Work Text:

“So, Toya. Care to explain?”

The BAD DOGS stood at the door to the Shinonome’s, with Toya fully drenched in rainwater.

“I’m sorry Akito, I just wanted to see you but I forgot to check the weather forecast today…” Toya started.

Akito sighed and pulled Toya in, closing the door behind them and narrowed his eyes at the other.

Toya pouted.

A groan escaped his lips. “Don’t give me that look, you could’ve caught a cold or fever.”

“If I got sick, you’d have to take care of me.”

“Whatever. It’s late and you’re staying the night, right?”

Toya leaned forward and wrapped his arms around Akito. “Mhm.”

If fucking Satan could talk to Akito, now would be a similar experience. He was practically dragging Toya to “their” room.

It’s not really “his” room if Toya’s always in it.

Once he was plopped on the bed, Toya didn’t move. On purpose. Just to spite Akito while he grabbed a futon to sleep on.

“Toya, you’re sleeping on the bed.”

“Mm.”

“And I’m sleeping on the floor.”

To this the boy on the bed sat up and looked Akito dead in the eyes. “Don’t sleep on the floor, it’s cold.”

“And? It’s the middle of fucking summer, the AC isn’t going to do much.” Akito protested.

“That’s an invalid argument.”

He rolled his eyes. “You might get sick. I can’t get sick from you if that happens, we’ll miss practice.”

“Sleep with me.”

“I’m a human heater.”

“Please?”

“…No.”

Toya laid down in defeat while Akito went to take a shower.

Achoo!

A sneeze woke Akito from his eternal slumber.

Achoo!

And another sneeze made him get up.

Toya was laying on his stomach with his head turned towards Akito.

Achoo!

That’s the third sneeze this morning.

“Akito…? Sniff Are you awake?”

He sat up. “I’m awake, you sound like a toad.”

Toya groaned. “That’s no way to talk to your boyfriend…”

“If it’s true, then then yes it is. You can be my toad.”

“I’m sick, Akito. I’m sick. My forehead is burning. I have a fever. Take care of me now.”

Akito stood up and stretched. “Alright, alright. What do you want with your bitter black coffee?”

“It’s not bitter, it’s nice. I want pancakes with less sugar.” Toya complained.

“Hmph. Fine.”

The rest of the day went by rather uneventfully.

“Rather” being there due to some… minor changes in behaviour.

Akito was obviously not aware of how Toya acted when he was sick, because almost no one has seen him in this state.

So, time skip to some time after they ate dinner.

“Aki.”

He looked up from where he was sitting beside the bed. “Yeah?”

“Come and hug me.” Toya said with a straight face.

“What?” He stifled a laugh. “Are you fucking okay? You never say this.”

Annoyed by this statement, Toya grabbed Akito’s hand and tugged on it. “Please?”

He sighed. “Fine, but don’t blame me if i catch your fever later.”

Toya rolled a bit to the side to make room for his partner to lie down. Akito laid down beside him, keeping a small distance in case he happened to get sick tomorrow.

Soon, he felt Toya reposition himself into a position where he was half sprawled on top of Akito.

“Ngh… please get off, Toya.”

To this, he huffed in annoyance. “You said you would hug me.”

Who was this demon and what had he done to his partner?

Akito gives in and wraps his arms around Toya.

He also makes a mental note to never let him get sick again.

The next morning, Akito finds himself laying on his side and stuck within Toya’s embrace.

He slowly peeled away Toya’s arms, and quietly got up to sneak to the bathroom.

Once the bedroom door was closed, Akito let out a sigh of relief.

He did a little stretch and opened the bathroom door, carefully shutting it behind him to not wake up anyone who might still be sleeping.

Thermometer. Where was the thermometer? He slept beside Toya last night, what if he got sick? He cannot afford to have a fever.

Akito opened a drawer under the sink. There it was! He shook it and put it under his arm.

Five minutes. Five minutes passed by painfully slowly.

And by some miracle, when he took out the thermometer, he didn’t catch a fever.

Akito cheered internally.

Now he had to survive until Toya’s fever subsided.
