Chapter Text

"What do you think, love?"

"I think it's perfect."

Nick grinned. "Me too." He turned to the landlord that had been showing them around. "We'll take-"

Nick and Charlie had been hunting for their first flat for months now. Not some uni flat with a tiny bed that they could barely share. Not Nick's flat that Charlie occasionally crashed at during his last year of school. Their flat. The first home of many that they would own together. So of course, it had to be perfect, and after months of searching, it seemed that they had finally found the one.

Which is why they were surprised at the look on the landlord's face when Nick started telling him that they were sold.

It was... angry? Shocked? Disgusted?

"Is everything okay?" Nick asked.

The man coughed. "I-I'm sorry, did you just call him love?"

"Erm, yes?" Nick said, tilting his head. "He's my boyfriend."

The landlord's eyes widened in a way that would have been comical if Nick and Charlie didn't already see where this was going.

"Oh, you're one of those... homosexuals," he spat.

Nick chuckled darkly, wrapping his arm around Charlie's waist. "Actually I'm bisexual, but yes, we are in a same-sex relationship. Is that a problem?"

The man muttered something that sounded like all these damn labels under his breath, scowling. "I will not have homosexuals sharing a flat in my building."

If he wasn't so nervous, Charlie would've laughed at the way this bigot kept saying homosexual, as if simply saying the word would turn him gay.

"Well, then I guess we'll be looking somewhere else," Nick said, already walking towards the door, still clinging protectively to Charlie. "Have a nice day."

His tone indicated that he did not, in fact, want this man to have a nice day.

"Hey, wait a second," the landlord said, seemingly realizing at last that he was losing possible renters. "One of you can still live here."

Charlie actually laughed at that. Nick simply rolled his eyes.

"I don't think you understand," Nick said. "We're looking for a flat together. We're partners."

"We're a package deal," Charlie added, daring to wink at the landlord before kissing Nick's cheek. "And we'll be going now. Together."

Notes:

I don't actually know how buying/renting a flat/apartment works, especially not in England, but hey creative liberties and all that right?

Thank you so much for reading, and I hope to see you tomorrow <3
