Hitoshi's day was definitely not off to the greatest start ever. Firstly he woke up, -and that was a problem on its own, in Hitoshi's opinion- tired out of his mind, like usual. So that already put a dampener on his mood. But now, he was a fluffy purple cat. What the fuck?
Hitoshi sighed as he sat up from his bed, his head felt like it was stuffed to the brim with cotton balls, and it’s not like it’s anything new, it’s still annoying though. He mindlessly started going through the motions of getting ready, lazily putting on his clothes and brushing his teeth, before quickly eating his breakfast. It was simple, just butter on bread, but it was good enough for him. He said a quick goodbye to his foster parents, before making his way out of the house and to UA. He lazily stared forward as he walked, his tired gaze focusing on nothing in particular.
Though all of the sudden he felt himself being pushed to the side, out of someone's way, and suddenly he was in the center of a cloud of purplish-pink smoke. His eyes widened, and at first he thought it was some type of poison. Was he being targeted by a villain? He held his breath and went to cover his mouth, only to notice the sudden change in his anatomy. He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, patting at (what is supposed to be) his nose, only to be met with a furry snout. The small dust cloud around him quickly cleared, and he could see someone, most likely the cause of the smoke, running off, seemingly in a hurry. The first thing that stuck out to Shinsou was that they were giant, the second was that he was also weirdly close to the ground, did he fall? He went to open his mouth, to shout at them to stop, but was only met with a loud meow. His jaw hurriedly clicked closed, and he looked down at himself, trying to figure out why the fuck he just meowed.
He was only met with a fluffy purple chest and small paws. He squinted his eyes, wondering if he was hallucinating for a minute, before freaking out. His hands, well now paws, patted at his body, trying to be sure it was actually his. He could feel something on his head twitch, and a purple tail waved at him from his peripheral. Hitoshi sat on the sidewalk shell shocked for a moment, before he looked around, seeing his raggedy black backpack, though his school uniform was nowhere in sight. He needed to check something. Like he really needed to check something.
He scurried over to his backpack, tumbling and tripping over himself, not used to walking on four legs. Wait what the fuck? Four legs? Hitoshi was horrified. He fumbled with the zipper of the front pocket on the backpack, struggling to open it, before deciding ‘fuck it’ and promptly biting at the slider and yanking it down. He pulled it open, slipping his hand (arm) into the now overly large pocket. He quickly found what he was searching for, pulling the device out and almost dropping it. He took a deep breath, his heart pounding in his furry chest, before looking down at the black screen. It reflected the light, and let Hitoshi use it as a makeshift mirror, seeing as he couldn’t really unlock his phone in this predicament.
He sharply breathed in horror, the face that met him was most definitely not his, but a cat's. It was most definitely a cat's. There were purple ears on his head, a spot of black on the tips, and below them were wide purple irises and black slits for pupils. He didn’t have eyebags in this ‘form’, but instead black markings rested under his eyes, and there were two more black markings right above either of Hitoshi's eyes, making the illusion of circular eyebrows. He balked. Hitoshi could have sworn he felt the fur on the back of his neck rising, as he dropped the phone and took a step back. He sat on his hind legs and cradled his head in his paws. What the actual fuck is happening? Hitoshi questioned himself. Thoughts raced through his mind, would he ever be able to turn back? Is he stuck like this forever?? Panic rose in his chest, but he quickly took a deep breath to try and ease his panic.
Okay, just get to Aizawa-Sensei and tell him what happened. Easy peasy. His brain soothed, and he looked back at his backpack, unsure of what to do with it. He didn’t really have anything valuable in it someone would steal, but it still probably wasn't the best idea to leave it here.
He thought quickly, before making the decision to leave his items in a bush to come back to. Hitoshi quickly pulled his UA ID out of his backpack, then gently set it on the ground. He took the handle of the backpack between his teeth, as he wasn’t able to pick it up in his small size, and dragged it over to a bush not too far away from him, his paws skidding against the ground as he struggled. He had worked up a sweat (metaphorically since cats can’t sweat) by the time the backpack was next to the bush, and he took a moment to pant before stuffing the backpack into the bush and basically burying it. He glanced back at his phone, still in its spot on the floor where he dropped it. He furrowed his small brows before trotting over and taking the pop socket into his mouth, almost gagging at the taste of floor. His phone was too valuable to leave here, so his next best option was to take it with him. He sighed as he also inserted his pass into his mouth, cringing. He still didn’t know where his uniform was.
Without another thought, Hitoshi began to run to his destination, as fast as his legs would carry him, phone and pass carried in his mouth as he tried to work out how he would explain the situation to Aizawa. After what felt like an eternity of running he finally came to his destination, earlier than most students in his class despite his situation. He spat the items out of his mouth, panting. He sat down for a moment, his small frame heaving. Hitoshi quickly picked the items back up, once again wrinkling his small snout in disgust. He rushed into the school and climbed what felt like way too many stairs to get to his classroom. He finally made it to class 1-A, and since he couldn’t reach the door handle he hopelessly pawed at the door. What was he supposed to do? He totally didn’t think of this. He almost felt like giving up hope, but his thought process was interrupted as the door opened, revealing an annoyed looking Aizawa.
Shouta blinked his eyes lazily upon seeing no one outside, he could of sworn he heard something scratching at the classroom door. His frown deepened as he looked around, but he was cut off when he heard something clatter to the floor and a breathy meow below him. Shouta looked down with a scowl, before slowly dropping to the floor on his hands and knees. He softly rubbed his thumb and index finger together, motioning for the kitty to come closer. Hitoshi watched as Aizawa made strange cooing noises, trying to coerce him nearer. He shook the thoughts from his mind and began trying to frantically explain his situation to the teacher, but he was caught off guard when it just came out in meows. He felt like crying.
Suddenly he remembers he brought his phone though. He hurriedly flipped the device over, not paying attention to the curious look Aizawa was giving him. Hitoshi struggled to unlock the phone, paws making it difficult to properly type in the numbers. After he finally managed to turn the device on he frantically swiped into his notes app, beginning to type a simple sentence that got his point across:
Aizawa-sensei, it’s shinsou hitshi. i got turned into a cat by someonws quirk and i dont know how to reverse it
He ignored the spelling mistakes as he quickly turned the phone so it faced his teacher, and he watched as Aizawa's ruby eyes scanned the devices screen before his cheeks flushed slightly red in embarrassment upon his previous actions. Aizawa slightly buried his face in his capture weapon more before standing up, he cleared his throat before speaking.
“I’ll take you to Recovery Girl to see if she can do anything, but you might just have to stay like that for now.” The hobo looking man stated in his usual monotone voice, leaving no room for argument. Hitoshi wanted to ask about the class, but as he glanced back at his phone he realized that it wouldn’t start for another 30-40 minutes, and that Iida was the only one inside the room, as usual. He narrowed his eyes when the man pocketed his phone, but he followed the taller man down the hall without complaint.
“Are you hurt at all?” Aizawa questioned, turning his head to look at the cat trailing him. Hitoshi thought for a second before shaking his head. Aizawa hummed and turned back to look ahead. A few early birds stared at him weirdly when he passed them, but Hitoshi figured ignoring them would just be the easiest course of action. The walk wasn’t long, only around 5 minutes, and when they arrived Aizawa made his presence known with a firm knock before sliding the door open, not waiting for a reply. Recovery Girl turned to look at them, a questioning look when she saw no injuries on the man. Though she stopped when she saw the cat beside him. She was about to open her mouth before Aizawa interjected.
“My student, Shinsou Hitoshi, was hit by an unknown quirk on his way to school. He is unable to speak.” Shota stated blandly, cutting to the chase. Recovery Girls eyebrows darted up in surprise, before she schooled her expression and responded.
“I see. Just sit on the cot for me, Dearie. I have a few questions. Don’t worry, they’ll all be yes or no.” Recovery Girl gestured to the cot behind her as she sat on a stool next to it. Hitoshi hesitantly walked forward, glancing back at Aizawa as the man lazily leaned against the door frame. He struggled to jump up on the cot, unused to how different his body was now, though Recovery Girl seemed to notice his struggle as she easily leaned down and picked him up with ease. A surprised squeak came out of him as he was suddenly moved, and the older woman chuckled as she set him on the bed. She pulled out what seemed to be a clipboard and a pen and began asking questions. Aizawa stayed in the doorway, Hitoshi assumed it was to take him back to class, or to the office depending on how this went.
“Now Dearie, do you know who it was that used their quirk on you?” The woman questioned, glancing up from her clipboard to check Hitoshi's response. He shook his head no, and watched as she wrote something down.
“Did you pass out at any point after the quirk was used on you?” He shook his head.
“Have you felt nauseous or dizzy at all?” Hitoshi thought for a minute before shaking his head once again. The questioning continued like that until Recovery Girl decided she had enough information.
“Well my quirk is unable to help with this, since it’s not an injury. But you should be able to go through your day relatively normal, as far as I'm aware the quirk used on you will wear off soon enough, if not you can come back to me, or be brought to a hospital. Besides being a cat, you seem fine. I’ll allow you to return to your class, under the condition you are under strict watch for any changes.” The woman said pleasantly as she pat Hitoshi's fluffy head, he mentally groaned, he’s not even allowed to go home. Recovery Girl scooped him up and dumped him into Aizawa's arms, startling the man into jumping and almost dropping him. She patted his head as a goodbye before grabbing him by the ear.
“Now you stay out of trouble, young man.” She firmly reprimanded, eyes narrowing. The grab didn’t particularly hurt, but it was firm enough to get her point across, Hitoshi gingerly nodded in response, and he was quickly released from the old lady's grip. Before he knew it, Aizawa was walking back to the classroom, and Hitoshi suddenly realized he didn’t know how long they were in Recovery Girls office. Had class already started? He glanced up at Aizawa, and as if reading his mind the older man began speaking.
“Don’t worry, kid. We still have around 10 minutes till class starts.” Hitoshi sighed in relief, but was quickly filled with an impending sense of doom as the man stared down at him darkly.
“Expect to be pushed harder in training. Just because you got turned into a cat doesn’t mean you get to take away my nap time.” Aizawa said, before looking back up and continuing to walk. Hitoshi's jaw dropped in horror. He was fucked. Before he knew it, Aizawa was opening the door to the classroom and lazily walking inside. He ignored the confused stares from his students and set Hitoshi on the podium in the front of the room, before promptly pulling his sleeping bag out of who-knows-where and laying down on the floor. Hitoshi awkwardly sat down, unsure of what he was supposed to do when almost all his classmates were staring at him in either confusion or excitement, occasionally both. But no one dared to ask, too scared their teacher would expel them. Hitoshi sighed and began waiting for class to start, Aizawa would most likely explain it to the others so he didn’t get any more looks. It felt like the longest ten minutes ever, but finally the school bell rang, and Aizawa climbed out of his piss colored sleeping bag. Hitoshi sighed in relief
Aizawa stepped up to the podium and began explaining the strangely colored cat before hands could start going up.
“Shinsou got turned into a cat by someone's quirk, who wants to watch him for the day.” The grumpy man offered plainly, watching tiredly as the children's jaws dropped in shock, or some sputtered. Hitoshi turned around and looked at him in horror. I’m being watched by one of them?!? Aizawa just smirked down at him and picked the first person who raised their hand. Hitoshi didn’t even notice someone was picked, he just stared blankly at the wall behind his teacher. But suddenly he was jerked out of his trance as Aizawa gently flicked his forehead to get his attention.
“Go over to Midoriya's desk, I have a lesson to start.” If Hitoshi could, he would slap the fuck out of his teacher, but unfortunately, he didn’t want to be expelled when he only made it to this class 2 weeks ago. By gods did he not want to hang out with the green haired ball of sunshine that he absolutely didn’t have a crush on. He totally didn’t. He didn’t come to this school to make friends, no matter if the person somehow managed to weasel his way into Hitoshi's life and forcefully sit by him at lunch, no, he came here to be a hero. Aizawa just had to pick the absolute worst person to be with him for the entire day. He sighed mournfully and hopped off the podium, doing the walk of shame over to Izuku's desk.
He stopped in front of the boys desk, unsure of how to get up, or where he should even sit. But of course the green haired boy just had to smile so brightly down at him, and ever so gently pick him up by the armpits and deposit him on his lap. Hitoshi wanted to die right now. He probably looked so pathetic. A soothing hand gently carded over his head and down his neck, and he couldn’t help but lean into the touch. And if he started purring, then that was no one's business, even if he could hear a shocked laugh coming from someone, who he assumed to be Hanta. Hitoshi couldn’t help himself as he felt his eyes slip closed ever so slowly. Izuku just continued his ministrations, focusing his eyes on the board but sending a fond smile Hitoshi's way every now and then.
Izuku leaned down ever so slightly, realizing Hitoshi was fighting to stay awake. “Don’t worry, I’ll let you borrow my notes once you turn back. Assuming you will turn back.” Izuku whispered into Hitoshi's ear gently, and god, what did Hitoshi do to ever deserve this. He nodded sleepily and closed his eyes, getting some much needed rest.
Hitoshi woke up as he was gently shaken, he looked up and lazily blinked. Izuku just chuckled good naturedly before explaining. “Sorry for waking you up, but it’s lunch time. I figured you’d be hungry after sleeping for so long.” Izuku said gently, mindful to keep quiet even while the rest of the class loudly left the room. Hitoshi sighed and went to respond, before realizing that he could only meow. Instead he opted to nod. Now that he thinks about it, he is quite hungry. Wait, can he even eat human food right now? He shrugged the thought off, but startled when Izuku suddenly picked him up, cradling the cat to his chest. Hitoshi sat shocked for a moment, but he slowly leaned his head against the warmth and listened to the green haired boy's heartbeat.
He sighed comfortably, and let himself happily lean into his friend's chest as they made their way to the cafeteria. The hallway was relatively peaceful, quiet despite Izuku talking to his friends. The cafeteria however was entirely different. It was unpleasantly loud, and as they walked in Hitoshi jerked upright, but tried not to squirm. Izuku looked down, concerned at the sudden restlessness of Hitoshi, and he used the hand not supporting his friend to gently pet his head. Hitoshi wondered if animals were even allowed in here, maybe he was the exception.
Izuku made his way up to Lunch Rush, taking two trays and precariously balancing them on one arm. How? Hitoshi didn’t know. Izuku quickly rushed to his table, ignoring the blatant confused staring from some of 1-B. He scooched into his usual spot at the end of the table, and he carefully shuffled Hitoshi down into a spot next to him. Hitoshi awkwardly sat where he was placed, unsure of what he was supposed to do as Iida slid in next to him. Izuku grabbed one of the trays that was balanced on his arms and set it in front of Hitoshi on the table, he then gently slid his own plate from his hand onto the table and fully sat on the booth.
Hitoshi had to put his front paws on the table to eat, but that was fine by him. He licked at the soup, swiftly getting annoyed that he had no other way to eat. He pushed through though, and soon enough he sat, full and tired. He made no attempt to listen to the conversations around the table, it’s not like he could join in, even if he wanted to. He watched as Izuku grabbed both trays and left the table, coming back soon after and sitting back down. He glanced at Hitoshi and smiled, patting his lap, inviting him to lay down till the end of lunch. Hitoshi happily complied. He crawled up onto his lap and laid down, leaning his head on the green haired boys naval. He could have sworn he heard a muffled squeal and a click that sounded too close to a camera for comfort, but Hitoshi diligently ignored it and closed his eyes, ready for another cat nap. Maybe hanging out with Izuku isn’t too bad.
But before Hitoshi could even dip his toes into unconsciousness, his eyes shot open when he heard a loud “poof!” noise. Purple smoke surrounded him and Izuku before it quickly disappeared. Hitoshi blinked twice, trying to gain his bearings, and as he looked down he realized he was now most definitely taller than the boy whose lap he was just laying in. His brows furrowed in confusion, but as he looked down and noticed he now had a human body, and was very much straddling his crush, it suddenly made sense. His jaw dropped in horror, and he went beat red, similar to the person he was on top of. He practically jumped off the other boy, hands covering his overheating face as he dropped to his knees.
“Oh my God. I am so fucking sorry.” He mumbled dumbly, mind racing a mile a minute as he tried to process what the fuck just happened. He didn’t even register it as the lunch room began to practically yell about what just occurred. He peaked up through his hands, watching in real time as Izuku's soul left his body. What did I ever do to deserve this? Hitoshi thought bitterly. He changed his mind, hanging out with Izuku was that bad.
