Work Text:
It’s unfair of him to be hurt. The trip had been planned for months, and Stephen was the one who’d been off in another dimension and missed it. But when he’d worried about the timing, he’d thought Tony would cancel.
He hadn’t imagined that Tony would go without him.
“It’s fine,” Stephen says stiffly.
“It’s obviously not fine.” Tony blows out a breath. “What do you want me to say?”
Tell me you need me. Tell me you couldn’t enjoy it without me.
All Stephen says is, “I’m the one who missed it.”
The trip.
His chance.
He’d missed it.
