Final Piece to the Puzzle

Summary:

Izuku and Katsuki had been waiting all year for this, hell, many years for this. It had taken so much time to get to this step. Lots of planning, discussing, and emotions to finally feel ready to take this step. Izuku was nervous but excited. He knew Katsuki was too. This was the final piece to their puzzle and they were ready to put it into place.

“Mister and Mister Midoriya,” The nurse reached in ever so gently, lifting the small All Might themed bundle. “Allow me to introduce your daughter,”

OR

DkBk finally got to have their little girl with the help of a quirk. This is a little fic about bringing her home, adjusting to parenthood, and introducing their daughter to their friends and family.

Chapter Text

Izuku lifted his head at the soft knock on the door. He had been resting his eyes for the past hour, listening to his husband’s soft breathing as the blonde napped. As they were warned, the quirk had left them exhausted like Recovery Girl’s, so they had been given some time to rest beforehand. Izuku slowly propped himself up on his elbow while calling out a quiet welcome. Katsuki stirred, red eyes squinting at the light before realization dawned and he sat up. Their hands blindly fumbled together in an attempt to soothe as the door opened.

The nurse murmured a quiet greeting, giving them both a smile. Izuku swallowed the lump in his throat and pressed a kiss to Katsuki’s hair. Katsuki made a soft sound, pressing closer to Izuku. The nurse gently pushed the bassinet over to them with a bright smile and soft eyes. She clicked the lock, reaching in to tickle their baby’s foot. The baby let out a muffled snuffle, making Izuku’s heart squeeze painfully. He heard Katsuki suck in a deep breath.

“Mister and Mister Midoriya,” The nurse reached in ever so gently, lifting the small All Might themed bundle. “Allow me to introduce your daughter,” Katsuki choked on a dry-sob, hand clenching tightly around Izuku’s fingers. Izuku bit his lip to keep his own tears at bay. “Who would like to hold her first?”

“Kacchan,” Izuku answered before his husband could. The greenette shuffled to be more behind Katsuki. “I want you to hold her first, love,” Izuku kissed Katsuki temple as the nurse cooed over Katsuki’s tears. Katsuki held out shaky hands.

“Here,” The nurse adjusted her grip on their daughter to free one hand, adjusting Katsuki’s arms. “There you are… Now let me just…” The nurse murmured and got ready to give their daughter when she gasped. “Oh! Why hello little one! Already awake to see your daddies, hmm? Are you gunna show them your pretty eyes?” Katsuki made a wheezing sound. The nurse smiled, bending over slightly as she finally lowered the baby into Katsuki’s arms. Katsuki immediately let out a raspy sob and Izuku felt his own tears spill over.

Their baby was absolutely beautiful. Izuku wasn't sure he had enough words to describe her. He lifted one hand, setting it atop the baby while the other helped cradle her head. Katsuki was smiling: That gorgeous smile that was normally reserved for Izuku in the privacy of their own home was now being shown to their precious little girl. Izuku couldn't stop his tears, nuzzling into the side of Katsuki's head to pepper kisses against the blonde's temple. Katsuki was also shedding some tears, red eyes wholly focused on their daughter. She was squirming a little, mouth moving in little baby sounds, but her eyes were still closed.

"Zuku," Katsuki whispered. "She's perfect," Izuku choked back a sob at how tender Katsuki sounded. He chose to tighten his grip on his husband and daughter before pressing a kiss to Katsuki's shoulder.

"She is, Kacchan," Izuku smiled. "She's our little princess," Katsuki let out a wet chuckle, turning his head and body slightly to hunker down into Izuku's chest some more. Izuku ran a finger along the baby's chin, mesmerized by her features. He hadn't understood what his mom or Auntie meant when they explained how they knew which features Izuku and Katsuki got respectively as babies until now. He knew he was looking at Katsuki's sharp features by the shape of her eyes. Her hair was pale, too pale to ever fade to the Midoriya green. It was definitely the Bakugou blonde. When her eyes opened, Katsuki let out the softest of whimpers, turning his head into Izuku's neck to hide his tears. Izuku tilted his head to rest against Katsuki, unable to take his eyes off their daughter.

Beautiful, vibrant green stared back at him. Katsuki adjusted his hold at the nurse's suggestion, raising the little one up closer to their faces. Izuku was spellbound as he watched her eyes trace over his and Katsuki's face. He was well aware she couldn't see much and was just following shadows and noise, but it didn't make the moment any less special. Katsuki was crying now, silent tears dripping onto their daughter's swaddle as he admired the baby.

"Do you have a name for her?" The nurse asked softly, holding the birth certificate. Katsuki let his full weight rest against Izuku while he bit his lip in thought. Izuku continued to stare at their daughter, letting Katsuki think. They'd agreed with their marriage to take on the Midoriya name, so Katsuki was now Midoriya Katsuki and their children (however many they chose to have) would be Midoriyas. For that reason, Izuku insisted Katsuki choose the name of their first born. A small pressure wrapped around his index finger, drawing a gasp from the greenette. His princess had just snagged his finger, drawing it up to her little gummy mouth. The nurse chuckled, reaching under the bassinet for some bottles. Katsuki opened his mouth to say something but the nurse waved him off kindly.

"Don't worry Mr. Midoriya, your husband gave us the formula you preferred while you were napping," Katsuki's mouth clicked shut, eyes dropping to the baby again as his brows furrowed in thought. Izuku wiggled his finger in his princess's grasp. She spooked slightly, little face scrunching up in fright. Izuku cooed softly in an attempt to soothe her, but it was futile. Tears were already pooling in her beautiful eyes and her cheeks were flushing pink.

"Shhh, don't cry Angel," Katsuki hummed softly. "Daddy didn't mean to startle you," Izuku's brain stuttered, heart swelling up to the point of possibly bursting. Tears welled in his eyes and forced him to press his face into the crook of Katsuki's shoulder. Somehow, hearing Katsuki refer to him as "Daddy", holding the little being that gave meaning to the word, was just too much. He had reached his emotional capacity and needed to let it out. The nurse let out a soft awe as she overheard.

"Here is the bottle," The nurse explained quietly, showing Katsuki and Izuku how to properly feed their daughter. "I will stay for the first feeding and burping. I got plenty of pictures for you, Mr. Midoriya," The nurse set Izuku's phone back down with a pat. He hadn’t even realized she had grabbed it but he was thankful all the same. "Did you think of a name for her?" Katsuki smiled beautifully, nuzzling Izuku's head.

"Kazumi," He stated firmly yet lovingly. "Midoriya Kazumi,"

"Beautiful name for a beautiful princess," Izuku murmured quietly, letting one finger brush along Kazumi's pudgy face. The nurse seconded Izuku's opinion, settling to the side to write out the name and fill out a bit of Kazumi's charts. Izuku couldn't look away from Kazumi as she drank. She was staring up at Katsuki, little fists twitching around slightly. Izuku giggled as he felt her little feet kick out in the swaddle.

"Someone likes Daddy's shoot style," Katsuki chuckled. Izuku whined as more tears welled in his eyes.

"Kacchan you're gunna make me cry again!" Izuku moaned helplessly. "Your Papa really wants to make me sob, doesn't he, Princess?" Katsuki let out a strangled noise, eyes popping wide open as he processed what Izuku said.

Eventually, once Kazumi finished her first feeding and successfully burped, the nurse took her leave. She had them start skin-to-skin right away, helping Katsuki remove the swaddle and position Kazumi on his chest. Izuku absolutely melted at the sight. Kazumi was resting right over the scar in the center of Katsuki's chest. Katsuki's large hands were cradling her body like a delicate crystal. He wore quirk suppressant bracelets to staunch the flow of his sweat, wanting to be able to hold his daughter without constantly scrubbing with his industrial strength cleaner (That did not stop the blonde from doing it of his own accord and forcing Izuku to do the same). Izuku couldn’t resist taking a few pictures.

It took a few hours before they were completely settled again. Izuku sent out multiple pictures to family and friends, trying to make sure everyone got that amazing photo of Kazumi resting on Katsuki’s chest. There was something so precious about the way Katsuki was just holding her tight. It was later into the evening, once they had Kazumi settled against Katsuki’s chest for a bit of skin-to-skin before bed, that Izuku managed to find the words.

“Thank you, Kacchan,” The blonde glanced up in confusion.

“Hah?” It was soft but also demanding.

“Thank you,” Izuku murmured again, pressing closer in behind his husband. “Thank you for helping to make our beautiful baby girl, for giving her such a meaningful name, for being my husband, my partner, my duo, my everything,” Katsuki made a wheezing sound, twisting to hide his face from Izuku. The greenette let it happen, nuzzling into Katsuki’s hair while stroking Kazumi’s back.

“Shitty nerd,” Katsuki grumbled after a few minutes, having composed himself enough to face their daughter at least. “Look what your Daddy does to me,” Izuku smiled as Katsuki nuzzled their sleeping baby. “Gives me the most precious of gifts then does his absolute best to make me cry over it. How unbelievably rude,”

“Mmhm,” Izuku hummed his agreement. “Of course, because how dare I shower the gorgeous love of my life with compliments and praise? It’s not like I’ve been doing it my whole life or anything,” Katsuki scuffed, rolling his eyes and snuggling into Izuku’s chest.

Silence reigned for a few moments before Katsuki took a deep, shuddering breath. “I don’t want to let her go,” The words were whispered so quietly Izuku needed a moment to actually process them. His arms wrapped around Katsuki a little more, mindful of the precious cargo between them.

“She’s gunna be right there,” Izuku nodded towards the bassinet next to the bed. “They won’t take her from our room, we will know if anyone comes in because of Danger Sense. Baby ,” Katsuki pressed closer, hiding his tears in Izuku’s chest.

“I just… She’s…”

“Kacchan,” Izuku nudged Katsuki with his chin, getting the blonde to look at him. “Breathe Kacchan. She’s okay, we are okay, she’s strong. Look at her,” Case in point, Kazumi squirmed and kicked her little legs out, the soft smack of her foot hitting Izuku’s abs making Katsuki stifle a snort. “See, she will be fine. Let’s get her settled into the bassinet and then we can get some sleep,”

Reluctantly, Katsuki stood and gently lowered Kazumi into the bassinet. He pressed a few kisses to her forehead, nuzzling her pudgy cheeks as he got her wrapped up for bed. “I love you, Angel,” Katsuki murmured, adjusting her swaddle one more time before backing away to sit on their bed. Izuku came next, smiling as Kazumi turned into his hand when he gently stroked her cheek.

“I love you Princess,” He gave her a quick kiss on the forehead. “Sleep well sweetheart, don’t wake Papa and I too early,” Izuku was holding out hope that Kazumi would sleep the maximum time between feeds but he wasn’t too sure. One could never be sure where Katsuki Bakugou was involved.

As if sensing his train of thought, Katsuki smacked him with a pillow. “C’mon, Shitty nerd,” The blonde grumbled, curling up on his side facing Kazumi. Izuku huffed and crawled in behind his husband.

“G’night, Kacchan,” Izuku whispered as Black Whip flicked the lights. "I love you,"

“Night, Zuku. Love you too,"
