Chapter Text

"Well look at you with your fancy old hat." A voice of a Hylian woman said to another Hylian.
"Are you sure you want to be wearing that thing? I know we're fond of it but truth be told, gramps never washed it." Another voice piped up from behind a old ruined stone wall. "Or at least, we never seen him wash it. Something about washing out the memories of the 'old days'?"
The Hylian who was being talked to just straighten the cap on his head. He liked it as is. No amount of patching, or cleaning could get him to change it. He smiled while picking up his backpack to put it on.
"Well, can't make you change your mind. If you ever want to get it changed, we can just come back to Hateno another day. Callie! Are you done doing what you're doing back there?" The Hylian yelled out for her cousin that was till behind the wall.
"Yep!" The dark haired Hylian woman came around the wall with a smile and a bow holding a long ponytail on her head. "All extra weapons, shields and bows are hidden, Marie!"
"Not just buried in a shallow hole this time?"
"Oh come on even if I hide everything in holes, monsters would be too dumb to notice until a sword cut their foot off."
"I just want to make sure before we go. We're not coming back anytime soon so captain doesn't want any of our extra weapons to go missing."
"Geez he just got promoted two days ago and already barking orders huh, Cap'?" Callie came over to the other two.
"If it was up to me, I would have make you put them in gramp's house for safe keeping." Marie said while picking up her pack and other to hand to her cousin. "But since you did all the work, I did pack you some snacks in your bag. Don't forget your claymore this time."
"Thank you!" Callie took the pack and put it on and picked her soldier's claymore. "So, since we're leaving for a bit. Where are we going?"
"You didn't listen to a thing we said yesterday did you?" Maire gave Callie a look after picking up her phrenic bow and quiver of arrows.
"I may have fallen asleep at the meeting sooo.."
The white haired Hylian sighed. "We looking to expand our platoon. With Gramps retired, we can't just relay on just the three of us to help keep Hyrule safe. Few months ago, Captain did go out to see about it and scouted out two or three new recruits. One said yes once we're ready to pick her up from Lurelin. The others.. he's not sure we can find right away." Marie turned to face the road with the Captain. " So we can't waste time going to the desert to find a Hylian with a pet cucco and a Rito who can fly miles above us."
"All the way to Lurelin? Oh crap my legs are gonna kill me by the time we get there.." Callie groaned but followed the others down the road.
"You'll be fine with the snacks you have for now. We'll be taking a break tomorrow morning anyways." Marie said and the Captain nodded in agreement but Callie did not like the sound of walking this much at once.
"You're not going to die. Besides, can't you smell the air? It's going to be raining for most of the trip but we are going to visit kakariko first."
"Hmmmm... I guess I can handle the first couple of miles without complaining for a little bit."
"Good."
With the new captain of the New SquidBeak Platoon leading the way, the group started their journey to pick up the new recruit without knowing what will happen once they do find the Hylian in Lurelin.
"Hey Cap'?" Callie did a quick jog to be by the captain as he raised an eyebrow and faced her. "Can we change the name of the platoon now that you're in charge?"
"No." He said bluntly and turned his head back to the road.
Callie let out another groan and Marie didn't try to hide the laugh she let out.
