The entire crew could sense the quiet seething emanating from the helmsman and seemed to collectively agree to stay away for the time being.
All except for one.
Coming back from his rest, Jornir blinked at the dragonborn perched on the railing behind the helm, one almost careless claw stretched out to make small adjustments to the wheel. He perked up when he spotted the firbolg, the smile brightening his face a little too sharp.
"Jornir~ Did you rest well?"
"Hello, Taishen. Our course is off by five degrees."
"Oops! I'm so sorry about that!" He deftly corrected their course, smile even brighter. "I wasn't sure if we were still tracking that ship. It seems awfully far away."
Jornir turned to scan the horizon. Sure enough, their quarry -was- still visible, but only barely.
The anger began bubbling up again. He took the helm back from the cannoneer with a jerk. "Jenkins was to be on the wheel while I was gone. Where is he?"
"Oh. I sent him away. I wanted to talk to you alone, so I decided to wait at the helm!"
"The answer is no, Taishen."
Sliding along the railing until he was no longer behind Jornir's back, Taishen leaned forward. "....why not? You know that you could easily catch up to them during a storm. I have three shots lined up for them, just itching to be fired..."
"You want me to use the power given to me by the gods... to catch a ship in a storm."
"To catch a ship that thought they had bested us. To remind them that they should fear us, even when they are in port."
A long sigh from the firbolg. "...you are sounding too much like Skrimm."
"...these are -very- itchy shots."
Jornir raised his eyes to the sky. A loud rumble of thunder shook the ship as clouds began rolling in, seemingly appearing out of thin air. He raised his voice, booming across the deck. "A storm is brewing. Prepare yourselves."
Crewmates scrambled to their positions as Taishen strolled over to his cannon, rain beginning to hiss off the three small fireballs he let circle around his head. He wedged himself beside the guns, eyes locked on his target.
"...time to scratch an itch.."
