender kiss.
After a while, they broke the kiss, and Seungmin pressed a gentle kiss to Jeongin’s forehead. “Goodnight, Innie,” he whispered, his words filled with warmth and adoration.
The phrase echoed in Jeongin’s mind, bringing a smile to his lips. Being called “Innie” by Seungmin was a unique privilege, a term of endearment only Seungmin used. It held a special place in Jeongin’s heart, a reminder of the deep bond they shared.
“Goodnight, Seungmin,” Jeongin murmured softly, his voice filled with affection. With their bodies intertwined, they drifted off to sleep, finding solace and comfort in each other’s embrace.
…
A full month had passed since that first kiss, and not a single night had gone by without their customary goodnight kiss. But things had shifted in that time. No longer was it Seungmin entering Jeongin’s room to seek affection, but rather Jeongin himself—venturing into Seungmin’s room, always leaving (or staying) with a successful exchange of kisses.
Tonight was like any other night, their routine playing out seamlessly.
Jeongin was already seated on Seungmin’s bed, patiently awaiting Seungmin’s arrival. Seungmin, having just finished his bath and caught off guard by Jeongin’s presence, couldn’t help but smirk as he locked the door behind him and approached the bed. “Hey, Innie,” he said, a mischievous glint in his eyes. “Waiting for your daily dose of good night kisses?”
Jeongin rolled his eyes, trying to conceal the fluttering feeling in his chest. “Don’t make it sound so cheesy,” he retorted.
Seungmin laughed and joined him on the bed, sitting down beside him. With a soft gaze, Seungmin brushed a strand of Jeongin’s hair behind his ear and said, “You know you secretly love it.”
Jeongin huffed, attempting to mask his growing affection. “You wish,” he replied, though the corners of his lips betrayed a hint of a smile.
Seungmin couldn’t resist and wrapped his arms around Jeongin, drawing him closer. The embrace felt comforting to both of them, a familiar place where they found solace.
After a while of casual conversation, Jeongin freed himself from Seungmin’s arms and climbed onto his lap. Sitting there, on the lap of a slightly flustered Seungmin, Jeongin asked playfully, “So?”
Seungmin chuckled, teasingly remarking, “That eager, huh?”
Jeongin rolled his eyes and, sounding slightly desperate, said, “Are you finally going to kiss me if I say yes?”
Seungmin laughed again and assured him, “No worries, I got the memo.” And with that, Seungmin closed the gap between them, their lips meeting in a passionate kiss.
Jeongin couldn’t find the words to describe the feeling that surged through him. He adored Seungmin’s kisses—their taste, their warmth, and most importantly, the way they made him feel. It was a sense of comfort, safety, appreciation, and love. Yes, love. The word constantly danced in Jeongin’s mind, and he couldn’t deny the depth of his feelings for Seungmin anymore.
After a long and tender embrace, Jeongin nestled his face into the crook of Seungmin’s neck, still perched on his lap. Seungmin couldn’t help but utter, “You’re so adorable,” eliciting a playful warning from Jeongin. “Stop, or I’ll bite you.”
Seungmin chuckled and gently stroked Jeongin’s back, both of them relishing in the quiet and comfortable moment. As their eyelids grew heavy, Seungmin whispered, “Goodnight, Innie.” Jeongin replied softly, “Goodnight, Seungminnie.”
Jeongin, however, remained awake, his thoughts drifting into the night. Love. What was love, exactly? He undeniably felt something for Seungmin, but was it truly love? Did it have to be love? Could it not simply be two best friends who were exceptionally close? Was that possible?
But deep down, Jeongin knew he couldn’t deny his true feelings.
He was undeniably, irrevocably in love with Kim Seungmin, his best friend. As he looked at the slumbering Seungmin with fondness, Jeongin came to a resolute realization—yes, it was abundantly clear. He was in love, and he couldn’t deny it any longer.
…
Two days had passed since Jeongin had acknowledged his potential feelings for Seungmin. However, he made a conscious effort not to let those feelings overshadow their friendship. He knew that even if Seungmin didn’t feel the same way, it wouldn’t change the bond they shared. Their friendship was strong enough to withstand any outcome. And so, life continued as usual, with no apparent changes.
Tonight was another typical night. Jeongin found himself sitting on Seungmin’s lap, engaged in conversation. But Jeongin wanted Seungmin to know, to truly understand his emotions. He wanted him to grasp the impact he had on his heart. Jeongin wanted Seungmin to know that he was in too deep to turn back now. And so, he took a deep breath and decided to open up.
Still seated on Seungmin’s lap, Jeongin leaned back slightly to look at Seungmin’s face. He began, “Seungmin, have you ever thought about... us? About what we’re doing?”
Seungmin held Jeongin’s waist tightly, making sure he wouldn’t slip off. He hummed in response and asked, “What are we doing?”
Rolling his eyes, Jeongin replied, “Seungmin, we kiss.”
Seungmin nodded and teasingly asked, “And?”
Confused, Jeongin questioned, “What do you mean ‘and’? Friends don’t do that, do they?”
Seungmin chuckled and said, “Well, do you like it? Do you like it when we kiss?”
Jeongin, while rolling his eyes playfully, responded, “Yeah, of course I do. Otherwise, I wouldn’t keep wanting to do it.”
Seungmin shrugged and casually stated, “I like it too, so I don’t see the problem.”
Jeongin mumbled, “Isn’t this weird, though?”
Seungmin laughed and said, “It’s only weird if you make it weird.”
Jeongin sighed and continued, “But what are we, Seungmin? Are we just best friends who happen to kiss every night? Or are we...”
Before he could finish his sentence, Seungmin interjected, “Or are we more than that?”
Jeongin nodded, his eyes searching Seungmin’s for confirmation. He saw adoration, fondness, and affection reflected in Seungmin’s gaze.
Seungmin stroked Jeongin’s back gently and asked, “Do you want us to be more?”
Jeongin met Seungmin’s eyes, his heart pounding in his chest. He took a deep breath and replied, “I’m not sure, but... well, I have feelings for you, and I love you? I know it might seem out of nowhere, but I realized it just two nights ago when you were holding me on your lap… just like this. I realized I had been slowly falling for you without even realizing it, until I was in too deep. Because, you know... falling for you feels easy, and it feels nice.”
Blushing intensely, Jeongin hid his face in the crook of Seungmin’s neck. Seungmin chuckled softly and whispered, “You’re so cute.” He then held Jeongin, gently lifting his face to meet his gaze. Seungmin began, “You know... I love you too, Jeongin.”
Jeongin let out a relieved breath and exclaimed, “Holy shit, I almost peed my pants.”
Seungmin laughed and planted a kiss on Jeongin’s neck. Leaning closer, their faces barely inches apart, Seungmin smirked and said, “Well, now that we’ve acknowledged our feelings, I think it’s time for the goodnight kiss?”
Jeongin laughed and replied, “You’re such an idiot.”
Seungmin pretended to be hurt and exclaimed, “Didn’t you tell me how much you love me just a few moments ago?”
Jeongin playfully rolled his eyes and retorted, “Yeah, I did. Now kiss me.”
Seungmin laughed, shaking his head, and said, “You’re impossible.” And with that, he kissed Jeongin once again. This time, the kiss held more passion, more love. Jeongin felt an indescribable bliss, and he knew deep down that he would never stop wanting to kiss Seungmin. It was an irresistible desire.
After breaking the kiss, Seungmin chuckled and suggested, “Want to move to the bed? I can’t feel my legs anymore.”
Jeongin laughed, got off Seungmin’s lap, and threw himself onto the bed. Seungmin quickly joined him, and not long after, they became a cuddly mess.
Seungmin yawned, clearly ready to sleep, and planted a quick kiss on Jeongin’s lips. He whispered, “I love you, Innie,” before drifting off to sleep.
Jeongin felt like he had died and gone to heaven. The contentment he experienced was unparalleled. He turned to look at the sleeping Seungmin, kissing his forehead gently. Snuggling closer to Seungmin’s side, Jeongin whispered, “I love you too, Seungminnie,” before allowing sleep to claim him.
