Work Text:
"Oh? So you do have an interest of 3D girls after all," Misumi teased as he picked up and fiddled with one of the many anime girl figures that lined the shelf that sat next to Takumi's desk.
"You know I don't care for 3D girls at all, those are just figures of my favorite 2D girls," Takumi corrected his friend. It didn't seem to take his friend long to make himself feel at home in the shipping container he called a house.
"Also be careful with them or you're going to break them!" Takumi quickly added as he snatched the figure out of his friend's hand and place it back onto his shelf in its respective spot. It was giving him anxiety just watching his friend flip around the figures of his wives with no care in the world.
Normally he'd never invite Misumi over to his place. He had been content spending most of his days living in his shopping container by himself playing ESO and watching the latest episodes of his favorite anime Blood Tune, but with rise of the New Gen murders and the constant fear that the demon girl could be out there watching him and waiting to kill him, he didn't exactly want nor could afford to be alone right now.
Due to his solitary lifestyle, Takumi wasn't really close to a lot of people. He had always had trouble speaking with new people. He would often stumble over the simplest of words and just generally lacked any confidence whatsoever when speaking to someone he didn't know. He always feared the worse that they would make fun of him if he slipped up speaking or if they did happen to get close to him and learned more about him and his otaku hobbies they'd call him creepy for it. So he did his best to avoid the DQNs called his classmates by making his existence stand out as little as possible. He had calculated the minimum amount of days he would have to attend school to graduate so he could avoid interacting them as much as possible. However, on the days he had no choice to go to school he made sure to do his best to blend into thin air so no one would notice he had ever been there to begin with.
And yet despite doing all that to make sure his tiny existence would be as unnoticeable as possible he somehow managed to make friends with one of the most popular guys in class, Daisuki Misumi.
At first he didn't like Misumi, whenever he showed up to school the other boy would always talk to him like they were close friends which would bring a lot of unwanted attention to his existence. It made sense why they stared at them, if Takumi was in their shoes and saw someone as high of a social rank as Misumi talking to someone low leveled like himself he'd be a little perplexed too and wonder why he'd be spending so much that time with that loser.
But after spending time with him and getting to know him better Takumi realized that Misumi was kind of a cool guy. Granted a majority of the time he only thought with the little guy in his pants and some might say he's the enemy of all women kind, but besides that he was actually pretty nice to him. He never made fun of his otaku hobbies and despite Takumi himself not being the easiest conversationalist Misumi would always make the effort to talk to him when he did come to school. Sure, Misumi could be cringey when he occasionally used anime terms he didn't fully understand in order to try to relate to him, but no 3D person would ever be perfect that was what the world of 2D was for after all.
But unfortunately since Takumi couldn't escape to the 2D world himself and seek Seira's protection from the awful demon girl coming after him, he had to think of a different solution to protect himself. After a long while of thinking about what to do in class, he eventually settled on asking Misumi to stay with him for the night since he felt like the only non-crazy person he knew that he could (sort of) count on.
Though he couldn't help but keep his distance from the other boy since he was still insisting that they had both been friends with Rimi Sakihata (aka the crazy Demon Girl) for a long time even though Takumi had never remembered her existence before he saw her drenched in blood as she stood in front of the Crucified murder case.
The acid from Takumi's stomach suddenly crawl up his throat, and he quickly went to covered his mouth in response. He could feel the convenience store food he ate for lunch threatening to violently vomit out of his mouth. Christ, even just remembering the scene still made him sometimes gag due to how gruesome it was.
Unaware to his friend's inner turmoil, Misumi cleared off a section of video games and manga that littered his friend’s couch so he could sit down.
"C'mon dude, you've never invited me to your place before there's got to be something fun we go do around here," the brunet leaned backed in his spot and said.
Honestly a part of Takumi was actually surprised Misumi had actually decided to come be with him. Since all he ever seemed to do was drown himself in different girls every day despite claiming he had a girlfriend already, he was sure he'd ditch helping him out and go spend time with a girl instead. But when he did invite him over the other boy had seem somewhat surprised and even happily eager (maybe a bit too eager from Takumi's perspective) when Takumi decided to ask him to hang out at his place after school.
"Just make yourself at home and do whatever. I've got to check a few things in my computer first," Takumi commented as he twisted in his desk's chair to face the computer screen and booted up ESO.
Neidhardt the strongest hero in all of Baselard, with the stats and rare items to back that fact up, popped up on Takumi's screen before him. Even with the New Gen murders going on he couldn't afford to slack off and lose his spot as one of the top players so it was important for him to stay diligent regarding all matters of ESO.
Taking advantage of his friend's distraction, Misumi decided to complete ignore any sense of his friend's privacy whatsoever as he began to dig throughout the piles of video games and manga littered throughout his room for something interesting to find.
"Let's see what kind of things your into," Misumi mumbled to himself as he searched.
"Oh-ho? You're into a lot of dicey stuff Taku, but I guess that makes sense even if you aren't interested in anything regarding the third dimension a guy still has needs after all," Misumi commented as he browsed through a manga that had fallen behind the couch's cushion.
"Though if you’re that into a bunch of girls in high school uniforms confessing their love for you, you could just come to school more often and try talking to some girls in real life," Misumi continued to say as he flipped over a page of a harem manga.
Takumi sighed at his friend's comment, Misumi would just never understand the appeal of 2D girls and how much better they were. They would never call you creepy or a weirdo (unless you were the type that was into being degraded) and no matter what horrible stuff you did they would be undeniable devoted to you no matter what. So really it didn't make sense to ever choose someone from the world of 3D after that since you knew they could never live up to those expectations.
Though there was only one girl in Takumi's life that he loved above all the rest and that was no other than his beloved Seria-tan. Just looking at the figure of her that sat on his desk was enough to help lift his spirits for a little bit and help calm him down when he was feeling stressed.
Curious, Misumi looked up from the manga and turned to his friend asked, "Actually have you been out with anyone before?"
A creepy otaku loser like him going out with someone? Unless you counted the various h-games he played or you counted the many delusions he'd envision of him and Seria being together which he had plenty of than no. Those kind of things only happened in his dreams.
Judging by his friend's silence, Misumi asked, "Well you've had to at least kissed someone in your life right? There had to be a girl who kissed you at least one even if it was just when you were little."
We weren't all born with naturally good looks and don't have girls constantly flocking to us like you do, Takumi internally replied. It was a miracle that despite the fact that they had such a major difference in social ranks they were still able to be friends.
"Dude you got to be kidding me you haven't?! That's not good what if a girl suddenly confesses she wants to be with you?" Misumi worriedly replied.
Like that would ever happen, Takumi thought as he typed away on his keyboard responding to one of team members as Neidhardt. This conversation was absolutely pointless it's not like anyone sane would be into an otaku freak like him.
Standing with his hands on his hips, Misumi took it upon himself to say, "I guess I have no choice, but to help you out. I'll have to give you a personal demonstration."
"What do you mean a personal demo-" Takumi started to say before he felt Misumi suddenly spin him around in his desk chair to face him.
Dramatically leaning over Takumi as he sat in the desk chair, Misumi cupped the bottom of Takumi's chin and boldly told him "I'll show you what it means to be a man," before he lifted the other teen's chin up and kissed him.
Huh?! Was the only thing Takumi thought as he felt his face heat up and his eyes fly open. When he said he wasn't interested in 3D girls that didn't mean he was interested in 3D guys! Though it's not like he could lie and say Misumi was unattractive so he wasn't the worst guy to be kiss by.
Wait that isn't helping my case at all! Takumi thought as he closed his eyes and tried to shake the thought out of his head. Misumi was a natural born skirt chaser through and through, he went through girls like it was his day job. There was no way he'd be interested in a guy in a first place.
Though if he was interested in guys it'd make sense why he'd be so eager to come over to my place, Takumi thought to himself. That mischievous grin and overjoyed look in his friend's eyes when he invited him over couldn't have been because he was attracted to him right?
Nope! Nope! Nope! He did his best to deny the thought out of his head. Even by some happenstance that Misumi was interested in guys there is no way he would he fall for a guy as low of a social rank as him. It'd be more likely he'd fall some attractive DQN guy instead of him. Yeah if anything he probably was only his friend because he pitied him and that's why he came over.
Yeah, that just had to be right! There is no way in hell he could be kissing him right now! The only reason his heart could be pounding this fast right now was because he had just thought about the Crucified murder. Yes, that just had to be it! His heart was only racing because he was thinking about the murder he saw; it couldn't be racing for any other reason. It wasn't at all that the kiss could've excited him for some strange unknown reason, that would just be completely absurd after all!
Takumi kept his eyes tightly shut, he wanted to run away and avoid the reality of the situation. He knew that if he opened his eyes now he would have no choice, but to face Misumi after this and he didn't want to do that. He wanted to shut off his mind from the outside world and pretend it wasn't happening, but the sensation of being kissed by him was too much to ignore. He could tell why girl's liked him, Misumi was a good kisser after all (thought it's not like he had much other personal experience to compare it too). Still Takumi could understand why girls would definitely want to come for more after the first one, he was irresistible.
Eventually he felt Misumi's lips part from his own, and there was a long silence that followed after it. With his eyes still shut it made him anxious to think about what Misumi could've been doing or thinking at the moment. Was he thinking that he was such a bad kisser and there was no hope left for him? Did he remember what a skirt chaser he usually was and what he had just done had completely gone against that? Was he going to go home and leave him all alone while the demon girl had the perfect chance to strike? Every scenario Takumi thought of only made him feel worse, so he had no choice but to slowly began to creep his eyes open. He had to know what was going on with the other boy after that, it would drive him crazy otherwise.
As he opened his eyes, he saw Misumi sitting back on his messy couch reading one of the manga lying around the place like nothing had ever happened.
Oh... It had just been a delusion, Takumi internally repeated to himself before he let out a sigh of relief. Of course it had been, he was right something like that would never happen in real life. That kind of cheesy scene would only have happened in a bad end of one of the many h-games he would stay up all night playing. He knew he should be happy that none of that was real, but for some strange unknown reason a part of him couldn't help feel disappointed.
"I'd let this girl stab me with her knife," Misumi commented as he picked up and looked at the box art of one of Takumi's unplayed video games, "I think I heard one of my other friends say that this kind of a girl is a yandere right?" Misumi looked over to his friend and asked.
Takumi cringed a little when he heard Misumi say the word "yandere" it always felt wrong hearing non otaku people use slang completely foreign to them.
"Y-yeah, she's from a new game that I bought and haven't gone around to playing yet," Takumi turned around to him and replied internally cursing at himself for stuttering. There was no reason for him to suddenly get flustered around him, what had just happened had been a delusion, it hadn't been real. It was best just for him forget about it and focus on the topic at hand.
The game Misumi had been holding was one everyone had been raving about it online, it was apparently a very dark game about a bunch of yandere girls fighting over a single guy and as typical yanderes did they killed anyone who tried to get in their way. With all the blood and death, he'd had the unfortunate luck of encountering in real life recently Takumi was pretty burnt out of all the gore so he hadn't gotten around to playing it. But of course for a guy like Misumi who thought about nothing but chasing after girls, the possibility of a cute girl being a murder didn't intimidate him in the slightest. Hell, when the New Gen cases first started he had already been jumping for joy to trying to date the New Gen murder when he heard the rumor a hot girl had been behind all the crimes.
Maybe I can use his flirtatious nature to distract the Demon girl if she tries to come after me, Takumi thought to himself. Or if things come down to it maybe I can just offer him up as a sacrifice instead of me.
Breaking him out of his thoughts, Misumi suddenly asked "So what kind of girl is your type?"
Takumi raised an eyebrow at his friend. He knew his stance on 3D girls already.
"2D wise obviously," Misumi clarified. "If you had to describe her what would she look like?"
My ideal type... Takumi closed his eyes to think about it. It was Seria no doubt. He loved everything about her, from the cute battle outfit she fought in, to her bubbling personality, and how she would always be undeniably devoted to him (in his delusions) that no 3D person could ever hope to dream of replicating. There was truly no contest in deciding who his favorite girl was.
Looking at the Seria figure that rested on his friend’s desk, Misumi pointed out, "You know don't you think Seria looks an awful like Rimi with the pink hair and everything?"
"Hey I got a good idea! Why don't you just ask Rimi out and get her to cosplay as it? Wouldn't that combine the best of the 3D and 2D worlds?" Misumi teased.
Takumi shot his friend a death glare, Don't sully an angel like Seira by making that Demon girl wear her outfit! He internally snapped back at his friend. Any chance of the Seria cosplay making him excited had been quickly drowned away by the fact he had imagine Rimi wearing it while she was dripping in blood as she committed the crucified murder.
"I'm actually really into cosplay myself," Misumi confessed, "Nurses, police officers, teachers, anything you name and I'd be all down for it."
"Y-you like to dress up in cosplay?!" He had never pictured as Misumi as that kind of guy. The idea of him of all people doing cosplay made Takumi's already delusional mind run wild. Imagining him dressed up like a nurse doing a hands on full "physical examination” on him, or him dressed like a police officer locking him up in handcuffs because he had been a bad boy, or him sitting on top of the teacher's desk saying he is going to personally punish him for being an irresponsible student. All the scenarios made his heart pump faster, whether it was a good or bad way he wasn't sure yet.
"No! No! I like to see others in cosplay!" He quickly corrected, "Though if the chick was hot enough I wouldn't mind being down for a little role play."
"Like have you seen the new nurse at the hospital with the red glasses? I'd let her do all kinds of twisted things to me if I was her patient," he continued to say.
So you’re the type that's into nurses? Takumi thought as he heard his friend speak, it made sense it was a standard fantasy trope you'd see in all the time in VN games so it wouldn't be surprising if he liked it too. Though to be honest Misumi was probably just the type of guy to go after any girl he could get his hands on so maybe preferences like that didn't matter much when it came to him.
"I mean it's natural for everyone to have some kind of outfit or thing a person wears that excites you. Even you have to have at least one as well, so what kind of thing excites you when a person wears it?" Misumi leaned in and ask.
Now there were a lot of things Takumi could've said in response to that question. He could've mentioned how he found girls who wore glasses in their swimsuits hot or he could've talked at length about how competition swimsuits were the superior swimsuit for a girl to wear in comparison to the school blue ones that had their name written them or to just a simple white swimsuit. Hell, he could even have gone for hours about how everything Seria wore made him excited. But out of all the possibilities for some godforsaken reason his mouth decided to say "I think the style of earring you wear is a-attractive."
With widened eyes, a loud confused, "Huh?!" left Misumi's mouth when he first heard his friend say that. He had never pictured Taku as the sort of guy who could say suddenly boldly proclaim things like that with how nervous he got around everyone all the time.
"W-wait! That's not... that's not what I meant to say!" Takumi both frantically and desperately tried to get the words out and explain. He doesn't know why he just said that, all that he knew was the fact that he stumbled on the world attractive when he said it didn't help his case.
"Don't tell me, Taku are you into guys?" Misumi surprisedly asked. He thought that could be the reason why he would get nervous and stutter around him all the time, despite the two of them being close. Wait the reason Takumi invited me over couldn't have been because he wanted too...?
Interrupting his friend’s thoughts, Takumi loudly proclaimed "No, I'm fully devoted to Seria-tan and the world of 2D girls!"
At first he wasn't sure if he was just saying that to convince Misumi or he was doing it more so to convince himself. It was most likely a bit of both.
"Though it's not that your unattractive anyone can see that."
Shit! Takumi had meant to keep that part in his head, but it seemed like he the unfortunate luck of mumbling it aloud instead. Maybe it would be better if the Demon girl came and killed him now, that would probably be preferable to whatever extremely awkward situation he was in now.
"Oh?! Oh? Oh!" The tone of his "Oh" kept changing as time went on and it seemed like it took a lot for Misumi, the well-known shirt chaser, to understand what it meant.
After contemplating it for a bit, Misumi put a hand on his hip as he stood up from the couch and announced "So it's me your heart really wants? Well that's understandable, then I'll just have to give in."
Give in? Takumi felt a pit in stomach begun to form. He couldn't help but have a bad feeling of where this was about to go.
Waltzing over to his friend who still sat at his desk, without an ounce of nervousness shown on his face Misumi confirmed Takumi's bad feelings when he pulled him up from his chair and embraced him.
What kind of quick change act is this?! It's as if someone flicked a switch and Misumi had done a complete 180 in his personality. There's no way he would boldly accept this situation so quickly. This just had to be a part of another one of his delusions.
Though whether this was real or not, didn't change the fact this situation was totally unfair for him!
It's not like he wasn't used to Misumi touching him before. Misumi had occasionally grabbed his arm or hand before when dragging him places he extremely reluctantly went to, but this situation was totally different. His face was buried into Misumi's shoulder practically enveloping his nose in the other boy's fresh scent. Meanwhile Misumi had his arms wrapped around Takumi so tight that there no space between each of their bodies. The two of them were so close that Takumi couldn't concentrate on anything, but Misumi at the moment.
As embarrassing as it would to be to admit, he felt safe being held in Misumi's arms like this. He felt protect being close to the other boy like this. Despite all the New Gen murders happening and the fact that the Demon Girl was still out there after him, just for this one moment in Misumi's arms did he feel everything was going to be alright. If he wasn't careful, he might get so swept up in Misumi's calming presence that he might let him do whatever he wanted with him in the four walls of this shipping container.
"Hey don't cheat on me with another person in your thoughts!" Seria suddenly appeared and shouted as she possessively grabbed Takumi's arm.
She was supposed to be his ideal 2D girl so she didn't like the idea of Takumi thinking about another guy instead of her, especially one from the land of the third dimension no less.
"But wouldn't you want to be with someone real instead? I can do all sorts of thing Seria can't," Misumi suggestively said as he turned Takumi's head to look back at him.
"Don't fall into the temptation of 3D! Stay with me Taku!" Seira begged as she pulled him closer to her to protect him. She had been his number one wife all this time, it wasn't fair for him to cheat off of her and be with Misumi.
"No stay with me Taku, I'm your best friend after all," Misumi argued as he pulled Takumi away from Seria.
What kind of h-game situation is this? Two people fighting over him like this would never happen IRL, but he couldn't help but find this whole situation exciting. He'd never imagined even one person would like him this much let alone two people who desired him so much that they'd be willing to fight for him.
"Actually you know what, why should you have to choose? Why don't you just choose both of us so you can have the best of both worlds and we all can have fun together Taku?" Misumi suggested.
"Well if that makes Takumi happy then I'll do anything for him. Let's both work together do our best to pleasure him to the full amount!" Seria announced as she shot up her fist in celebration at the plan.
W-work together to p-pleasure me to the full amount?! Just what kind of sick 2v1 stuff was this?! Just the thought of Seria and Misumi both having him at once was enough to nearly making his heart beat right out of his chest. If it actually happened, there was no doubt in his mind that he would straight up die from ecstasy. And if his death was so bizarre they may even end up reporting him as the next New Gen murder victim.
But right before the delusion got to the good part, he eventually snapped out of it once more and Misumi stood their looking at him shocked once more. It seemed like he was still reeling from the fact that Takumi had indirectly called him attractive.
Maybe this is my chance while he's distracted, Takumi knew he had to get out of here. If he stayed here he would just keep having weirder delusions about his friend and he would never get anything done. He just had to come up with an excuse to leave.
"You know what I just realized I have to go to the convenience store to pick something up!" Takumi hurriedly explained as he hopped out of his chair and darted out the shipping container. He had to get out of here fast. He needed to get away to have some time to think about what on earth he was going do when he saw Misumi next.
Maybe it would be easiest if he just avoids me, Takumi thought to himself as he swiftly exited the shipping container. That would be the best way to avoid confrontation after all. All Misumi had to do was avoid associating with a creepy otaku freak like him in school and how hard could that be? 99% of the student population did that already, so why not add Misumi and make it so 100% of the student population avoided his existence?
After he took a few steps outside the door, Takumi felt another person's hand suddenly grab his wrist and stop him in his tracks. It was obvious who's hand it was, Misumi and him were the only two people up on the roof after all.
"Hey Taku! Get back here!" The other boy exclaimed as he twisted the other boy around to look at him.
But somehow in the midst of being twisted around, Takumi's back had been pinned to front doors of the shipping container and Misumi had ended up standing in front of him blocking any chance of escape.
If his life was a h-game this would be the scene where the protagonist (Misumi in this case) would have kabedoned the heroine (Takumi) into the wall so they couldn't escape which would in turn cause them to be extremely flustered. If Takumi had to imagine it the scene would probably go down a little something like this:
"We can't do something like this here! We're out in public! What if someone sees us?!" Takumi cried out doing his best to mimic a classic heroine's voice as he said it.
And then as the cool classic VN protagonist Misumi would reassure him and say "We're all alone on the roof together, no one is around to see us. Even if someone down below does happen to sees us they won't be able to tell who we are, because we are so far away so there is nothing to worry about."
"Besides that just means we can do whatever we want up here without consequences," there was a dangerous glint in Misumi's eyes as he said that. Takumi didn't know whether he was scared or excited by that, it was probably a mix a both.
At this point of time, the protagonist of these type of games would take advantage of the situation and do all the sort of weird and messed up things to the heroine he wanted. But instead of that all Misumi ended up doing was kiss him instead.
Huh? Wait kiss him? Was this really happening or just another delusion he conjured up? It felt extremely real with how the other teen's face was pressed up against him, but his delusions before about this kind of situation felt real as well. So was he really here with Misumi on the roof kissing him or were the two of them still back in the shipping container? Or had he escaped the situation entirely and gotten to the convenience store and he was dreaming up this scenario once more? Where did reality begin and the delusions end?
"Why did you...?" Was all Takumi could mumble out when the other boy pulled away. He knew Misumi could be impulsive, but why had he done that with him?
"I... I don't know," it's was the first time he's ever seen Misumi flustered like that. He was usually pretty bold and suave with the people he was interested in but now well he didn't look like that at all.
"Maybe it was because of the way you looked at me..." the brunet admitted.
The way the other boy both suddenly and boldly admitted he found him attractive and the flustered look on his face he made when he tried to back track just did something inside of him. It made his heart race in a way he was only used to girls doing so for Takumi to make it happen was unexpected.
"You've always kind of had that personality that made me want to protect you but I never thought..."
He never would've imagined in his wildest dreams that he'd go this far with Takumi of all people. Yeah, maybe the other boy's severe introverted tendencies made him want to look out for him in a way he wouldn't normally do for other guys but still... Their relationship had only started because Misumi thought if he was nice to him so he could impress girls, but somehow along the way it seemed like he really did end up caring about him and really did want to protect him at some point.
"You just did it because you were caught up in the moment right? You're probably just used to girls acting the same way I did and just went for it like you always do, so we don't have to talk about it. If anything it's probably best, we just pretend it never happened and forget all about it!" Takumi started to ramble on.
He never liked to speak much, but he really couldn't think of much else to do in this situation. As much as he wanted to stand there in silence and not screw up this situation more than he already had, he had a feeling that Misumi wouldn't move away from him until he said something.
"But I can't forget it," Misumi replied after he squeezed Takumi's wrist. It really didn't seem like he wanted him to leave.
"You know it wasn't half bad, at least it felt a lot nicer than I thought it be to kiss a dude," Misumi admitted with a flushed look on his face.
"Y-yeah you were pretty good at it," Takumi nervously replied as his eyes averted the other teen's face. He didn't have the confidence to look at the other boy's face right now.
"Hey Taku, I think we should do it again," Misumi suddenly announced.
"Eh? Eh? Ehhh?!" What was Misumi saying? Was he actually into him? Was it possible that a bishounen guy like him really was going confess to an otaku freak like himself?
"I mean if you ever want to go out with someone from the third dimension, you're going need more practice at it you want to get better at it," Misumi explained.
Of course he just meant it that way! Takumi internally yelled at himself. His thoughts really had a bad way of always getting ahead of himself and misinterpreting everything around him. Still a part of him couldn't help but still be hopeful and think that he was just saying this as an excuse to kiss him again.
"So what are you offering to be my personal teacher or something?" Takumi asked.
The brunet couldn't help but widened his eyes at the prospect of being "Takumi's own personal teacher." And Takumi couldn't blame him for acting that way either, it was obvious both their minds were running wild with the fantasy.
"If so that's fine, because I think... I think it's okay to do this sort of thing with you," he had repeated a phrase he heard in visual novel before. It was something they said when you would do something you normally wouldn't do with someone you trusted a lot and Misumi was one of the people he trusted the most.
The brunet's heart skipped a beat at his friend's reaction, and he couldn't hide the surge of excitement that ran though him.
A new mischievous smirk adorned Misumi's face, as he grabbed Takumi's hand and teased "Well then follow me and I'll thoroughly educate you in all the matters of 3D romance."
