It was the sound of rustling sheets and muted grumbles mixing with the pitter-patter of rain on the bedroom window that drew Izuku from his slumber. He yawned and stretched as he blinked his eyes open, squinting in the faint morning light. The first thing he saw was the poof of blonde spiky hair that belonged to his husband. The second thing was the second poof of blonde curls that belonged to his daughter. The third was the open bedroom door with a discarded Dynamight blanket. A sure sign that his husband had caught their little girl sneaking in and told her to just come to bed.
The thought drew his gaze down to his little family. Izuku couldn’t resist running his hand through his husband’s hair, loving the way his usually scowling face seemed to soften even more at the tender touch. His other hand came up to gently cup his daughter’s head. She was nestled firmly between himself and his husband, back pressed to his front while her head rested on Izuku’s torso. It was such a soft scene that Izuku wished he was able to photograph. He loved getting any photos of his little family cuddling together like this.
A soft groan drew his attention back to his husband. Carmine eyes blinked up at him through thick, full lashes. Izuku smiled, leaning down to press a tender kiss to his husband’s forehead. The resulting hum sent shivers down his spine. Despite spending his entire life in this man’s presence, the simplest things still managed to hook Izuku. He was absolutely whipped for his husband and he was proud to admit it.
“Good morning, Kacchan,” Izuku whispered. Katsuki just hummed again, wriggling against Izuku some more and adjusting their daughter to be more on top of the greenette. Izuku shifted slightly to make it easier for Katsuki to cuddle into his side. “When did little Kazumi join us?”
“Around five,” Katsuki rasped in his husky morning voice. He pressed his face into Izuku more, one arm coming up to wrap around their daughter and his husband. “Thunder,” As if cued by Katsuki’s drawl, a crack of thunder broke through the tranquility of the morning.
“Ah, yeah, they did say we were getting a nasty storm,” Izuku murmured. His arms locked around his little family again. Sometimes the little moments still felt so surreal. Like, had he really defeated All-For-One and Shigaraki? Had he really managed to get over his anxiety and confess to his hero partner? Not even just confess, but propose?! And then proceed to somehow have a child with said man? It all felt so surreal yet not and it always made Izuku incredibly emotional.
Especially as he watched his little girl grow up. Green eyes flicked to the walls of the bedroom, taking in the pictures and the little shadow box of Kazumi’s shoes Katsuki had made. Their bedroom was a special place where Katsuki always felt the need to put their most precious memories. There was one wall dedicated to their milestones through life, including careers. One dedicated to them as a couple, filled with smiles and scowls, their wedding, the proposal, everything. Then there was one more dedicated to their precious Kazumi. It was filled with so many pictures of her despite her only being five. The center-most picture was of the day they got to bring Kazumi home.
It seemed silly, hogging up a hospital room in the labor and delivery ward when neither of them had delivered the baby, but the fertility specialist said all parents deserved the experience of bringing their baby home. That, and the two new parents were under the watchful eye of professionals as they adjusted to their new roles. Katsuki had been a little pissed about it, but Izuku had figured out pretty quickly all he needed to do was place Kazumi in Katsuki’s arms and the anger vanished.
While Izuku would never tell Katsuki, the day both of their parents came to the hospital was forever ingrained into Izuku’s head. Katsuki was laying on the bed doing skin-to-skin with Kazumi, bundled up in a Deku blanket, just absolutely enamored with their princess. To see the infamous Dynamight Scowl (Patented by Eijirou) melt away due to the little infant made of them was just so intense that Izuku had no choice in his tears. His heart had been soaring, to then be hit with the absolute joy on their parents’ and All-Might’s faces when they saw the same scene was beautiful.
Movement on his chest and the quiet murmur of Katsuki once again pulled Izuku from his thoughts to focus on his family again. Kazumi was squirming against Katsuki’s grasp, her green eyes flashing in the dim morning glow of the storm. She wriggled around until she was able to kneel on Izuku’s abdomen, looking down at both of her fathers with a tired but pleased look.
“Good morning Daddy, Papa,” Kazumi’s small hands patted at Katsuki’s cheeks. Izuku melted at the tender, love-filled smile Katsuki gave Kazumi.
“Good morning Angel,” Katsuki hummed. Kazumi beamed, clapping her hands together a little in a typical little kid fashion. Izuku brought one hand up to support Kazumi’s back, paternal instincts coming forth out of fear she might fall with the way she wobbled atop him.
“Good morning, Princess,” Izuku chuckled. Kazumi let out a few giggles, slowly collapsing on his chest again to peer up at him. Katsuki snorted, snuffling back under the covers and into Izuku’s side.
“It’s too early,” Katsuki grumbled. Kazumi giggled again, rolling off Izuku onto Katsuki.
“Papa, it’s almost…” Kazumi squinted at the clock. Izuku held his breath, immediately noticing how Katsuki’s eyes sparkled. “It’s almost eight Papa! You never sleep so long!” Kazumi declared. Katsuki let out a proud laugh, sitting up to scoop Kazumi into his arms. Their princess squealed and squirmed against Katsuki’s grip, shrieking with laughter. Izuku let out a chuckle of his own, remaining laid down to watch his two most precious people rough house in excitement.
“Good job angel, I’m so proud of you!” Katsuki pressed a couple spontaneous kisses to Kazumi’s head, making the little girl giggle some more. “You read it all by yourself!”
“Is Daddy proud too?” Izuku smiled, green meeting matching green as he looked up at his daughter.
“Of course I am, Princess! That’s a big deal!” Kazumi squealed happily, clapping her hands together again. Izuku couldn’t resist laughing at his little girl’s excitement. Kazumi began to babble to Katsuki, hands moving in explanation of whatever it was that fascinated her. Izuku took a moment to just watch again.
Since Kazumi was old enough to express herself, Izuku caught himself pausing multiple times to just watch Katsuki and Kazumi interact. It was breathtaking to watch Katsuki transform from the brute, aggressive hero Dynamight to the soft, gentle Papa Kacchan, as Denki had taken to calling him. Katsuki could walk in the door in the most foul of moods, exhausted down to the bone, and immediately perk up when their little girl reached his line of sight. Kazumi just took all the stress off of Katsuki’s shoulders in a way not even Izuku could manage. It was beautiful to see and Izuku hoped it never stopped.
“Zuku, breakfast?” Izuku blinked out his thoughts, head turning towards Katsuki.
“Hmm? I’m sorry Kacchan,” Katsuki just rolled his eyes, shaking his head with a slight smile. The blonde had managed to escape the bed without Izuku noticing, now standing beside it with Kazumi on his hip.
“Breakfast, Angel requested pancakes,” Katsuki repeated. Izuku perked up and nodded, flying out of bed to pull on some pajama pants. Katsuki’s laughter floated down the hall as the blonde left the bedroom to start cooking. It only took Izuku a couple of minutes to use the bathroom and tug on the pajama bottoms before he made his way into the kitchen.
Izuku paused when he actually reached the kitchen, green eyes tenderly admiring the soft scene before him: Katsuki was at the counter, one hand holding up a spoon covered in pancake batter while the other held Kazumi on his hip. Kazumi was giggling at something Katsuki said between thanking him for letting her lick the spoon. Katsuki pressed a kiss to Kazumi's brow before gently bouncing her higher onto his hip. Izuku couldn't resist drawing his phone from his pocket to capture a photo.
People had reacted so harshly to the idea of Katsuki and him having a child. People were convinced Katsuki was too aggressive, too harsh, too mean, to be a good dad. It angered Izuku to hear their own friends muttering about it behind their backs, convinced Katsuki would blow up. He had wanted to scream and snarl at people how wrong they were. How none of them got to see that soft gentle side of Katsuki that loved the idea of a family. It was Katsuki though, that made it better. He told their friends and reporters alike that he'd be a great dad and all they had to do was watch.
And watch they did. Izuku's Deku Instagram was filled with people just pining for DynaDeku-Dad content. It had started with Izuku posting a picture from the hospital of Katsuki in the recliner, bare chested with their daughter resting over his scar. Katsuki's hands were cupping Kazumi's bottom to hold her and he was smiling at someone not in the photo. Since Izuku started posting tidbits of their daily lives, the whole public opinion on Katsuki being a Dad changed practically overnight.
"Daddy?" Izuku snapped out of his thoughts, green eyes locking on Katsuki and Kazumi. Kazumi was looking outright worried while Katsuki just had a brow raised.
"Sorry Princess, Daddy got lost in thought," Izuku smiled, walking over to wrap both his husband and daughter in a hug. Thank the gods for his last One-For-All induced growth spurt. He enjoyed being taller than Katsuki and big enough to hold his family in his arms. One tight squeeze and a squeal from Kazumi later had Izuku already feeling way better, the topic of public opinion long gone. Katsuki set Kazumi down with instructions to set the table, both fathers fondly watching their little girl scamper to the special cupboard full of plastic tableware. It had been Katsuki's idea to order some plastic plates and dishes when Kazumi had a tantrum over not being able to help in the kitchen. Sitting on Katsuki's hip as his sous chef wasn't enough, she wanted to actually help her parents.
"Oi Nerd," Izuku nuzzled into Katsuki's neck, humming. "Where are you runnin' off to?" That had Izuku’s head lifting, catching the flicker of concern in Katsuki's crimson eyes.
"I was just thinkin'," Izuku murmured, gently turning Katsuki's head to press a gentle kiss to his lips. "Bout you, bout us, bout our little princess,"
"What about us?" Katsuki huffed, jerking his head back to start flipping the pancakes. Izuku chuckled, arms wrapping around Katsuki's lithe waist to hold his husband. Katsuki leaned into the embrace subtly.
"How absolutely fucking lucky I am to have such an amazing hero partner, best friend, husband, and a fantastic daughter," Izuku punctuated each word with a kiss to Katsuki's cheek, determined to draw the breathy chuckle Katsuki tended to stifle. Sure enough, a couple more pecks with a few muttered words of praise had that musical sound escaping his husband and drawing hearts in Izuku's eyes.
"You're such a stupid nerd," Katsuki huffed, cheeks and ears tinted red. Izuku just laughed and pressed one more kiss to Katsuki's cheek before turning to grab their mugs. His was an All-Might one, Katsuki's was some mountain range souvenir, and Kazumi's was a small Red Riot mug. She loved anything themed around her Uncle Eiji. Izuku placed his mug in the coffee maker, the machine whirring to life with a quick button press. Katsuki's received some honey and one lemon wedge, waiting to be filled with the brewing tea. Kazumi also got her own special drink: Milk mixed with a spoonful of honey Katsuki warmed on the stove. A glance at the little pot had Izuku chuckling. This time, Katsuki had added a bit of chocolate. No doubt due to Kazumi's rude awakening from the storm that arrived earlier.
As if the storm had heard Izuku, a bright bolt of lightning whipped across the sky followed by the loud clap of thunder that shook the apartment slightly. Kazumi screeched in fright, bolting from the kitchen table right into Katsuki's legs with a heartbreaking cry of Papa!
Katsuki took the last pancake off the stove and turned the burner off, twisting to scoop Kazumi up. She locked her arms around his neck and hid her face under his chin, visibly trembling. Izuku set the mugs on the counter before coming to join the hug, sandwiching Kazumi between himself and Katsuki.
"It's okay, Angel," Katsuki was murmuring as they rocked slightly back and forth. Kazumi shook her head, little hands grasping at Katsuki's tank top. Izuku began to pepper Kazumi's head and Katsuki's face with kisses. Katsuki huffed and snarled, trying to push his overly affectionate nerd away but it was useless with Izuku's arms still wrapped around him. Katsuki twisted, pressing his back to Izuku's front and huffing as if he'd taken victory. Kazumi's head lifted from Katsuki's shoulder, eyeing her daddy curiously. Izuku gave her a smirk, crouching down and scooping both her and Katsuki up bridal style. Katsuki let out an indignant squawk at being lifted, squirming against his husband while holding Kazumi.
"Now now, I don't wanna drop my little loves," Izuku scolded in a sing-song voice.
"Deku. Put. Me. Down," Katsuki growled, face blooming bright red as Izuku began to rock them slightly. Kazumi had burst into happy giggles, nuzzling into Katsuki's neck. Izuku shook his head at Katsuki, smirking at how he'd managed to disable his husband. Only having one arm, Katsuki took to tugging Izuku's curls in an attempt to get the nerd to let him go.
"Papa?" Both parents paused their bickering to look at the little girl.
"Yes, angel?"
"I like when Daddy holds us," Kazumi's quiet confession squeezed both of her parents' hearts. Izuku chuckled wetly, leaning down to press a kiss to her head then another to Katsuki's pursed lips. The blonde was squeezing Kazumi with one arm, nuzzling her blonde curls with a soft, secret smile.
"We better eat before all of Papa's breakfast gets cold," Izuku murmured fondly. He gently set his husband in his seat, taking Kazumi from Katsuki to put her in her booster seat. Black Whip took care of grabbing their cups from the kitchen while Izuku poured syrup on the side for Kazumi and Katsuki before drizzling it all over his pancakes. With a quick mutter of itadakimasu, the family dug in.
Izuku couldn't help his fond smile at realizing Katsuki had managed to make two different batters. His pancakes were protein heavy, the distinct flavor of his vanilla protein shakes light on his tongue. Even when treating the family, Katsuki managed to stick to their diets. Kazumi's diet was the hardest adjustment. Katsuki had to shift from making the calorie heavy and protein heavy meals to something lighter and more balanced to fit their daughter's growing needs. She didn't need the specialty meals Katsuki cooked for himself and Izuku because she wasn't training everyday or fighting villains. The adjustment was a challenge Katsuki took by the horns and told to go fuck itself.
Breakfast was a quiet affair otherwise. Kazumi just hummed happily between bites of pancake and berries, feet kicking as she enjoyed her meal. Katsuki was watching her with a fond look, occasionally reaching over to wipe at her face with the warm cloth he kept at the table for sticky meals. Izuku finished his food quickly so he could start the dishes while Katsuki watched over Kazumi.
Once both blondes were done, Katsuki wiped Kazumi's face and hands one more time before setting her free to play in the living room. Izuku swung by to grab at their plates, kissing the top of Katsuki's head as he did so. Katsuki grunted, phone in hand as he opened his email. Izuku raised a brow but said nothing. If he had his work email open, Katsuki would throw a fit about work staying at work on their days off. If Izuku tried to tell Katsuki the same, he usually got either a middle finger or an explosion to the face, all depending on where Kazumi was.
"Hey babe, apparently there was a power outage at the office," Katsuki called from the table. Izuku, elbows deep in dishes, jerked his head to the side in an effort to glance over his shoulder.
"Do they need us for something? Denki is the one with the electric quirk, not me!" Izuku huffed while Katsuki let out a cruel laugh. It didn't matter how infamous Izuku was or how many videos circulated of his strength, people saw the lightning and assumed electricity.
"No, they are just informing us, ya know, as the owners of the agency," Katsuki smirked. Izuku scowled into the dishes, scrubbing off the sticky remains of berries and syrup from Kazumi's plate.
"Yeah yeah… still. That was fucking stupid," Katsuki snorted at the rare curse, remembering the incident with the intern very fondly. They fell into comfortable silence, Izuku continuing the dishes while Katsuki sipped his tea and responded to different emails pertaining to the power crisis. All was peaceful and quiet until Kazumi let out a shriek of pain.
Katsuki was out of his chair and holding their little girl before Izuku could even get the gloves off. Izuku scrambled into the living room, eyes widening at the sight of Kazumi sobbing with blood dripping down her chin. Black Whip extended to grab a cloth as he got to his knees next to his husband.
“Take a deep breath angel, it’s okay,” Katsuki was murmuring as he cupped Kazumi’s face. Izuku wiped away the blood, looking for any sign of injury. Not seeing any external injury but with blood continuing to drip, Izuku concluded she must’ve fallen and bit her lip.
“D-Daddy,” Kazumi hiccuped, holding up a hand. Izuku took her hand and squeezed it, continuing to wipe away the blood.
“Being such a strong girl,” He smiled gently. “Can you tell Daddy what happened?” Kazumi opened her mouth to answer when Katsuki gasped, one hand falling to Kazumi’s chin to pull her lip down.
“Oh baby! You lost a tooth!” Katsuki looked around the ground for a minute, spotting the tooth and gently grabbing it to cradle it in his palm. He held it up to Kazumi. “See angel? Just a tooth, you’re okay,”
“Wow Princess, a whole tooth!” Izuku smiled, keeping the cloth close as the bleeding seemed to stop. Kazumi sniffled, looking at the tooth apprehensively.
“But… I need my tooth,” She whimpered. Izuku chuckled, pulling Kazumi into his lap while wiping the last of the blood away.
“You do need teeth, Princess, but that is a baby tooth. See how Papa and I’s teeth are so big?” Izuku tugged at Katsuki’s pursed lips, flashing one of Katsuki’s canines. Kazumi nodded, brows furrowed as she tried to see where her dad was going with this. “When little heroes get big enough, their baby teeth fall out. It’s so you can grow your big hero teeth,” Izuku gestured to the tooth in Katsuki’s hand.
“I’ll get a big tooth?” Kazumi looked between her fathers with wide eyes. Izuku nodded.
“You will. It’s gunna hurt a bit, but I bet if we ask nicely, Papa will make some homemade ice cream for you as a treat,” Izuku turned his beaming smile onto his husband while Kazumi gave him the puppy eyes. Katsuki growled under his breath, glaring at Izuku for suggesting it. Just as Katsuki opened his mouth to complain, a bit of lightning in the distance drew his attention to the weather outside. He smirked.
“Oi, who’s goin’ to the store to get me ingredients?”
