I Will Save You

Summary:

Raine let out a scream as the Pretender stood from her place on her bench, letting out a high pitched tv-like scream that reminded her of her father’s powers then running after her as fast as her legs could go.
My eyes rounded, my head whipped around to where I thought I heard the scream of that bitch come from. “Oh shit.” My legs moved on their own, taking me from the floor to almost the other side of the factory.

Work Text:

Raine let out a scream as the Pretender stood from her place on her bench, letting out a high pitched tv-like scream that reminded her of her father’s powers then running after her as fast as her legs could go. Raine never claimed herself to be an expert on climbing rocks because obviously, today seemed to be an exception as Raine managed to successfully grab the rocks and climb down like she was a professional rock climber, the adrenaline in her veins making the trip go faster than it actually was going for her.
My eyes rounded, my head whipped around to where I thought I heard the scream of that bitch come from. “Oh shit.” My legs moved on their own, taking me from the floor to almost the other side of the factory. My brown hair flew behind me, my pitch black Wendigo t-shirt flapping with my movements. I panted harshly as I ran like hell toward anywhere in this falling apart building that would be safe, my heart burst, my chest roared but I refused to stop for a single second.
Ice cold fear and cold sweat ran down Raine’s brow as her vision was assaulted by the furious Pretender crawling down the rocky wall as fast as she could climb, her face nearly inches away from hers. Raine barely let loose a scream at this, her grip on the rock wall nearly releasing as she was caught off guard. The Pretender released a snarl into the brunette’s face, her silver hair hanging all around her face nearly hiding her expression from hell from view.
I dared to look behind me, my eyes widening when I saw that bitch hauling ass after me, her red hair that resembled that of blood flying behind her, her clothes ripped in some parts, her skin bruised from my fists. A knife was in her hand, raised into the air and a furious look in her eyes as she charged right at me. “Fuck!” My speed picked up to levels I never thought was possible, my legs were athletic thanks to my harsh training on my body so I had no problem in keeping ahead of that psycho.
Raine wished she was a better multitasker like her girlfriend, Six, as she struggled to keep her eye on both the Pretender and the world around her. She couldn’t recall if her brown eyes had any sort of problem, but Raine swore that her vision was going blurry or her eyes were going cross eyed. Not a good thing as she needed her sight in perfect condition in order to escape the threat advancing toward her and reunite with her girlfriend.
I had no idea where the flying fuck I was going as the place seemed to stretch on to the point it was neverending, how ironic considering one of my stories was about a neverending hallway. I felt like facepalming myself as I bolted like mad, taking a right turn passing down past several machinery. Seriously, why the ever loving fuck did my stories have to bite me in the ass? A sharp stinging in my left cheek snapped me out of my trance, my eyes darted around the factory.
A call from the right side of her followed by the sound of rocks falling caught her attention, Raine whipped her head around to face her girlfriend who was clinging onto a loose root for dear life. Six’s fangs were gritted together, her eyes flickered between normal and blood red though her raven hair covered her face. “Six!” Raine shouted at the raven haired girl making her flinch but also getting her attention, her head turning in her girlfriend’s direction. “Raine?” Six let out a whimper, tears streaming down her cheeks, her eyes returning to the scared eyes Raine knew so well.
“Mandy?” My head turned in the direction of my nickname, spotting her running on a metal runway above me. Her brown eyes looked down, locking onto mine, fear and concern for both the situation and me. I felt like shooting her a deadpan look then snort to tell her to stop worrying and that I was fine besides a little cut on my face however this was not a good time. I instead focused my attention forward, my legs kicking themselves into gear, my body taking an upwards turn. A machine that resembled the Pegasus Device opened in the middle.
“Hang on girl, I’m coming!” Raine let out a grunt as she let out a grunt as she let go of the last rocks to land on the ground with a thud. Her brown eyes whipped around till they settled on a dead log resting in front of her, she ran at it, cannoning into it with her body as hard as she could. The wood buckled under her force but didn’t break, Raine cursed at this. She backed up till her back hit the rock wall, took in several deep breaths into her lungs then charged forward.
I gasped in shock, my legs forcing my feet to skid to a halt. I yelped, my arms flailing around in order to stop myself from falling. I’m not an expert in the laws of physics or whatever, but when I thought I would fall forward, my body suddenly lurched in a different direction and I fell on my ass with a grunt. I panted heavily, trying to regain the breath that had left me. My heart thundered within my chest, in my ears, in my brain. It was so loud, I could barely hear any other noises that were happening around, especially her voice as she frantically called out to me.
Six let out a gasp, a root from the big root started to crack, her red eyes wide and filling with tears. The girl’s adrenaline kicked in and she scrambled to grab the more stable and thicker parts of the large root. However it seems like Six had bad luck as the roots ripped and tore under her weight when she tried to climb up, panicked whimpers exited her lips, the tears now streaking her cheeks. “Raine! Please hurry! It’s breaking apart!” Six’s panic was at a medium volume but Raine’s ears were able to make out her words as easily as she could row through a straight stream of water with one oar.
“Mandy!” My eyes rolled upwards to face her, she rushed down a metal staircase connected to the machine. She got on her knees, holding out her hand, a desperate panicked look in her brown eyes. My green eyes narrowed in shock and confusion as I stood to my feet, my fedora slightly falling over. I readjusted my hat back to its proper place as I stared at her in disbelief, like she was the dumbest fucking idiot to ever walk on this Earth. “Are you fucking insane?!” my voice and pitch climbed as I shouted at her, I struggled to mask my fear but it crept up on me anyway. “Please trust me, you have to jump! She’s gaining on you!”
Raine felt her shoulder throb hard as she barreled into the log, but she sure as hell wasn’t thinking of stopping, not when she could still hear cracks from both the log and the roots Six was hanging onto. However she herself wasn’t out of the woods yet as the Pretender’s furious sounds coming closer and closer filled her ears, but it didn’t scare her, it instead fueled the adrenaline in her veins and her strength. One last push. I took in a deep breath. Raine ran as fast as she could. I have no choice. Her yellow clad shoulder thrown out. I back up then charge forward. The log broke. I jumped.
The roots cracked, Six fell. Mindy’s eyes rounded, her hand reached out. Six grabbed the log, Raine jumped aboard. Flesh locked onto flesh, refusing to let go and never will let go forever for all time. The Pretender missed. The bitch fell into the machine, her arms looped me, holding me tight. Raine held Six close, one hand running through her raven hair. Six curled up against her chest as did I against Mindy, feeling safe at long last.
