Chapter Text
The light of the room was too bright.
Oh my goddd, who decided to have bright fluorescent lights in a waiting room? Way to irritate all your clients before they're even in the room .
Your ears felt clogged with the sound of the damn fluorescent lights overhead. And it wasn't just that, the chairs were rough against your skin and your clothes, (a simple, well loved, black hoodie with red markings, and some jeans) fell off today. The chatter of the others in the room was loud for a waiting room. The obnoxious blue of the walls causes a headache to form in your head and deepen rabidly.
You're coming to talk to a therapist about your messed up lives, what's there to talk about… You sigh as you let your brain wander too food, clothes, and the occasional very good-looking person.
“Y/n l/n?” You quickly walk the way that the receptionist tells you, you don't really listen to her directions as you walk the way you know you need too. . Down the hall, to the left, stop at the door, knock, and open. You do this with practiced ease.
I mean, I do go here once a week. You think to yourself
As You walk in, you're greeted by a familiar skeletal face. As he smiles, he says your name and gestures for you to sit. His office isn't as bad as the waiting room, the colors of the office are a mix of neutrals and reds. The big windows on the left side of the room are open, letting in a nice breeze. You sit on one of the two leather couches in the room, across from the skeleton who's getting his notebook, pencil and computer ready for our session.
“Good afternoon, ” He says your name with a genuine, but tight-lipped smile and a gesture of his hands as he gets comfy on the couch across from the one you're sitting at.
“Good afternoon, Wine.”
You nod his way. As you sit down you get right to it, you tell him the problems you’ve been having the last month or so and more. He nods along and asks questions as he can, telling you to elaborate at some parts and for you to continue on others, his red eyes narrow at you and he shakes his head when you start talking about some of your more unsavory habits.
“You know that you shouldn’t drink. As your therapist, I don’t think I have to tell you that it is wrong for you.” He shakes his head at you, the sound of the stiff collar of his dark red, pressed dress shirt is the only thing you hear as you think about what he said.
You shake your head, chuckling slightly and bitterly. “Yeah, well, at least I'm actually telling you I'm drinking and not keeping it to myself.” Your arms become crossed in front of you, huffing at his comment.
Wine nods, his face morphing into a more forgiving expression, like he is considering your words for a second. As he does this, you look at him, like really look at him. It seems like the bags under his eye sockets have gotten lighter, and he's a lot more tidy and cleaner than the first time you met him. Also, he has definitely warmed up to you a little more. That thought gets you thinking about when you first meet him…
He was cold, unreasonably. He was in another office before this one, that one was cramped and small, the furniture of the room was mostly metal and it just made goosebumps appear on your skin. You remember walking in, meeting his eyes and sitting. His red eyes were pinpricks as you watched him scribble stuff down in his notebook and then meet your one eye. If you don't want to be here, maybe you shouldn't have picked this profession, asshole. You remember being as cold as he was. That session was not the best, you clearly understood he didn't want to be there and, to be honest, neither did you.
You snap out of your thoughts as you realize Wine had been talking for a while.
“Yes, and so that is why I have to move offices. Though I guarantee you will stay my client, yes?” He looks up at me, eye lights meeting mine, piercing. You hum, it's not like you want to change therapists again, last time it took a while to find one willing to take you. You grimace at the thought, and then smile at Wine.
“Yeah I guess, you'll still be in the area right?” He nods, and tells me that time is up. You say your goodbyes and leave the office quickly, wanting to leave the suffocating building behind, you walk to a cafe nearby.
The cafe, a cute and bustling building that's just a few blocks down from Wines office. You've heard about this cafe for a while, Muffets looked like a nice place to relax, especially after more stressful days. As you walk in you see every seat in the cafe filled with people, the nice ambience of the cafe drags you in deeper, and brings you to a long line of people. As you look at the interior of the cafe you note that it's very...purple. The curtains, ,the seats, and even some of the tables are a nice purple. You also notice the small, almost unnoticeably spiders crawling around, you stare a bit at them and how they look like they are hiding from the humans in the cafe. The line gets smaller as you look around, and in no time you're at the front, looking at the menu options. A tall, purple spider in an equally as purple suit as the cafe greets you.
“Hello dearie! Welcome to Muffets, what can I get you?” Her multiple eyes look down at you, you realize that she really was tall, at least taller than you, and you were taller than most girls.
You ordered quickly and efficiently, a donut and a coffee. As she rang you up, you took a bite of the donut, telling her that it tasted good and asking what was in the donuts.
“Its spiders dear, spider dust to be exact. “ Her eyes narrow slightly as she says this ,as she hisses slightly, like she was waiting for you to lash out.
You stop for a moment, your chewing slows as you look at the donut, at her, the spider waving at you on your hand, and then keep eating.
Spiders, hm. At least it tastes good.
“It's good, I like it.” You put the spider that had climbed on your hand without you noticing down, put down a twenty and left.
As you walked back to the offices where your car was parked, you thought about the cafe. You weren't weirded out by the spider thing, you just didn't expect it. But maybe you shouldn't have rushed out. You grimace as you realize that she probably thought you as rude and a hater for leaving so quickly. As you drink you coffee you turn the corner and… well fuck. You ram, face first into a tall, red sweater wearing, incredibly angry skeleton. He scowls at you as both of your drinks spill to the ground and bounces slightly. As you stare at him, slightly out of it and dumbfounded by this situation- you realize that the coffee is in his red weather and all over your hands. He's still yelling at you as you're stuck in your spot, thinking about your wasted coffee and donut.
“WHY ARE YOU STILL STANDING THERE? YOU DUMB HUMANS REALLY HAVE ZERO DECORUM!” His red eyelights stare you down. As he finishes speaking your brain catches up with what just happened and starts to bend down to pick up the cups.
“Oh shit. Damnnit, I'm so sorry-, “You swear as your hands go to quickly pick up the cups bringing them to the nearest trashcan and quickly coming back.”I wasn't watching where I was going and I-I’m just sorry..shit.” Your hands go to smooth down your hair as you remembered his stained sweater.
“I can pay for your coffee man, again I'm sorry. I should’ve been paying more attention.”
“THAT YOU SHOULD’VE, “ He rolls his red eyelights at you, which gets you a little irate.
“Yeah... '' You deadpanned… You sigh and calm down before you let your emotions get ahead of you. You're in the wrong, he has the right to be upset right now. You just want to get this done with at this point, you have a lot to do tomorrow due to the move and you know you're going to have to wake up early. “Listen man, I can give you my number and you can call me whenever you want the coffee, on me. I'll even pay for a new sweater if you want, alright?”
His nose cavity turns up, as he looks done at you. He isn't even that much taller than you, your head is about shoulder length for him, which means that he's around 6 '4. His face looks around yours, his eyelights scrutinizing your every move. Damn, should I also have offered to buy him a car? You stare back at him as he slowly nods at your question.
“THAT WOULD BE ADEQUATE HUMAN, AT LEAST YOU KNOW YOU OWN ME!”
He laughs, or you think he laughs, it sounded more like a ‘NYEH’ than a normal laugh. He hands you his phone, as you quickly put in your number. Setting your name, you give back the phone and say your goodbye and hastily walk away.
As you get into your car and drive to your house, you mourn the loss of your donut and coffee, telling yourself that you treat yourself one of these days with Muffets again. As you get home, to your packed up house, filled to the brim with boxes, you shower and change. You watch videos on your phone until it is dark enough that it's socially acceptable for you to nap.
As you drift in and out of sleep you think of the day. You think about Wine and your therapy appointment that day, you think about Muffet and her delicious spider donuts, and how awkward it was when you accidentally ran away. You also thought about the tall skeleton that was rude hoping that he'd just call and you could get it over with. As you finish your thoughts and started thinking about something else, your eyes closed and you fell asleep.
