Work Text:
Maybe Hanzo hated it, being separated from Cole was a terrifying thought, one he never shared out of fear.
The fact of finally having a romantic relationship with the cowboy thrilled him, there was a feeling inside Hanzo that he couldn't explain, the fact of being close to Cole made him feel light, in a field of flowers with a particular smell.
It was strange at first, he only cared about being alone, not involving or having personal relationships with the rest of the overwatch; he wanted to suffer alone at first, to deal with the guilt alone, he didn't deserve absolute forgiveness, he was a heartless monster were the sentences that kept repeating over and over in his head.
That is until the cowboy started to annoy him: he was what Hanzo thought, a cowboy with an unpleasant smell, ridiculous clothes and an extravagant accent. It all started with the fact that the place where Hanzo was moaning was the same place where Cassidy went to smoke and release tension.
No words were exchanged and there was an uncomfortable tension, even Hanzo thought about leaving without saying a word, but was stopped by a single sentence from Cassidy; the conversation was brief and led to an interesting outcome, with Hanzo in a bad mood and Cassidy intrigued. It was a week before they met again in the same place, but this time the conversation was longer, but curt, this time there were apologies from both of them and after that there was only casual conversation, but Hanzo assumed it would just be a conversation and that was it, repeating to himself again that he didn't need to relate to anyone.
"I didn't need anyone."
Days, weeks and months went by; it seemed that the balcony on the rooftop was his secret hideout, by now Hanzo accepted the cowboy's company and without realising it, he began to open up to the man, their conversations from sharp, tense and cold became warm, pleasant and affectionate; with time that company could be called friendship, but Cassidy preferred to call it camaraderie, while Hanzo didn't care, he had forgotten that he didn't want to relate to anyone, he simply didn't care about that silly rule imposed on him.
Everything that had happened during that time had gone from bad to incredible, Hanzo's relationship with his brother had improved, all because of a conversation with Cassidy, shouting at him that "he deserved forgiveness regardless of his sins, since they all had their own, nobody is innocent" after that discussion Hanzo finally made the decision to have a very long talk with Genji, the result was a lot of crying on Hanzo's part and the final apology from Genji letting him know that the one who should forgive himself is the one who should forgive himself.
Then there was his relationship with Kiriko, they hadn't spoken in a long time, but it was clear that Kiriko wanted to return to those times of happiness and calm; everything has to happen in its own time, we all deserve someone's closeness.
Cassidy was starting to get irritated by Hanzo's attitude so he made the decision to confront him, so he waited patiently on that balcony waiting for the archer; if he had to sum up the cowboy's history with that particular archer in one word it would be surprising; maybe at first they didn't have the best start, but as time went by things were changing and Cole couldn't be more grateful that now he could even admit that he was in love with Hanzo When did it happen? He didn't know exactly, but what he did know was that he didn't want to be separated from Hanzo at all in this world.
When Hanzo arrived Cassidy was able to catch him off guard and in one swift move he planted a strong, but unintentional, chaste kiss on Hanzo's lips; as expected Hanzo was taken by surprise by the cowboy's action and in an instant he reciprocated, even though they had to separate due to lack of air.
The minutes passed and they had to talk, more Hanzo, he had to tell his fears and insecurities that he had, Cole only listened to him and hugged him showing him that he would give him all his support, his affection, his love and that was how the two started to be lovers.
At first they preferred to keep it private, no one had to know, but it wasn't long before they were getting constant awkward questions from the younger agents, more from Lena and Kiriko; being if they needed time alone and stuff; Angela was not to be missed, as she was constantly asking them what kind of condoms and lubricant they were using, making them react embarrassed on many occasions (as they had never thought about being intimate yet) and lastly it was Winston asking them if they needed a shared room and if he could give them more missions together, leaving the pair dumbfounded.
Now it was the two of them who were fed up with the attitudes of their teammates, having a very long talk about whether they had to tell everyone about their relationship, Cole thought it was the right decision even though their relationship was not very discreet; then they both decided to gather the whole team in the living room on a day when the whole team had no field missions.
Once they were all together they went straight to the point, which made everyone in the place happy, this was more beneficial than usual, they finally had a shared room, they received sexual training to finally have their first intimacy and many missions were done together or at least most of them.
This week was not the case, Cole was in France with Genji investigating drug trafficking, even though Genji was there to take care of that sexy ass, he couldn't help but be worried, for very few times this happened all Hanzo could think about was being by Cole's side, hugging him and taking care of his skin, yes, Hanzo never imagined that he could really be in love and here we are.
But fortunately the mission was a success and they would be back very soon, which made Hanzo anxious and impatient, it was stupid, he was trained to be able to face this kind of situations and many more, but most probably love made him act differently, a thought that made the archer happy, he never felt freer than ever.
When he least noticed, thick, rough hands with a particular scent positively flapped at the archer, turning around and receiving a tight hug from the cowboy; he would definitely complain to Winston about this, but for now he wanted to feel the familiar warmth of Cole, his cowboy was home at last.
