Chapter Text
It was not every day that Yoo Joonghyuk was able to snag a fresh piece of high-quality salmon. On a bad day, Yoo Joonghyuk would have been forced to rely on salmon onigiris from the family store down the street. Of course, those onigiris did not taste bad, but a courting gift for Kim Dokja must be of the highest quality. After all, Kim Dokja loved to eat salmon as it was his favorite food, second only to meat dumplings. It would have been greater than great if Yoo Joonghyuk were able to bring Kim Dokja some meat dumplings, but he had yet to figure out how to carry them around without ripping them open.
Within a few seconds, Yoo Joonghyuk squeezed under the gate of one of the biggest properties in town.
“Look, Sangah-ya! It’s Dokja-ya’s boyfriend.” A loud voice called out from further in the property.
A brown-haired woman stepped out of the glass sliding door at the side of the house. She carefully set down a small bowl filled with water in front of the big black cat.
“Good morning, Hyuk-ie. What do you have there? A present for Dokja-ya?”
The big black cat lets out a deep and rumbling purr from the back of its throat. Yoo Joonghyuk was not an affectionate cat, but these two humans were important to the cat he was courting, so he reluctantly wound around their legs. Just once. Enough to get his scent on them for Kim Dokja to smell.
As usual, Yoo Joonghyuk lays his gift on a small tray by the glass door before yowling and pawing at the door. He doesn’t dare try to scratch at the glass. The first and last time he tried resulted in a god-awful screeching sound, and he was chased off by that dark-haired woman. Initially, even the yowling was unacceptable for both humans, but so far it has always successfully attracted the attention of the cat inside the house, so everyone will just have to put up with it.
It’s not long before a fluffy white cat bounded up from the other side of the glass door. Dark and starry eyes blink up at the big black cat, and the fluffy marshmallow trills a happy tune in greeting. Both cats headbutt the glass door before lying next to each other.
Once seeing both cats settle down, Yoo Sangah slightly opens the glass door and quickly slides the salmon in. Yoo Joonghyuk mournfully watches the glass door close. Both humans had made sure that both cats knew that Yoo Joonghyuk was not allowed to be in the house, and Kim Dokja was not allowed outside on his own. This was just a precaution, of course. Kim Dokja was a pure white cat, so Han Sooyoung and Yoo Sangah were mindful of his health and safety.
Cats with white fur are believed to be more vulnerable to sickness and physical anomalies. Additionally, they are easier to spot compared to darker-colored cats, so it is safer for Kim Dokja to stay within the eyesight of his two humans.
Furthermore, Yoo Joonghyuk has yet to be given his shots. While Yoo Joonghyuk has not shown any signs of aggressiveness towards Han Sooyoung and Yoo Sangah, there are other humans occasionally around the house. However, this was going to change very soon.
