“Oh, shut up.” The green gem mumbled in response to the show. Peridot and Lapis were positioned next to each other as they stared with wrapped attention at the TV, which displayed another episode of Camp Pining Hearts.
“He is so stupid.” Lapis joined in on the feedback to the scene they just watched.
Peridot seemed to have her own unrelated thoughts now going on inside her head, as she turned to the blue gem and failed to hold back a wide grin. She pulled Lapis into a tight hug, earning a small gasp from the taller of the two in response. “Peridot..?”
“Hmm, Lazuli?”
Lapis didn’t respond as she turned her head back to the TV, Peridot following. The blue gem began to warm up to the hug, her tensed muscles relaxing as they both brought most of their attention to the show.
Though she would never say it out loud, Peridot felt a sense of relief and even a little pride when Lapis allowed herself to be held by her. Peridot loved it when Lapis trusted her. Even if it was with something as innocent and simple as a hug.
As the episode ended, they both turned to each other with matching looks, both of them sharing the same thoughts and opinions on the episode; that it was ridiculous.
Peridot gawked at her with an almost mischievous grin, managing to stop herself from cracking up as she continued to stare.
Lapis couldn’t help but smile back.
The green gem continued to grin and stare at Lapis, before bursting out laughing. “What’s so funny?” The taller one asked, a bit annoyed. “Y-YOUR- hAHHH, YOUR HAIR!!” Peridot responded, barely able to breathe at this point. Lapis let out a small growl as she got out of Peridot’s grasp, reaching for the nearby hand mirror to take a look at what was so funny about her hair and– the left side of her hair was sticking all over, which she most likely managed to do when she was being squeezed by Peridot.
She dropped the mirror onto the floor and looked back over to her friend before jumping on top of her and trapping her in a collection of tickles and soft play-fighting. Peridot’s laughter grew and grew, the same situation happening to Lapis. “LAPIS- HeHAAHA– I CAN’T- HAHA!” They went on like this for a few minutes until they were too exhausted.
They both lay beside each other on the floor, panting heavily. Lapis let out a small giggle as she glanced over at the green gem, who’s hair was now almost as messy as her own. She spread her arm out on top of Peridot, pulling her in close. Peridot gasped slightly before quickly relaxing into it, wrapping her own arms around Lapis too.
They rarely ever did anything like.. this. They were both scared to do something like this because what if the other didn’t like them? What if it upset them? But right now, they both felt too comfortable in each other’s arms to care. And that was when, with newfound confidence, Peridot moved in impossibly closer to Lapis and laid a kiss upon her cheek.
Lapis’s face flushed to a dark shade of blue and gasped, placing her hand on the same spot that had just gotten kissed. She grinned awkwardly before pressing her lips against Peridot’s cheek, in the same fashion she had gotten kissed. “I love you.” She whispered to the giddy gem in front of her. “Love you too.” Their lips connected perfectly together like puzzle pieces, trapping them in soft kisses, and they stayed like that for a moment.
However, before they could pull away to comment on the fact that they had just kissed each other on the lips, the two heard the familiar sound of Steven approaching them. He stopped a few steps away from them, watching the two as they pulled away from each other and smiled awkwardly, trying to pretend they hadn't just been making out.
"Hey, guys." The hybrid boy greeted them, taking a seat next to them as he gazed down at them. "Do you know where Amethyst went?"
“Uhm, no.” Lapis answered quietly.
“I guess I should go ask Pearl again..”
“Mhm. Don’t worry, I-I’m sure she’s around here somewhere though.” Lapis commented as Steven exited.
She draped her arms around Peridot again, both of them lying there in awkward silence.
“.. Can we kiss again?”
