"Why her? It could have been you. Why not you?"
- "Because you were there, the person she loved more than anything, the one who gave her a courage that no one could equal, that weakness, what makes you brave. She is not sacrificing for me, nor the world, but for you, saved the world for her, meaning saved yourself."
"I miss her so much," the girl burst out, collapsing on the ground, letting her grief escape from her mutilated heart for the first time.
- "I could not imagine your sorrows, nor expressed my sorrow, for his sacrifice" Clint apologized while coming to crouch at his level, the hands on his shoulder. "I can't imagine the wounds her loss has left you with. If to feel better you have to kill me, do it, my debt to her will finally be fulfilled."
"Isn't your family be your world so that it's not you who jumped up?"
- "I wanted, more than you imagine, Natasha does not deserve that, she was the best of us. She deserves the whole world, she deserves to see you again after five years. She deserves my life. "
- "How do I do now without her, how could she believe that I could bear her loss, live without her?" he no longer had any hatred in his eyes, no more murderous envy, she knew that her sister cared about this man, but she needed answers.
"You were her world, her earth, she was the moon. Without earth the moon drifts forever, until it is destroyed, while earth without a moon, just sinks into darkness. Natasha knew that you know how to find you something to enlighten you, even if it was only a spark. She knew that you would end up finding someone who suited you, who would make you smile, make you happy, allow you to live, she knew that you would end up finding the sun of your life, the one who would be able to compensate for this black darkness by the loss of your satellite, of a part of you.
Yelena looked up at an invisible point in the dark night. The face of a young woman who never ceased to surprise her, to give her a smile, she even laughed once, since when hadn't she laughed? She had no idea.
If she really wanted it, Yelena had already found her sunshine, only to open her eyes and a little courage was necessary for her if she wanted to be able to see clearly in her life again, day and night.
She was going to think about it.
- "I loved her so much."
Without hesitation Clint took her in his arms, hugging her as tight as possible to show her that he would never let go. Natasha was no longer there for her protege Yelena of her life, he would do it for her. He would never leave her.
"I know" he whispered softly in her ear. "I know" he repeated.
They stayed there, on the betum, collapsed in each other's arms, without moving, allowing Yelena to release the hatred, the guilt, the grief, all those destructive feelings that had been destroying her for months, that prevent him from sleeping, who repeats only one thing : "venge there". But it was over now, she no longer needed to resort to this kind of practice, she had these answers, she knew what to do.
Slowly, she moved away from Hawkeye, her face determined, her eyes bright with longing, a look that was enough for Clint to know that Yelena would be up to Black Widow. The Romanoffs had the same look, the one that nailed you to the spot, and assured you that they knew what they were doing and that nothing without exception could stand in the way of it.
only thing can, and today they were mourning this loss.
"What will you do now?"
"I'm going to finish what I started 5 years ago, and..." She looked at her hands, she was tired of people, Nat's words were spinning in her head. She didn't have as dark a past as her sister's, but it was just as bad, and she regretted many things she had done, but unlike Natasha, it didn't eat away at her inside. . So she wouldn't become a hero for this repentance, no, she would do it for her big sister, she would finish what Natasha started. "What Natasha couldn't finish".
- "If you need anything" his sentence remained in suspense, Yelena didn't need him, she knew with her simple look that he would always be there if needed. It was something she had acquired over time, knowing how to understand a person's intention by their simple gestures, by their simple gaze.
"The only thing I need is my sister so don't promise anything you can't keep." The tone used, much drier than before could almost give shivers to Clint, who stepped back slightly it was his sign that told him that this little moment was over. And that they won't become friends anytime soon. "Where is Kate Bishop, I would like to talk to her"
Clint smiled, so that was it? Just like him with Natasha, Yelena seemed to have found the one that allowed her to choose the right path. When Kate had told him of the time when she could have shot Yelena but had finally decided not to, he had thought of that night when he had made the same choice with Natasha.
"She's in her aunt's apartment." He patted his uniform for something, when he found what he was looking for, which meant a pen, he grabbed the widow's hand and she let it go. and gave him the address. "Try to go through the door so as not to scare him, his week was hard enough as it is"
- "I do what I want" Clint did not need his approval to know that she would do it, Yelena was informed about Kate, she knew very well that the events of the week were very hard for her, and that few people would have come out of it alive and intact physically, as well as morally. Kate was brave and had a good heart, which is what drives Yelena to find her.
- "It's nothing new with the Romanoffs."
- "I am Belova"
- "Yelena Belova, whether you like it or not, you are also a Romanoff."
The young woman does not seem convinced but Clint with a wave of his hand tells her to go away.
- "You have a mission to accomplish, a sun have found"
Yelena looks at him one last time with a smile, looks at his hand, then she runs away.
She had already found someone who could shed light on her life, which had darkened since the death of Natasha Romanoff; Kate Bishop.
As he watched Yelena walk away in the dark of night, Clint hoped for one thing, and that was for them to succeed.
Their stories began as his and Natasha's, he hoped with all his heart that it wouldn't end like theirs and at the cost of his life if necessary, he would make sure it ended well. He will finish what Nat started; He will save that sister, he will protect them.
Now that he was alone without anyone, silent tears flowed down his cheeks. She failed him, he had lost a part of him, no one came out of this confrontation unscathed, and seeing Yelena in this state tore his heart and above all confirmed that Natasha deserves life much more than him.
He looked up at the sky to observe the cloud-obstructed moon.
- "I'm sorry Natasha" His words flew away, accompanied by all the unspoken promises and respect he showed for this woman. Accompanied by all the tributes he will pay her throughout his life, because he will never be able to appease this void that she had left, just like in that of Yelena.
"It can never be 'ok'..."
