Chapter 1: hablame de ti
Chapter Text
You were so beautiful from the moment I laid eyes on you.
“Howdy roomie!” exclaimed the blonde, smiling widely at her.
All I wanted to do was beg you to tell me everything there was to know about you.
“Wednesday, this is Enid Sinclair,” Weems said, introducing the two girls. Wednesday watched as the smile slowly morphed into concern on her new roommate's face.
“Are you feeling okay? You’re looking a little pale.”
I couldn't mutter a word to describe your perfection.
“Wednesday always looks half dead," Gomez said, queasily. He was still reeling from the monstrosity of Enid's colorful room. "Oh," Enid took the answer in stride and seemed to bounce back quickly, "Welcome to Ophelia Hall!”
I couldn't hold myself back any longer, it was like something took over me.
Wednesday stepped forward pulling Enid flush against her before dipping her and bringing her hand to brush off Enid’s hair. Everyone watched in shock as the blonde’s brain finally caught up and her face flushed a bright red.
"Do you believe in love at first sight?” Wednesday asked. A pair of gasps came from behind her, probably from her father and mother. “For I have fallen completely and utterly in love with you. Does someone own your heart? Because you have mine and I cannot live with the ache it has caused,” Wednesday murmured. She held her new roommate's gaze feeling a pull as she realized she was leaning in to kiss her. A rough shove of her shoulder made her snarl. “Wednesday Addams!” Weems admonished, putting herself between the two girls.
“Oh, Tish!” Gomez cried out, holding her hands in his.
“Gomez!” Tish exclaimed, a smile stretching on her features.
“The Addams curse has struck again!” Gomez proclaimed an ear-to-ear grin split onto his face.
The opposite of them, Enid touched her own face feeling the heat on her cheeks. She shyly looked back at her new roommate and felt it somehow get even hotter. Wednesday was looking at her as if she herself had hung the skies.
Choosing to ignore the two older Addams Weems continued to scold her new student, "Wednesday Addams please refrain from handling Enid Sinclair that way again."
Wednesday looked over at Weems with a glare, “The only person who has authority over Enid is herself. If she wishes for my embrace I will gladly do so. If she asked me to leave and never be in her presence I will cross the world to never be seen." Weems shook her head feeling a headache coming up.
"It's fine!" Enid squeaked, pressing her hands together, "I'm sure Wednesday didn't mean any harm!"
Weems met her eyes and sighed, "For now, Enid would you be a dear and give Wednesday a school tour? Only if you’re comfortable doing so."
Enid nodded jerkily before walking out the door, Wednesday following her dutifully.
Yoko thought it was hilarious.
"You're telling me your new roommate fell head over heels for you the moment you two met?"
Enid was really regretting even telling Yoko anything at all at this point. They were sitting in the quad, and despite the numerous amount of other students mingling about Yoko was by far the loudest.
"Yes! Now please help me I'm like totally bi panicking!" Enid whispered harshly, hiding her face. At the rate it was going, it seemed Enid was going to be permanently red this semester.
“I mean, are you into it?” Yoko asked, sobering up slightly once she got her laughs out.
“No? Yes!? Yoko she’s just so- aagh!” Enid threw her hands up in frustration. Yoko snickered slightly, before bringing her arm over Enid’s shoulder to pull her into a huddle.
“Look wolfie, see how it goes. If your knee-jerk reaction isn’t a flat-out no, I feel like it means you are at least somewhat interested right?” Enid nodded leaning into the huddle as she listened. “And if it doesn’t work out you can just swap roomies with someone,” Yoko added.
"Wednesday?” Enid felt shy suddenly as she walked up towards Wednesday who was typing away at her desk.
"Yes, Enid?" Wednesday dropped what she was doing to turn and look at Enid.
Enid felt her mouth dry at the intense gaze. Gosh, she’s so pretty, Enid thought, sighing internally.
"Can you play something for me?"
"I would bring the stars to you if you asked me to," Wednesday responded earnestly, rising from her chair and walking towards Enid intently. Enid felt her breath stutter as the goth stopped right in front of her. O.M.G. she had freaking freckles! Enid wondered how many her roommate had. Were they only on her face? Would Wednesday let her count them? How long would it take for her to kiss each and every single one?
"Is that a yes?" Enid choked out, realizing she had actually started counting them.
"It’s a yes, mi vida," Wednesday breathed out, taking Enid’s hand into her own and pressing a kiss onto the wolf’s knuckles.
The night ended with Enid leaning down to kiss Wednesday whispering a timid thank you onto the goth’s lips.
Weems had just finished handing out everyone’s volunteering forms and Wednesday was not pleased that she had been assigned to the local coffee shop. She had the unfortunate pleasure of meeting one of the baristas, Tyler Galpin. He was not only incompetent in fixing coffee makers but also unable to understand the word no.
Luckily, Enid had come bounding towards her and told her she had gotten Uriah’s Heap. Refusing to be parted from Enid, Wednesday lied and said she had gotten it too. The blonde had smiled widely at her and held her hand out for Wednesday to take. After they shared a kiss on their balcony they started as Enid put it 'talking' to get to know each other.
Wednesday had taken Enid's hand to press a kiss into her palm apologizing softly and informing her she would meet her there after she did some quick investigating around town. The blonde had pouted slightly but leaned down to kiss Wednesday on the cheek and wished her good luck.
Wednesday would later claim she did not blush at all to Enid.
Thing had done a good job at figuring out where everyone else was assigned and had promptly told Wednesday that Ajax was the other one assigned to Uriah.
Which brings Wednesday to her current predicament.
"Petropulus, switch with me now," Wednesday demanded.
"Woah! Chill dude." Ajax exclaimed.
She watched in slight amusement as he put his hands up like someone would a wild animal. She scoffed internally at his idiocy. He would do better to place his hand near his beanie and threaten to stone her instead. Though, Wednesday was sure that she could throw a knife into his chest before he could pull it off successfully.
"Do not call me 'dude'," Wednesday said, feeling her hands itching to grab one of the various knives on her person. The only thing stopping her from doing so was the fact Enid had called him a friend of hers, and Wednesday would never do anything to hurt her wolf.
"My bad, bro," Ajax said. From his beanie, Wednesday could hear the quiet hissing of the Gorgon’s snakes.
Curiosity sparked and Wednesday had to push down the urge to ask if Gorgons were born with their snakes fully formed. Or if they could grow back.
A question for another time, she thought.
"The fact you made it this far in the education system makes me proud and concerned."
"Thanks," Ajax said, slightly confused.
"Ticket. Now." Wednesday snapped, holding her hand out.
Wednesday stared at the squirrel and rat, marveling at the taxidermist's clean work. She wondered if she could get the master's name, her family could use some new pelts and stuffed hunts mounted on the walls. Lost in her thoughts, she didn't realize Enid had come up next to her till she felt Enid's hand slip into hers. Wednesday offered a smile and Enid leaned over to see the taxidermy.
"They're kinda like us, huh?" Enid said.
"Elaborate."
"Well, they're two totes different species but it kind of just works. People don't like them, people are scared of us. So it's kind of like, us against the world, y'know?"
Wednesday let out a small laugh, pulling Enid down to kiss her.
It was a horrible display of the English language, and if anyone else had uttered it she would have told them they were an idiot. But somehow, coming out of Enid's lips, it was like poetry to Wednesday's beating heart.
Chapter 2: aking sinta
Notes:
Ok, so I am really taken aback to the responses I've gotten to this fic. Thank you guys so much I was literally freaking out all day while I was sightseeing. In fact, I immediately started writing when I woke up to all of ur comments so I decided to crank out another chapter. Most of this was written on the train ride to one of our excursions so I'm sorry if it's not up to ur expectations.
this chapter was mainly inspired by "Habang Buhay" by Zack Tubadio i highly recc his music!
Quick note, the type of Wednesday I'm going for is still a similar one that we know from the show. She's still sarcastic, snippy, and curt with others. That much hasn't changed since that's who she is at her core. However, with Nero not dying and living a good natural life, Wednesday is much more open with her emotions. She's communicative with her family and is not afraid to tell them she loves them. She still does not like touch (only if its from Pugsley and Enid tho). Wednesday is also very open in her adoration of Enid (of course) and is unafraid of letting everyone know.
Anyway, that's enough for now please enjoy!
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
Wednesday could not have asked for anything more romantic than a walk in the woods. She couldn’t believe she was letting this perfect opportunity to propose slip away. She sighed wistfully, she’d just have to hope next time something like this came up she’d have a ring prepared. She could just as easily propose right now but how would she face her family afterward? Her father would be ashamed of having done so with such a halfhearted attempt.
Enid deserved the best after all.
What would they wear? She was sure Enid would look beautiful in whatever she chose. Where would they have it? Wednesday was hoping for a winter wedding right before the full moon. Would they live with her parents afterward or find their own place to live? How many kids would they have? She hoped they all took after Enid.
Wednesday was pulled from her thoughts as the grip on her arm tightened, nails threatening to breach skin through the sleeve of her uniform.
“Why are we here?” Enid asked, her voice a slight pitch higher than normal.
“Tyler had mentioned there was a shack out here last time I talked to him. He seemed eager to bring me here, though his goal was more of a date than a murder. I think he was hoping the creepiness would entice me.” Wednesday responded.
Enid was quiet for a moment before she spoke.
“Did it?”
Wednesday stopped them, reaching out to loosen Enid’s hold on her arm. She brought Enid's hand up to her cheek, “Mi loba, the only thing that has ever enticed me is you.”
Enid smiled softly before leaning down to kiss her. Wednesday made a small noise before pulling away.
“As much as I enjoy kissing you, I do believe Thing would prefer to not see us do so.”
Thing snapped his fingers in agreement from inside Wednesday’s backpack.
When they arrived at the shack, Thing and Wednesday immediately started arguing.
“No, I can’t just touch something. My visions happen spontaneously.”
Thing signed aggressively from the floor.
“I’ll ask Mother later, right now though we’ll try trial and error.”
“What does that mean?” Enid asked, picking up Thing and letting him rest on her shoulder.
“I will be trying to trigger my visions by touching random objects around the area. If I do go into a vision, please watch over me. I shouldn’t be out of it for more than a couple of hours. Feel free to carry me to our room if I go over 30 minutes.”
Enid whimpered in concern but watched dutifully as Wednesday pressed her hand onto one of the wooden beams.
“No.”
Wednesday walked over to one of the walls and slammed both of her hands onto it.
“Nothing.”
Wednesday glanced around and spotted a Taco Bell bag. “Ah, I bet this will give us some real insight.” Enid let out a giggle as Wednesday picked it up and threw her head back mockingly. Thing signed from Enid’s shoulder and Wednesday scowled, “I am taking this seriously, am I not allowed one free joke a day?”
“What about the doorknob? I opened it so you didn’t get to touch it.” Enid offered.
“A great idea, mi vida,” Wednesday said, walking past Enid and touching the doorknob.
Immediately, Wednesday’s neck snapped back violently and Enid rushed forward to catch her.
When Wednesday opened her eyes to see the ceiling in her room she was a bit disappointed she wasn’t met with Enid’s presence. She could, however, hear the slight pitter-patter of the rain hitting the roof and was thankful Enid had brought her in. Thing, who was resting by her bedside informed her Enid had left a bit ago to get them dinner. Wednesday waited patiently for Enid to come back and was promptly pulled into a tight embrace upon her return.
“I’m fine, mi loba. I’m sorry I worried you.” Wednesday brushed her lips against Enid’s and sighed happily when Enid deepened it. The two continued kissing until they heard the door slam as Thing left them alone.
“What did you see?” Enid asked, lifting her thumb to fix Wednesday’s smudged lipstick.
“I believe I saw one of my ancestors from around 400 years ago. Her name is Goody Addams and her family was killed by Joseph Crackstone.” Wednesday said. She noticed some of her lipstick had gotten onto Enid’s lips, but decided to leave it as she just looked so pretty with it.
“Oh my god, I am so sorry Willa.”
“Pay it no mind. She survived, that much I know since I am here. Now, what do you think about helping me get some revenge?”
Enid pressed a kiss on Wednesday’s nose, “Anything for you, Willa.”
Wednesday huffed before pulling Enid down by her tie, “If you’re going to kiss me, do it correctly.”
That afternoon ended up with a certain statue being melted down in an explosion of fire.
When Weems asked Wednesday if she had done it, Wednesday’s only reply was, “I swear on my love for Enid, my hands are clean.”
“When I suggested giving your side of the room a makeover, I did not have Ted Bundy’s Pinterest in mind,” Enid said. She walked up to Wednesday to hug her from behind, her chin resting on the shorter girl’s shoulder.
“Still not as creepy as your stuffed unicorn collection,” replied Wednesday, thumbing through some of the files she had gotten Tyler to give her.
“Where did you go last night?”
“Thing and I made an unsanctioned trip to the morgue. Did you know there are three unsolved murders in town? Highly unusual for such a small population.”
Enid blinked. “There’s so many things wrong with what you just said.”
Wednesday ignored her, pulling away from her arms to turn around and show her some pictures she managed to take earlier.
“Turns out all of the victims have had some of their body parts surgically removed. The first one a kidney, the second one a finger,” Wednesday turned around to get more of the pictures.
“Wednesday I don’t feel-” Enid started, face slightly pale. Unfortunately, Wednesday had looked away at the precise moment, continuing to talk. “Third a gall bladder. He’s collecting trophies like a seasoned serial killer. It’s impressive actually.”
Wednesday turned around to see Enid on the floor.
“Enid!” Wednesday yelled, dropping her photos.
Needless to say, Wednesday was forced to move the murder board somewhere else.
“Hey, Wednesday wait up!”
Wednesday turned around to watch Xavier jog up to her. His presence was unwelcome and Wednesday was hoping whatever he was wanting to ask her would be quick as she had valuable Enid time to get to.
“What do you want Xavier?” Wednesday said, annoyed.
Xavier threw her a boyish grin, “I was just wondering if you had a date to Rave’n?”
“I do, actually," Wednesday replied, "Is that all?"
He seemed to bit shocked and Wednesday watched with delight as his smile slowly melted into a frown.
"Who?" His voice sounded angry and annoyed.
Wednesday opened her mouth to talk but was quickly cut off by a loud growl.
Her skin immediately erupted in goosebumps and her heart began to beat wildly against her chest.
"She's going with me, actually," Enid said, coming up from behind Wednesday to pull her flush against her front. Wednesday leaned back content to watch the wave of emotions roll through Xavier's face.
In the end, he chose to just scowl and run his hands through his hair. "Whatever," Xavier said. Choosing to save some of his pride he walked away with his hands in his pocket.
The moment he turned the corner Wednesday's chin was tilted up and met with a violent kiss from Enid.
“I cannot wait for the dance! We should go dress shopping!” Enid exclaimed. They had just returned to their dorm after Weems caught them making out in the hallway. She had been reprimanding both girls but after seeing that they weren't listening sent them to their room.
Wednesday gave her a look, “I already have a dress, Enid."
Enid shook her head, “Willa. Sweetie. That dress was a fashion emergency."
From Wednesday's sheet music stand Thing signed in agreement. He barely managed to dodge the knife Wednesday threw at him, making his escape as Enid began to lecture Wednesday about throwing knives at him.
The next day they walked down and into town. Enid lead the way to her favorite boutique before turning to Wednesday with a blinding smile. “The dance committee suggested all white to match the theme but that is not gonna fly with us.”
Wednesday raised an eyebrow as she looked at the display on the windows, “I don’t believe I’ll find anything here, Enid.”
Enid rolled her eyes before bopping Wednesday on the nose. “That’s why I’m going in for me, and Yoko told me she saw the perfect dress for you at Uriah’s. I was thinking we meet up in a bit and get some coffee before walking back home?”
“Anything you wish, mi amor,” Wednesday murmured pulling Enid down to kiss her.
Wednesday walked out of Uriah’s holding her bag and a number written down for a woman named Kinbott pleased that she not only had a new dress but that her family would soon get a new taxidermist.
"Hey there, cutie" Enid greeted, taking Wednesday's hand into hers.
"Hello, mi amor." Wednesday said, squeezing their joined hands, "Shall we go get the monstrosity you call an iced coffee?"
Enid laughed leaning her head onto Wednesday's shoulder. "Of course."
They walked into the coffee shop and immediately caught the attention of the only barista on duty.
Wednesday let go of Enid's hand to set down their stuff at one of the booths while Enid went to go order.
Enid caught Tyler smiling in Wednesday's direction and felt a nasty feeling bubble in her chest. She silently cursed and thanked God that she had gotten such a beautiful girlfriend. She realized she was glaring when Tyler's smile dropped once he met her eyes.
"How can I help you today?" Tyler asked, pale-faced.
"I'd like a caramel iced coffee with a chocolate almond croissant," Enid gritted out.
"Anything else?"
"A quad with a plain scone."
"That will be $23.86"
Enid pulled out her wallet aggressively and was just about to tap to pay when Wednesday tapped her own. Both Enid and Tyler jumped at her presence causing Wednesday to smirk.
"Don't worry, mi loba. I can pay for it."
"Are you sure, Willa?"
"I have enough riches for even our great-grandchildren to live lavishly," Wednesday said.
Before Enid could respond (and no her ears were not burning at the idea of them having a family), Tyler’s face brightened.
“Hey Wednesday! I meant to talk to you but I heard there was a dance at Nevermore. Would you be down to go with me?”
Enid felt a growl start to come out but was stopped as Wednesday took her hand. “Actually, I am going with Enid. We are on a date right now.” Wednesday looked at him blankly and Enid puffed up in pride.
“Enid? So all those signals you’ve been giving me are nothing?” Tyler said, looking angry.
“I have been giving you no signals. My heart has and always will belong to Enid. I shower her in love and affection whenever I can as that is only the minimum she deserves. Keep your weak feelings of puppy love to yourself as they cannot hold a flame to the roaring fire I feel for Enid.” With that Wednesday ended the conversation and promptly started to make her way to their booth, pulling Enid along with her.
Yup, Enid thought, I’m going to be permanently red for the rest of my life.

Notes:
OMG I meant to post something about two days after the last post but I've been so stressed remembering this is a study abroad and I actually have to do stuff for class. This time i wrote this chapter on the way to Salzburg since the train ride was like 2 hours. Inspired by a mix of songs but the title is from Barbie's Dua Lipa song "Dance the Night" cuz its stuck in my head.

Chapter Text
Enid couldn't fathom her reasoning for fighting this in the first place. Everything was perfect. Wednesday was perfect. Some days it seemed like Wednesday was a drug and Enid had become an addict.
"Willa-," Enid gasped as she felt teeth digging into the curve of her shoulder, a low chuckle following it. "Yes, mi vida?" Wednesday pulled away to look down at her.
They had woken up a couple minutes ago and somehow their cuddling ended with Wednesday on her lap and her tongue down her throat. Not that Enid was complaining, though she really wanted Wednesday to continue. Unable to form words she let out a low whine and against her better judgment tangled her fingers into Wednesday's hair and tried to pull her back down.
Wednesday complied, unable to tease her wolf any longer, and lightly sucked on Enid’s neck until a bright red mark was left. Enid preened at the mark. They made out for a bit longer before Wednesday pulled away to speak.
"I'll be washing my clothes tomorrow. Be free around 5 pm if you want to scent them otherwise, I will be displeased."
See! Enid melted against Wednesday and kissed her firmly, allowing her hands to squeeze Wednesday's tights. She was absolutely perfect!
"I'll be there I promise, Willa," Enid said, earnestly.
Wednesday answered by pressing a kiss on the corner of her mouth with a slight hum. Wanting to continue kissing, Enid leaned forward to do just that but was disappointed when Wednesday slid off her lap. Wednesday ignored Enid’s whimpers and began to get ready for class. Enid, sensing she was being ignored, fell back onto her bed and laid for a while.
After some more rustling from the other side of the room, Wednesday leaned over her, and oh what a sight she was. Her hair was back in its iconic braids, and her uniform was finely pressed. Wednesday was talking, she was probably saying something Important but Enid couldn’t remember. She gripped Wednesday’s tie and yanked her back onto her. Wednesday complied without complaint, taking her spot back on Enid’s lap.
They were both late to first period.
Later that day, when classes were over, Yoko came over to hang out with Enid. Which was perfectly timed as Wednesday had informed Enid she had to meet with someone about the ongoing investigation and would probably be back late.
“So how are things with you and Divina?” Enid asked, throwing her backpack on the floor by her bed. Yoko did the same before the two sat down on Enid’s bed. “I asked her to the Rave’n earlier today actually and she said yes,” Yoko grinned, showing her fangs. The news made Enid squeal and Yoko leaned over to cover her mouth.
“This is why they should muzzle you wolves,” Yoko teased. Enid huffed and tried pulling Yoko’s hand off but was denied.
Suddenly, an idea popped into Enid’s head and Yoko frowned as she felt the wolf smirk against her hand. Before she could react she felt a wet tongue drag across her palm.
"YOU DID NOT JUST DO THAT!" Yoko screamed, pushing Enid away to wipe the dog drool from her palm.
Enid stuck out her tongue mockingly and yelped as Yoko tackled her. Two bruises and wounded pride later they broke up their roughhousing.
"Congrats tho Yoyo! I'm so happy for you and Divinia." Enid said sincerely, handing the vampire her shades as Enid had knocked them off her earlier.
"Thanks, E," Yoko took a moment to fix her shades, “So? What’s the sitch with Addams?”
She watched as Enid's face brightened.
“It’s going great! Perfect even! Yoko, she’s just so sweet and romantic all the time it’s so hard not to fall for her.”
Enid sighed dreamily as she fell back on her bed. Yoko snorted as she had a hard time imagining the small ball of fury and death as any of what Enid described her as. Enid nudged Yoko with her foot.
“Don’t laugh!”
Yoko put her hands up grinning, “Alright my bad!”
Both girls were quiet for a bit before Yoko broke the silence, “So does that mean you two are going out soon?”
“We kind of are already? I mean we kiss and go out on dates. I’m sure she’s just waiting on me because she’s already tried proposing once-”
Enid smacked Yoko as soon as she started laughing.
“Hey!”
“Are you sure you aren’t a witch or siren? That girl is so enamored with you! You’re torturing her poor heart.”
Enid threw her a wolfish grin. “I think she likes that though.” She let out a yelp as Yoko smacked her hard with her pillow.
“ENID YOU DOG!”
Wednesday had the displeasure of having met Bianca Barclay a handful of times already. She not only bested the siren in fencing, taking up the mantle as captain, but she had also successfully knocked her out of winning the Poe Cup.
Wednesday found her to be a worthy rival and one of the only other competent people at Nevermore (besides her beloved of course). She was sure Bianca would feel the same if it weren’t for the fact that Xavier had become enamored with Wednesday and for some odd reason Bianca wanted to get back together with him, making her hate Wednesday more.
Wednesday took it in stride and decided that her need for Bianca’s skills far outweigh keeping this childish facade up. So, after informing Enid that she’d probably be gone for the night, she approached Bianca at the quad interrupting her conversation with Divina.
“Barclay.”
“Addams.”
“I’m in need of your assistance, would you perhaps be available later today?”
“Why should I help you?” Bianca was suspicious and refused to believe Wednesday would approach her this innocently.
“Why should anyone help anyone?”
“Kindness is not something I thought you would know.”
“I was thinking more along the lines of money but if you value yourself that low I can save a couple of dollars.” Bianca let out a sound of disbelief before turning to Divina and telling her she could 'handle it' and to leave. Divina complied and left.
"What is it you need help with?"
Satisfied that Bianca had dismissed Divina and solidified that this conversation was private she dropped ‘the bomb’ as Thing and Enid would say. "Can you use your siren song on someone for me?”
Silence.
Fury ran through Bianca. Wednesday’s eyes caught the moment Bianca’s hands formed fists and she tensed ready to fight if needed. If anything she kind of hoped Bianca would swing, it had been far too long since she had gotten into a physical altercation.
She tried not to let her disappointment show when she saw Bianca take a deep breath to hold her composure.
"Why?" Bianca asked. Wednesday mulled over the pros and cons of telling her the truth for a second before speaking, "I'm trying to get to the bottom of these murders. I believe I'm close to finding out but I need to eliminate one suspect." Bianca's face was wiped of emotion, which impressed Wednesday. “What exactly do you want me to do?"
Wednesday smiled and Bianca immediately regretted her decision.
"Why did I agree to this?" Bianca massaged her temple as she watched Wednesday blindfold the Sheriff. He had been knocked cold on his way back home by Wednesday and dragged into Xavier’s shack.
Speaking of Xavier, Bianca could not believe he had made these many paintings of Wednesday. Maybe it was a good thing Xavier broke up with her, Bianca shuddered to think what he got up to in here with his powers.
"I believe a moment of insanity allowed me to convince you, if not then an act of the gods," Wednesday replied, wiping the sweat off her forehead as she finished securing the Sheriff's hands and legs to the chair. "Now I will use the salts to bring him back to consciousness. I expect you to follow through." Wednesday paused. "Please."
Bianca shuddered, "As long as you never say please to me ever again." Wednesday smirked before bringing out the salts. Bianca held her nose at the stench, happy her sense of smell was dulled out of the water.
They watched as the Sheriff slowly woke up and trash against the ropes when he realized he wasn’t home. "What in the world-" Wednesday shushed him and jerked her head at Bianca to start.
Bianca swallowed hard before taking her necklace off. "Sherrif Galpin, can you tell me where your son is right now?" Instantly the fight left the Sherrif as he slumped back in his seat.
"He's working. Told me this morning he'd be home late."
Both girls shared a look before continuing. "What do you know about the murders?" Wednesday listened carefully as he told them information she already held. It wasn't until he leaned his head back that he said something interesting
"I have a suspicion it could be Tyler. Could turn out like his mom." Wednesday leaned forward in curiosity and Bianca pushed forward, "What does Tyler's mom make you think he did it?"
"She was an outcast. A Hyde."
There. Wednesday grinned.
Despite having a big lead on the investigation Wednesday put it aside as the day of the Rave’n came. She had just finished getting ready when Enid walked out of the bathroom. Wednesday felt breathless just looking at her. No words could describe the perfection that was Enid Sinclair. Wednesday's eyes raked up and down Enid’s form. Just breathtaking.
"Wow. Wednesday you look," Enid swallowed hard, "Absolutely beautiful."
"And you look enchanting, mon ange." Wednesday breathed.
The wolf came upon her and ran her fingers through Wednesday's fringe.
"Can I kiss you?" she whispered.
Wednesday nodded and closed her eyes the moment their lips touched. Enid's hands rested on Wednesday's hips, pulling her flush against her. In response, Wednesday's arms looped around the wolf's shoulders.
Her left hand pressed Enid's head down more in an effort to bring their mouths closer. Wednesday felt her heart soar and was fighting the urge to fall onto her knees and propose. Having learned her lesson the first time she now carried a ring everywhere, and was proud to say she had already proposed once.
They only pulled away when Yoko came bursting in with Divina and promptly ran as Wednesday chased her angrily at having interrupted them.
“TANAKA!” Wednesday yelled. The hallway echoed with Yoko’s laughs.
Enid and Divina shared a laugh themselves before linking their arms together and making their way to the dance.
Notes:
What do you think!?
i am not making tyler a villain in this fic. I'm actually doing something a little different with him now that he got friend zoned by Wednesday. Bianca was always going to be introduced and thought it would be fitting for Wednesday to beat her in everything she didn't in the show. Morticia's comment about Wednesday holding herself back really made me think about how much better Wednesday could of been if she didn't shut herself out and hold her mother as the worst thing to ever be. I actually already wrote a scene with Morticia and Wednesday but decided not to include it just yet. I mainly drew inspiration from this one fic where Enid had commented how Morticia held an edge that Wednesday never did. But, in this scenario she does. and she is sharper. if that makes sense?
Anyway, I really hope i'm staying consistent. its kind of hard for me to keep up a long term project but I'm really enjoying this scenario. Good news is that I already have the next chapter halfway done. Bad news is I probs won't publish the next one till Thursday (Saturday at the latest). I have a lot going on before my flight on Saturday back to the states and don't have time to make sure the plot makes sense and stuff.
Again, please let me know what you think!
Chapter 4: give me love if you have it
Notes:
I didn't forget I've just been so hard on myself in getting out the perfect chapter. unfortunately, it isn't up to my expectations but I also feel like I was trying to write way too much. Or well more than I'm used to. If i had continued to keep this in drafts the chapter itself could easily reach 5k words as it was getting way too big. so i cut it down and decided on just publishing this much.

Yoko did end up surviving. Much to Wednesday's dismay. The vampire was nursing a bruised rib and ego when they entered the dance.
“Maybe it’s better if we cool down and go separately,” Enid suggested.
“You think?” Yoko groaned, walking away. Divina threw them a smile before she followed behind her date.
“Welcome students,” Weems greeted, a warm smile on her face. Enid waved at her enthusiastically while they passed by. Wednesday took a second to admire the decorations. While black would have looked a lot better, she had to admit that the dance committee did a good job decorating the place.
“Do you want to dance?”
She turned towards Enid, who was holding her hand out.
Je t'aime tellement
“It would be my pleasure.” She let the wolf guide her to the dance floor.
Wednesday could not begin to describe just how beautiful Enid was at that moment. Not to say she wasn’t beautiful every day, but something about tonight just made Enid glow.
She watched as Enid swayed to the music, smiling brightly at her, and felt herself let go.
A couple of songs later, they stumbled over to the refreshment table and helped themselves to the spread before finding a table to rest.
“How has the investigation been going?” Enid asked, taking a bite of the vanilla cupcake she got.
“Thanks to Bianca I’ve gotten a huge lead,” Wednesday paused, “Actually, do you know anything about Tyler’s mom?”
Enid hummed thoughtfully as she shoved the last bit of the cupcake in her mouth, “I dountsh thinksh sho?” Wednesday reached out with a napkin to wipe the crumbs off the corner of the blonde’s mouth.
Wednesdays scolded her lightly, “Don’t talk with your mouth full.”
Enid swallowed grinning sheepishly, “Sorry, thank you. But for real, I don’t have anything on her other than she died when Tyler was like 7 years old or something. Even then it was kind of a mystery what truly happened. Guess it helps when your dad’s the sheriff.”
Wednesday watched Enid’s gaze shift to something behind her. The wolf’s smile suddenly turned into a scowl.
Wednesday furrowed her eyebrows, “Everything okay, Enid?”
She reached out to lace their fingers together. Enid gave her a reassuring squeeze.
“I’m fine it’s just-,” Enid bit back a growl, “I can’t believe someone actually brought Lucas! He’s such an asshole, especially to Eugene.”
Wednesday quirked an eyebrow, “Eugene?”
She had spent countless nights in Enid’s arms since the start of their courtship. Listening to her gossip over just about everyone in town.
Everyone but Eugene, it seems.
Enid waved her off.” Oh, he’s a psychic. He’s the president and sole member of the Bee Club. Nice guy but he’s always getting bullied by normies.” She opted not to inform Wednesday that he was very much into her. Enid saw him as harmless and really didn’t want her to hurt him.
Wednesday turned her head to look at Lucas, watching the normie boy carefully.
Despite his date being mere inches from him, he seemed fidgety and constantly looked down at his phone when the girl looked away. Wednesday tilted her head slightly in curiosity.
She was itching to investigate. She looked away from him to bring her drink up to her lips but noticed it was empty.
“Do you want another drink?” Enid asked, Wednesday felt a smile tug at her lips wordlessly handing Enid her drink. Enid beamed, kissing her briefly before taking the cup and bouncing away to the refreshment table.
Wednesday noticed Yoko slide towards her wolf with Divina and took the opportunity to investigate.
Silently, she made her way toward Lucas.
“Surprise to see you here.”
Wednesday’s lip twitched in amusement when the normie jumped away from her. He cleared his throat and straightened his posture. Hoping to seem aloof despite clearly almost shitting his pants.
“Yeah, I took your beating as a lesson.” He gave her a weak smile. Wednesday felt like it was just yesterday when she bested them at the Weathervane.
“So it has nothing to do with your break up?”
He gulped. “How did you-?”
“Enid’s my… roommate and paramour,” Wednesday really hoped Enid wouldn’t mind her calling her that despite not making things official, “she knows everything about everyone.”
“Yeah, well um, Olivia is trying to get her ex-boyfriend jealous so we decided for a mutual-”
“What about your friends?” Wednesday’s eyes seemed almost predatory to Lucas.
“Huh?”
“Do they know you’re here? At an Outcast party?” She took a step towards him, and he followed it with a fearful step back.
“Um..”
“I’m suspecting they do, and knowing how they are I’m sure they’re planning something. You’re a bit smarter though, and know your father, the Mayor, would not like this at all. That’s why you’re here with an alibi. Those two? They’re idiots that would drive themselves into an early grave without a second thought.” He didn’t answer, just stared at her with fearful eyes.
She leaned in, “So tell me, am I right to assume they're pulling up as we speak?”
A chime from his phone confirmed her assumption. His eyes didn’t leave hers as she began to circle him. A bead of sweat began to trail down his forehead. She could almost taste the fear in the air.
“Now, what are you going to do?”
He swore he saw her eyes emit a glow.
“So, what have learned?” Wednesday said. The two normies were hanging upside down on a tree branch. Neither could reply as their mouths were duct-taped. Muffled screams of protest met her ears. Beside her, was Lucas looking defeated.
“Come. Our dates are waiting.” She left him unscathed this time, not wanting to embarrass Olvia and knowing that the lesson had hit home this time around. She had leverage against him to his father, and could easily have him sent away to some army camp if he stepped out of line.
Enid found her still sitting in her seat when she came back from fetching her drink. An apology fell from her lips, “My bad, baby. I got a bit carried away talking to Yoko and Divina right now.”
“It’s alright, mi amor, I did not mind.” Enid set the drink down in front of her before sitting down.
“Actually, Enid would you mind going for a walk?” The music was starting to get to her a bit.
“I’d love to!”
Wednesday stood up, offering Enid her arm who happily linked their arms together.
The music got softer and softer as they walked into the courtyard.
Okay, Enid, this is perfect you can do this. She took a deep breath before speaking.
“Hey, Willa?”
“Yes, Enid?”
Enid cleared her throat taking Wednesday’s left hand into her own.
“These past few weeks have been amazing, and I want to thank you for being so patient with me. I just- Will you be my girlfriend?” Wednesday’s knees buckled, and Enid caught her by the elbow before she could fully kneel.
“I adore you Willa, but let’s start off with girlfriends first.”
Wednesday nodded earnestly, bringing Enid’s hand to her lips and kissing them.
"Yes. Apologies, mi vida. I would love to be your girlfriend."
They shared a kiss, pulling away when they heard Weem’s scream from across campus.
It seemed she found the normies.
The next day Wednesday found herself calling her mother. Enid was not in their room, as she was helping out some of the Gorgons move some stoned victims into the safe room. It seemed one of their parties had gone wrong, and caused about 10 students to turn to stone.
Ajax had burst into their room a bit ago, crying for help which Enid hurriedly followed behind.
"Wednesday! What a frightful surprise. How are you, my daughter?" Morticia was as ethereal as ever.
"I'm fine mother, I hope you've been doing terrible."
"With your father I always am." Wednesday hummed and finally her mom asked her the most important question. "How is your beloved? I hope you haven't scared her off just yet."
Wednesday let a smile fall on her features, "Enid is as always the bane of my existence. I shower her with love from morning till dawn and dream only of her. Just yesterday she asked me to officially be her girlfriend."
Morticia held a hand to her chest, "Oh I'm so happy for you my daughter."
"As much as I would love to continue talking about my eternal devotion to Enid, I did have a question for you about my powers."
"Of course, I'm always here for help."
"Wonderful."
A bit later, once the moon was high in the sky came Enid bouncing towards her. Wednesday dropped her conversation with her mother in favor of welcoming her wolf.
"Mi amor, welcome back my heart ached for you every second you were away." Enid giggled and kissed Wednesday briefly before speaking, "I missed you too, baby. Who are you talking to?'
Wednesday was too busy enraptured by her beloved to answer so her mother spoke for her.
"Hello Enid, I'm Wednesday's mother. We've met only briefly but it is great to see you again. I hope Wednesday has been awful."
"The worst!" Enid chirped, throwing her arms around Wednesday who was conflicted in wanting to kiss her or proposing once more.
"I'm glad to hear," Morticia said. "My dearest viper as much as I would love to continue hearing how your investigation is going I must get going. It seems Kitty got out again ."
Wednesday nodded and bid her mother goodbye before putting away the ball.
"I wish my mom was like yours." Enid sighed resting her chin on Wednesday's shoulder. Wednesday leaned back and let Enid sway them back and forth. "I can-"
"No dear."
Wednesday pouted.
Notes:
I really hope you all enjoyed this. sorry for not updating, I've just been relaxing and stressing over finances since I got back to the US. the chapter was supposed to originally skip over the dance entirely and go over parents' weekend and Enid's anxiety over seeing her mom but ended up turning into this. next chapter for sure will include Enid's anxiety, and more on the murders (so expect Tyler to be mentioned slightly). I don't think I'll end up bringing Eugene in this, i just can't think of a scenario where they would meet and be friends. Especially since he's interested in Enid. Also, the reason I didn't have her join his club is because she technically is captain of the fencing team so that kind of counts right? idk. maybe I'm just lazy. anyway, i do have the family weekend drafted but want to work on the investigation a bit more. might also upload another one shot between this and the next chapter.
anyway enough rambling i gotta sleep its like...almost 2AM. teehee.
Chapter 5: bạn hay thù?
Notes:
I am so sorry I've tried so hard to pick this up and couldn't think of anything. Honestly though its on me, for some reason I wanted to write the Nightshades scene and spent a lot of time writing the dialogue then scrapped it all cuz it was awful and didn't really help the story.
There's actually no song inspo since most of the songs I'm listening to are love songs and this ep deals more with the investigation then anything else. I do recc "See Tinh" by Hoang Thuy Linh its literally my obsession rn. I might even write a one-shot based on it but it's up in the air. anyway enjoy lmk what yall think.

Chapter Text
Enid had always been a morning person. The moment the sun peeked out of the horizon, she was up and out the door eager to start her day. Things changed, however, when she started to date Wednesday Addams.
“Mi vida, please we have class at 8 today,” Wednesday murmured, lips pressed against blonde hair. She was currently the big spoon, holding Enid against her chest, their legs entwined under the covers.
Enid whined, tightening her grip on her girlfriend, and pressing her nose to Wednesday’s throat. The raven let out a pleased hum, tightening her hold on the wolf.
Mornings had become the bane of Enid's existence, how dare the sun rip her away from Wednesday’s arms.
“I know mon chiot, but we must-” Enid tilted her head up, letting her lips brush against Wednesday’s.
“10 more minutes," Enid mumbled, sleepily.
Wednesday gave in, closing her eyes and melting in the embrace.
Contrary to everyone’s belief, Wednesday was fully capable of functioning without Enid.
She refused to allow herself to fall into a codependent relationship like her parents, who had not spent a day separated from each other since their wedding day. It might work for them, but Wednesday did not want to stop Enid from being her own person.
So while Enid juggled her numerous club activities and social groups, Wednesday was free to manage her fencing captain responsibilities and investigate the mysterious murders around town.
In the aftermath of her murder board’s eviction, Wednesday had remembered the existence of the Nighshade’s library and promptly moved in. The memory of the member's botched kidnapping made her smirk while she set up her board.
“Did you really need to put that here?” Bianca asked. She was sitting in the corner of the Nightshade’s library on the couch. Her homework was splayed around the coffee table, a half-eaten tuna sandwich in her hand.
“Of course, where else would I put this?” Wednesday asked, turning around, arms crossed as she met the siren’s gaze.
“Maybe your own room?” Bianca suggested sarcastically.
“You tell that to Enid, see if you can resist her puppy eyes.”
Bianca just rolled her eyes in response content to just ignore the seer. After about 30 minutes, she took a glance at the board, felt her appetite fall, and put her sandwich down.
Nope. Nope.
“Have you followed up with the Hyde?” Bianca asked, getting up, and walking over to Wednesday to help look over her notes.
"No. I was a bit busy attending to more pressing matters."
“Well, what are you waiting for? Permission?”
“No. More of an opportunity.” Wednesday pointed at one of the many files hanging on the board, a printed schedule of Tyler’s shifts was circled, "It's been a bit hard since he's been scheduled during fencing practice." Bianca glanced at the schedule and zeroed in on today.
“Seems like he’s working right now, and they’re closing in an hour,” Bianca noted.
“Seems like it, and thankfully Enid is out till 10 p.m. today with Tanaka.” Wednesday broke down her board and put it away before heading out.
The moment Wednesday left, Bianca sagged in relief.
“Here without your shadow?” Tyler said, bitterly. Since her newest discovery, Wednesday had tried her best to look for hints of Tyler’s hyde genetics in his day-to-day interactions when she could.
She had, unfortunately, not seen an indication of any and was here for a more direct approach.
“It’s the other way around actually, and no. She’s her own person just as I am.” She watched Tyler’s mouth twist into a scowl.
“Yeah, sure. What do you want?” he asked, his eyes trained on her.
“A quad and a scone,” Wednesday replied. She might as well get a drink and a snack while she was here.
“I meant- actually never mind, that’ll be $6.12” Tyler sighed, punching in the order and motioning for her to pay on the machine.
Wednesday tapped her card before walking away. She slid into her normal booth, bringing out her notebook to look over her notes. She must have been a bit too into it, as she was a little surprised when Tyler set her order down.
“That for the investigation?” He looked hesitant to ask.
“Yes.” She took a sip of her drink. He might be a murder suspect, but he was a murder suspect who made really good coffee.
“Can I look?” He leaned over to glance at it and Wednesday immediately shut it.
“No.”
“C’mon don’t be like that. I can help.” He threw her puppy eyes and Wednesday felt her guard chip away.
“How much longer till you get off?” She asked. Tyler lit up, a boyish grin on his face, “About 30 minutes from now.”
Wednesday nodded, “Then we can talk then.” She returned to her notebook and was about to go over it once more when Tyler’s voice cut in.
“Your girlfriend won’t mind?”
“As long as you keep your hands to yourself I won’t mind,” Wednesday said, not looking up.
Tyler snorted, “Will do.”
About 45 minutes later, Tyler had finished closing the shop and slid into the seat across Wednesday.
“So what’s up?” Wednesday held his gaze for a second, his head tilting to the side curiously. She took a deep breath before pulling out a file from her folder.
“How much do you know about your mom?”
“Wow. Okay. Just ripping that off huh?” Tyler hit his palms over his knees rubbing them, “Well my dad won’t say much. Keeps her pretty much a secret. I’ve always been curious but never really found anything. Why?”
“I may have done something slightly illegal,” Wednesday admitted, causing Tyler to break into a small grin.
“So very much illegal huh? Don’t worry I can’t judge.”
Ah yes, his previous violent streak and hate crimes.
“I won’t go into specifics but I think I found a clue into who she is. Or more specifically, what she is.”
At that slight change of wording, Tyler frowned.
Wednesday continued, “I am under the impression you might be part outcast. A Hyde to be specific.”
Tyler let out a nervous laugh, “What does that mean? What’s a Hyde?” Wednesday felt a bit of pity for him when she saw his increasingly distraught face.
“I’m not entirely sure, but Tyler,” Wednesday placed the paperwork in front of him, “I believe your father thinks you might be involved in these murders.”
Tyler blinked back tears, his throat burning as he looked over the files. “I always knew he didn’t really like me but I had thought maybe deep down he still loved me. Guess I was wrong.”
He clicked his tongue, looking at her with teary-pained eyes. “Do you think the same?”
She held his gaze for a second before closing her eyes and shaking her head.
“No.
Despite his anger problems and past crimes, she couldn't detect a hint of monstrous energy from him. Her family had a sense for danger, something Enid compared to 'spidey sense' and at the moment she could not feel an ounce of it coming from him.
He smiled slightly but it soon changed into a grimace. “Actually, now that you mention it I had this lady come up to me a couple of months before the murders started happening.”
Wednesday inhaled sharply, leaning forward.
“Explain.”
“It was right after I just came back from camp, she had come up to me saying she knew a bit about my mother. Showed me some pictures of her and I cried. No mention of her being a Hyde. She didn’t hold me or reassure me, she just watched me with this weird look. After a while, she kind of just patted my shoulder and left.”
“Quite interesting. Maybe she knows what Hyde is. Do you remember who she was?”
“She mentioned she was a teacher. She had blonde hair and blue eyes.”
“No one really matches that description at Nevermore other than Weems, and you’ve seen her countless times to not be familiar with her.”
Tyler shrugged, wiping his eyes. “She hasn’t come up to me since then but she does send me letters asking to come to her if I ever feel overwhelmed.”
Wednesday hummed thoughtfully before writing down Enid’s number on a napkin and passing it to Tyler, “Here, this is Enid’s number. If you ever need me call or text her number and I will come.” Tyler took it, looking down at the scrawled numbers before laughing.
“Sure, Wends.”
“Don’t call me that.”
“Baby steps got it.”
Stepping into her dorm, she was met with the sight of her girlfriend pacing frantically in the middle of their room.
“Mi amor?” Wednesday spoke softly while she made her way toward her lover. Enid paused in her pacing to face Wednesday, her eyes were frantic and her lower lip was trembling.
“O.M.G Willa I can’t believe I forgot Parent Weekend was this Friday!” Enid felt her claws unsheathing and sheathing repeatedly. Was that her heart beating frantically or was that just her imagination? Enid curled her fingers into a fist forcing her claws to stop coming out.
Wednesday held her arms open, to which Enid happily fell into to embrace her. The raven slowly walked them towards her bed and sat down pulling Enid onto her lap.
"Are you worried about meeting my parents in person? They adore you, Enid. Almost as much as I do." She pushed back Enid's hair from her face, kissing her nose lovingly.
“It’s not that,” Enid sniffed, “I just- My parents are coming and I don't want to deal with them. My mom is going to whip out her judgy claws the moment she sees me and all my dad is gonna do is watch-” She stopped mid-sentence and let out a noise that sounded very close to a dog whimpering. Wednesday pressed her hands against Enid’s back, making soothing circles in hopes of calming her down. “I forgot to tell them!” Enid squeaked, hands over her mouth in horror. Wednesday froze, blinking rapidly as Enid met her eyes.
“You’re telling me you never told your parents I was courting you?” Wednesday brought one of her hands up to massage her temple as she felt a headache form.
“I just forgot I promise! I’ve just been so focused on you and school that I completely forgot to tell them.”
They stared at each other for a beat before Wednesday spoke, “You aren’t allowed to wear or scent any of my clothes for a week."
Enid gasped, “You wouldn’t dare!”
Wednesday brought her hands to Enid’s hips and lifted her off her lap. Enid made graby hands but Wednesday easily dodged her and leveled a glare at the wolf.
“Try me.”

Chapter Text
Wednesday was currently on Enid’s lap, eyes skimming a book as the werewolf happily scented her. Today marked not only the start of Parent Weekend but also the end of the now school-famous scenting ban. The seer had stayed strong, resisting her girlfriend’s puppy eyes despite the pleading cries of their friend group. Wednesday’s scent ban had caused many fights to break out and Enid’s violent displays had occured on a daily basis. Let it be known that werewolves are extremely territorial, wolfed out or not. She swooned slightly at the memories of Enid drenched in the blood of a fellow fur who had tried asking Wednesday out.
So far her puppy had behaved, but she soon found herself shutting her book and tossing it aside the moment Enid’s lips wrapped around her earlobe.
“Enid,” she groaned.
“Mmh. Yes, Wednesday?” Lips were soon replaced with teeth.
“Don’t make me take away kissing privileges too,” Wednesday said, failing to sound threatening.
Enid chuckled lowly against her skin sending goosebumps down her spine. “Now that I know for sure you can’t hold up.”
The school was abuzz after Weems’ speech, the loud chattering of families reuniting all over the quad was deliciously ear-deafening.
In the midst of all the chaos was a raven and her wolf.
“Remind me what the game plan is again, Willa? I’m way too nervous to think right now.” Gone was the blonde’s cocky attitude from earlier, in its place was a ball of pure anxiety.
Wednesday rubbed Enid’s back in an attempt to soothe her nerves. “We will speak to your family first. I already informed my parents of the situation and they promised to keep themselves busy for now.”
The wolf gave her a half-hearted smile, “Thanks, baby.”
“Of course, mi vida. ”
Enid let out a dreadful sigh. “I’m sorry again for not telling them beforehand.” She held out her hand for Wednesday who took it without a second thought, bringing it to her lips and kissing the inside of her wrist.
“I would crawl through heaven and hell for you, mi loba .”
Enid felt her heart flutter and wondered how she could have forgotten to tell her parents about her wonderful girlfriend.
“I love you too, Wednesday.”
It was pretty easy to find Enid’s family, specifically her brothers who were acting downright embarrassing in front of everyone.
Wednesday had seen Enid’s brothers around campus plenty enough, rambunctious troublemakers who struggled to keep up in their core classes. Outside of Academics all of them were the epitome of true werewolves. Pack-oriented and extremely talented when it came to hunting.
Wednesday herself had enjoyed some informational exchange when it came to gutting wildlife. Though their interactions were few and far between, despite openly dating their younger sister. While she would normally acknowledge their existence, they seemed too busy wrestling each other to even spare her a glance.
Enid let go of her hand to step forward and greet her mother. Wednesday took a second to observe. Esther Sinclair was greying, with crazy locks of hair that resembled that of her sons. Her husband stood off to the side, leaning against a pillar with warm eyes taking in his family. He looked tired, and Wednesday couldn’t fault him if the stories about Enid’s mother rang true.
“Enid! Oh, let me look at you.” The matriarch took a step towards her daughter with a gentle smile before it quickly disappeared when she got a closer look. “Have you not been waxing?” Wednesday felt a spike of irritation at the useless comment. Wolves naturally had more body hair than other Outcasts, but she cared little for it. In fact, she didn't care at all if the blonde decided she would never shave again.
She watched her girlfriend bite her tongue and stiffen the moment Esther sniffed the air around her. It was common for werewolves to greet each other in such a way, as it helped detect changes in mood and health (as well as mating status). Sadly, being human stopped Wednesday from truly scenting Enid no matter how many times they slept in each other's arms.
“Are you feeling well? You’re looking a touch anemic.” Esther grasped Enid’s arms with a judgmental look. “Have you been eating enough red meat?”
Wednesday felt deeply insulted at the fact that the mother wolf would insinuate that she was not keeping Enid well-fed. She ensured Enid ate her weight in meat every single day, religiously gifting her sweets when the wolf even mentioned a craving. However, she had to remind herself that the matriarch did in fact, not know that Enid was being cared for by her.
“It’s good to see you too Mom,” Enid said, and she meant it despite how overbearing her mother was. “And you Dad,” she added, meeting her father's eyes.
He smiled at her before his eyes shifted behind her to stare at Wednesday.
Realizing that her daughter had brought someone with her, Esther Sinclair perked up.
“Who’s this behind you? Don’t be rude Enid, introduce us.” Esther swatted Enid’s shoulder.
The slap had been hard enough for Enid to stumble forward slightly, though it was more out of surprise than force.
Wednesday’s hand twitched at the action. Curse her beloved for making her leave her knives, she thought.
Enid cleared her throat, cheeks dusting pink as she reached out to hold Wednesday’s hand and tug her forward. The seer happily complied, inching close enough that their shoulders were touching.
“Mom. Dad. This is my girlfriend, Wednesday.” The blonde closed her eyes, bracing herself for their reactions. Instead, her mother sniffed around Wednesday, who watched with a calculated look.
"A bit dark isn't she?" Esther commented, circling around the couple. "You aren't a werewolf either right dear?"
Wednesday raised an eyebrow and held Esther's gaze when it fell on her. Both of them knew the scent that was seeping through her skin was not accidental. This question wasn’t as harmless as it appeared, this was to asses her worth as a potential mate .
"I have some werewolves in my family, but my genes are mixed with almost every outcast imaginable so the traits children gain depend on the other parent. My mother is a psychic and I have inherited that ability as well."
Esther backed away to look at her mate who just tilted his head. After another beat of silence, she turned back to the young couple.
"What are your intentions with Enid?" she pressed.
“ Mom !” Enid shrieked, embarrassed.
"Marriage," Wednesday replied, almost breathlessly. “I love nothing else like your daughter, she bewitched me the moment I laid eyes on her.”
"W-willa!" Enid turned to look at her girlfriend who pulled out a pink box. She was going to die. Absolutely die of embarrassment over this. She could hear Yoko snickering from across the quad.
"I've tried proposing thrice already, but your daughter insists we wait," Wednesday said, revealing the ring held inside the box. Esther and Murray blinked at the ring and suddenly turned to their daughter.
"Enid, why would you say no to her proposal?”
Enid gaped at her mother’s response.
“This could be your only chance to not be a lone wolf -" Esther stopped talking, feeling the hair on the back of her neck stand up as an object whizzed past her. Growls erupted from the rest of the Sinclairs, even Enid’s brothers stopped wrestling to see what just happened.
Enid felt Wednesday shift beside her and she quickly turned to see if her girlfriend was okay.
“O.M.G Wednesday!” Enid cried.
The goth held a dagger between her teeth, seemingly unphased by the fact. Enid caught a glimpse of Wednesday's tongue gliding along the edge of the blade, dark eyes widening slightly before she procured a handkerchief (Enid found it incredibly cute that she even had one). Wednesday removed the knife from her mouth and carefully wrapped the black cloth around the blade.
A scowl made it on her face. “Really Pugsley, how childish.” Huh? Enid thought.
“C’mon!” The Sinclair pack whirled around to see a young boy trotting over, with two larger figures following a couple of steps behind. “Like you didn’t throw knives when you were my age,” Pugsley grumbled, he stopped just out of arm's length of his sister crossing his arms and pouting. “Of course I did,” Wednesday scoffed, “ I just didn't miss .”
After the initial shock finally wore off, Enid stepped forward to inspect her girlfriend. “You okay babe!?” Wednesday put her hand out to stop her, “Don’t. It’s silver. I have to wash it out of my mouth before you get near me.”
Inwardly Enid whined at the prospect of not kissing Wednesday though her ears turned bright red at what the girl just hinted at.
“ Silver !?” Esther exclaimed, alarmed. The Sinclairs took a step back, except Enid, and watched the family suspiciously.
“Apologies for our youngest, he’s still learning to mind his manners.” Morticia extended a hand out to them. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, I’m Morticia and this is my husband Gomez. We’re Wednesday’s parents.”
Hesitantly, Esther took her hand and shook it. “Likewise, I think. I’m Esther, Enid’s mother, and this is my mate Murray.”
Hands were held out and greetings were exchanged between them.
“So, I heard your daughter is wanting to marry our pup.” Esther started, ignoring the whine coming from her daughter.

Chapter Text
“Our Wednesday is just absolutely smitten with your daughter. We look forward to the day Enid accepts her proposal.” Morticia reached out to pet Enid’s head, smoothing out the loose strands. Enid smiled shyly at the older woman before Wednesday cleared her throat.
Immediately Morticia retracted her hand, giving her daughter a knowing look. “Apologies, my daughter.”
Murray took the opportunity to speak, “We appreciate your daughter’s courtship of our pup.” He shuffled over to put his hand over Enid’s shoulder and gave it a loving squeeze. “And we look forward to getting to know our future in-laws this weekend.”
Enid felt her eyes water at her family's acceptance of her girlfriend. She had spent a lot of these upcoming days dreading their reaction, and there was nothing better than this. But like all good things in Enid’s life, her brothers always seem to make it about themselves.
“Oi mom, Weems said there’s going to be a wolf social in the woods in about 30 minutes. Can we go?” Tobias asked. He was the oldest of Enid’s brothers and the third in command of the school pack.
Esther brightened at the prospect of meeting other wolves. “Of course!” She turned towards the Addams family with a pleased smile. “We must get going, it was nice meeting you all! Why don’t we sit together tomorrow during the family lunch?”
Gomez nodded enthusiastically. “That sounds like a great idea! We will look forward to tomorrow, won’t we Tish?” Morticia smiled at her husband, “Oui, mon chéri” Gomez froze, before bringing her hand up to his lips and kissing it passionately. “Tish… that’s French.”
Morticia gave him a teasing smile. “Oui”
The Sinclair family looked away the moment the couple began their passionate embrace.
Pugsley and Wednesday rolled their eyes. “Please forgive my parents, they do not understand the word restrain,” Wednesday apologized, stepping toward Enid’s parents with a gloved hand.
When did she put that on? Enid wondered.
“It was a pleasure meeting my future in-laws.” Wednesday shook their hands before turning to Enid with a soft look. “I will count down the seconds until we meet again, mi amor.” Enid melted at her words. “I’ll miss you too, Willa. Te amo.” Enid kissed the back of Wednesday’s hand and waved goodbye as her brother Matthew pulled her towards the exit.
As much as Jericho hated the Outcasts community living near them, they sure did reap the benefits. Especially when it came to Parent Weekend, many parents and guardians flooded the town’s hotels and restaurants. The Weathervane, in particular, had a large influx of customers making a line outside the door.
Luckily, they were able to snag a booth once the rush died down.
“Hey, Wednesday. The family’s in town huh?” Tyler greeted her, setting her normal drink in front of her.
“Yes, unfortunately. They have decided to once again torture me with their disgusting display of PDA,” Wednesday replied.
Tyler let out a snort before acknowledging her family. “What can I get you guys?” He asked, taking his notepad out.
“I’ll get an Earl Grey tea, milk on the side please,” Morticia said. Gomez tilted his head quizzically at him. “Does this establishment sell grounded coffee grounds?” Tyler gave him a confused look, meeting Wednesday’s eyes who just sighed.
“My father would like freshly ground coffee beans. Dark roast. In a coffee filter.”
Tyler nodded, lips pressed together in concern while he wrote it down. He was pretty sure he could just punch that in like an espresso shot. He finished jotting down the weird request before looking down at the young boy next to Wednesday.
“Can I just get a spicy hot chocolate?”
Tyler nodded again writing it down before putting his notepad back in the pocket of his apron.
“I’ll get that out for you guys in a jiffy.” He gave them one last smile before turning around and heading to the counter to make their drinks.
“He seems like a nice young man.” Morticia raised an eyebrow at her daughter. Wednesday waved her away, taking a sip from the drink before speaking. “Wipe those thoughts away mother, Enid is the only one my heart beats for. Tyler’s father is the Sheriff and he brings me information regarding the murders happening in town. His father believes he could be a potential murder suspect.”
“Oh poor thing,” Morticia gasped, holding Gomez’s hand.
“He likes you doesn’t he.” Pugsley teased, moving his hand out of the way before Wednesday could stab him.
“He holds affection for me but I do not return it.” Wednesday sneered, reaching over to thug the knife free.
“Even worse, he’s nursing a broken heart!” Gomez cried, standing up. Wednesday felt a headache form. Why was her family so interested in Tyler? What about her beloved? Do they not want to know her favorite drink? Or that she has gotten so much better at fencing that Wednesday believes Enid could beat her father?
“Gomez please sit down,” Morticia chided, tugging him downward. Gomez heeded her words and plunked back down. “Yes, my love.”
“It was nice seeing Enid today, though I wish we could have joined them for their outing.” Morticia sighed.
“Yes, she’s quite a sweet girl. I’m overjoyed that you have found your other half, mija.”
“As am I father,” Wednesday replied, feeling a smile grow on her face.
“Can’t believe you ended up just like mom and dad.” Pugsley snorted.
“Watch your tongue or I’ll cut it for you.” She swung at his head, but Pugsley barely managed to dodge it. While she was quite proud to be openly in love and affectionate with Enid, she refused to be compared to her hormonal parents.
“Aren’t you on your 10th proposal?” He retorted. Wednesday opened her mouth to speak but was cut off. “10th? I thought you two were soulmates or something.” Tyler said, setting down their order on the table. Gomez snatched the grounds and greedily scooped them into his mouth, moaning deliriously at the taste. “Oh, Tish these are exquisite.” He turned towards Tyler. “Where did you procure these grounds? I must get more.”
Tyler gave him a funny look before replying, “Well, we get them from someplace in Columbia. We sell bags of the beans if you want any.”
“We will take all the ones you have!” Gomez declared, hitting the table with his fists. Morticia put her hand on his shoulder. “Dear, we cannot just take all of them, how will they make the coffee?” Gomez deflated a bit. “You’re right, cara mia.”
Tyler glanced over at Wednesday who was just shaking her head at her parents. He licked his lips before clasping his hands to get their attention. “If you want I could just get you a bag and have Wednesday send you one whenever you run out?”
Gomez brightened at the idea. “What a marvelous idea, young man!” He got up and clapped Tyler’s back. “Why don’t you sit down with us and tell us how you know our daughter?” Tyler gulped giving him an uneasy smile, “I would love to sir but my break isn’t for another 20 minutes.” Gomez waved his worry away. “Do not fret! We can wait!” Wednesday facepalmed the moment Tyler walked away.
“So, how have things been faring since our last talk?” Morticia asked, smiling at her daughter.
Wednesday puffed up slightly, “I have been getting better at controlling my powers, and thus far have connected with one of my ancestors.”
Gomez looked intrigued. “Who?”
“I was hoping for mother’s cousin Cinder but have gotten in contact with Goody from your side father.”
Gomez clasped his hands together. “Oh, what an honour!”
“Will I ever get powers like Mom and you, sis?” Pugsley asked, timidly.
Wednesday hummed, drinking her quad thoughtfully. “Possibly, though it could manifest in other ways. Mother’s side of the family is full of all kinds of Psychics and any type of magic could be triggered in our bloodline.”
Pugsley’s eyes brightened at the prospect.
“Speaking of bloodlines,” Morticia teased. Wednesday turned away from her mother hoping to hide a bit of her embarrassment. “Mother, please I already have to fight the curse to move at the pace Enid wants. I cannot handle more.”
“I’m sorry my little death trap but your mother and I can’t wait to see little pups running around. I just know you’ll dread every second of it!” Gomez said.
Wednesday closed her eyes and despite her best couldn’t help but picture Enid and her with a litter of pups to care for. All of which Wednesday would proudly call her spawns. She knew she would dote on them for years to come. If Enid wished for Wednesday to carry them she would. Anything for her beloved.
“Uh, you okay there Wednesday?” Tyler’s voice snapped her out of her daydream. She opened her eyes to see him standing in front of them, minus his apron.
Wednesday cleared her throat, “Yes.”
“Well, I’m off the clock now so if the offer still stands I can sit down-” Tyler yelped when Gomez yanked him down next to him, arm thrown around his shoulder as he began his barrage of questions.
Neither Tyler nor the Addams family noticed a certain Sheriff staring from the other side of the road in disbelief.

Chapter Text
The ride back to campus was quiet, not that Wednesday, and Tyler minded. While initially annoyed at her family’s suffocating kindness towards Tyler, Wednesday was quick to realize that he needed it. He seemed eager to talk to Gomez and was a bit shy towards Morticia, but he continued to talk about himself and how he met Wednesday. He even befriended Pugsley and promised to show him a nice pond to fish in nearby.
When he clocked out of work he offered to drop off Wednesday. She agreed as it would be the fastest way back to Enid.
“Er, your family is was nice.” Tyler drummed his fingers on the steering wheel.
“Quite.”
A beat of silence.
“Wedns, I wanted to ask-”
“If you ask me out again I will stab you.”
“Woah, dude- no.” Tyler immediately cut her off. “I know I’ve been a bit of a sore loser in this whole thing but I promise that was not my intention. I-” He swallowed hard before taking a deep breath. “Look. I know I came on strong and was a huge asshole when I tried forcing our relationship to turn into a romantic one, but I also respect your relationship with Enid.”
Wednesday made an unimpressed noise, leaning against the armrest to look out the window at the passing trees.
“Are you sure it’s that and not the fact that both Enid and I would kill you if you tried?”
“Besides that!” Tyler’s voice cracked at the end making Wednesday smirk.
“Honestly, Tyler you could have just said that.”
“Okay, fine I am scared of both of you,” Tyler admitted as he slowly came to a stop in front of the school and turned his head to look at Wednesday, “I’ve been talking to my therapist and I realized I want to be friends, like actual friends nothing else. If Enid is okay with it of course.”
Wednesday stared at him for a second, “I will talk to Enid.” Tyler gave her a relieved smile before handing her a brown bag. “Here. A peace offering for you and Enid. A couple of pastries from the Weathervane.” Wednesday pursed her lips before taking it.
“Thank you. For the apology and the ride.”
“Not the pastries?”
“No, not the pastries”
Wednesday was ambushed when she stepped into her dorm. “Willa!” Enid eagerly pulled her further into their room, locking the door behind her before falling onto Wednesday’s bed. The seer joined her, climbing onto her wolf’s lap and snaking her arms around Enid’s neck.
“I missed you,” Wednesday whispered, slender fingers brushed against the wolf’s cheek. She sounded dramatic, but Enid knew that Wednesday had felt their separation just as deeply as she did. Just a few hours apart felt like a lifetime to them.
A whine tore from Enid’s throat as she pressed her face against Wednesday’s touch. “I missed you too,” Enid confesses quietly, her voice full of yearning. She had come to love Wednesday fiercely despite the short time together. Yoko would teasingly point out she was just as obsessed with Wednesday as the seer was to Enid. Which became glaringly obvious in the past week, Enid is still smug about it. She had sent a total of 7, classmates to the E.R and caused not just one but three normies to piss their pants. Wednesday hadn’t complained, in fact, she had been quite eager to see Enid in green.
“How was your mother?” Wednesday toyed with the ends of Enid’s dyed hair. She waited patiently, preparing herself for bloodshed if Esther had even so much as insulted her lover.
“She was actually really nice today,” Enid explained, confused. “I- she was asking about you a lot. Didn’t even ask if I wolfed out.” She watched Wednesday’s shoulders relax, it seemed homicide had successfully left her brain. A miracle for some but a normal sight for Enid.
“I’m glad your mother didn’t ruin today for you. I know you were looking forward to seeing your father.”
The blonde hummed in response, pressing a quick kiss on Wednesday’s nose. “What about you, babe? How was everything with your family?” She kept her hands on Wednesday’s waist, nosing the spot behind the goth’s ear. Wednesday gasped slightly at the feeling. “It was pleasant. However, my father has grown fond of Tyler.”
Enid pulled away immediately, a frown on her face. “Tyler?”
Wednesday cupped Enid’s face, kissing her softly. “Do not worry, my love. We happen to have seen him at the Weathervane. Upon finding out his one-sided affection for me my father decided to adopt him. I plan to return him if he does not behave.”
“I trust you, Wednesday,” Enid murmured, pulling Wednesday down to hug her tightly. Her gums itched and her fangs slowly came out. A dark ugly feeling festered in her heart, and her mind was suddenly flooded with possessive thoughts. “I just don’t trust him.” Her teeth dragged softly against Wednesday’s skin, biting softly enjoying the shiver that wracked through Wednesday’s body. “I only have eyes for you, Enid Sinclair.” Wednesday husked. Her left hand urged Enid to continue, a silent plea to bite harder.
Enid complied and soon her teeth tore through flesh.
“I am so sorry!” Enid fussed over Wednesday’s wound, a worried look on her face. Wednesday took Enid’s hands into hers, staring lovingly into the blonde’s eyes. “Do not apologize. I only hope this will scar to serve as a permanent reminder of our love.” Enid shook her head, hiding the red that filled her cheeks. “I shouldn’t be biting you!”
“I would gladly hold your bite marks on me for the rest of our lives, mi vida,” Wednesday breathed, kneeling in front of her girlfriend. Enid hid her burning red face.
“Where did you pull the ring from!?”
Nevermore’s family weekend lunch was going quite well for the Sinclair and Addams families. Various amounts of steak were piled onto plates, with Enid’s portion holding one single piece. Her appetite for meat was much lower than her family’s, something Esther had explained to Enid would increase when she wolfs out. Which Enid had previously thought was just a jab to her lack of transformation, but Wednesday later corrected and pointed out that once a werewolf hits puberty and wolfs out they need the protein to replenish their energy.
Wednesday’s family on the other hand were a mix of preferences, Gomez had found some tacos. Morticia had sushi, while Pugsley had gorged on Bratwurst. Wednesday’s plate was bare, with a bowl of sliced peaches on top of it.
In contrast to her in-laws, the Addams were able to survive on much less food than them. Wednesday side-eyed her father’s stomach as he happily munched into his food.
The seer frequently practiced fasting much like her Aunt Rara, who once told Wednesday she had survived in the desert without food for a month. A lovely honeymoon idea that Wednesday was sure her girlfriend would reject.
“Do you want a piece of my steak?” Enid brought her fork towards Wednesday’s mouth. “Of course, my love.” Wednesday opened her mouth and allowed Enid to feed her. She chewed on the blue rare steak, licking her lips. “Would you like a bit of my food?” Enid nodded enthusiastically. Wednesday set the food on Enid’s plate before turning to chastise Pugsley for dripping sauce on his shirt. Just as Enid was about to dig in herself, the world decided to humble Enid for even thinking she could have a good moment with her family.
“Are you going to make me ask?” Esther asked, jabbing her fork in Enid’s direction. Enid looked up from her food to meet her mother’s eyes. “Uh?” She glanced at Wednesday who quirked an eyebrow at her. “Wednesday and I are taking things slow-”
“Not that,” Esther sighed, frustrated. “Have you wolfed out yet?” Wednesday’s eyes narrowed.
Enid’s heart stung at the familiar question. She swallowed the lump in her throat and flashed her mother a strained smile. “No.”
“Well, that’s a disappointment.” Esther took a bite of her steak, not noticing the tight grip Wednesday had on her knife.
“Esther Sinclair,” Wednesday said, voice dripping in venom. “If I ever hear you speak to Enid like that again I will put you down like the mutt you are.” Esther slammed her hands on the table in outrage. “Who do you think you are!” She met Wednesday’s glare with her own, both parties refusing to back down.
Despite the commotion the other families in attendance ignored them and went on with their conversations, even Weems was still greeting parents (save for the occasional glance). Werewolves were a very physical species, and fights were not uncommon between them.
Just as it looked like they were going to lunge at each other the doors burst open.
“Gomez Addams, you’re under arrest for the murder of Garett Gates.” Sheriff Galpin declared, a smug look on his face as he marched over and handcuffed Wednesday’s father.
The seer barely bit down a snarl at the scene only calming down once Enid held her hand. She met Sheriff Galpin's eyes as he walked out. Her new rug would have to wait, it seemed she had a new skull to add to her collection.

Chapter 9: i'm more than the scars in my back
Chapter Text
Wednesday didn’t spare anyone a glance after the sheriff took her father. She stood up and walked out of the quad without a word. She was determined to clear her father’s name and nothing, not even Esther’s shouts to come back stopped her. Enid followed her dutifully, holding Wednesday’s hand while they ran to fetch Lurch and the family car.
They didn’t speak until they got inside the hearse.
“Baby?” Enid asked, quietly giving Wednesday a worried look. Her girlfriend faltered for a second. “I’m sorry I couldn’t protect your honor, Enid,” Wednesday whispered, squeezing their joint hands. “But I promise that once I have brought justice for my father I will slaughter all those who dare insult you. You are perfect as you are, mi loba.”
Enid fell into Wednesday’s embrace, nosing the seer’s neck. “Please don’t kill my mom, Willa. I am happy enough that you stood up for me, let’s just focus on your dad first.” Wednesday was relieved her girlfriend understood and got back into detective mode.
“You have Tyler’s number right?” Enid blinked, leaning away to look at Wednesday. “Er, yeah? Why- OH!” The wolf connected the dots and quickly whipped out her phone and dialed Tyler who answered after a couple of rings.
“Hello?” His voice was scruffy like he had just woken up.
“Hey Tyler, sorry to bother you but like- your dad just arrested Mr. Addams?”
“What? Why?” He suddenly sounded wide awake.
Enid handed the phone to Wednesday who took it with an angry look in her eyes. She was still fuming at the audacity of the Sheriff. “I haven’t the faintest idea. He marched into the quad and announced his arrest for the murder of Garett Gates and took him in.”
“Garrett Gates?” Tyler paused, and some shuffling was heard before he spoke again. “I remember reading about that case a while back. The guy was a normie and stormed into the Rave’n and tried attacking a student before someone killed him. It was written off as self-defense and the trial was dropped despite Mr. Gates wanting to press murder charges.”
Wednesday pursed her lips. She hadn’t heard of any of this information from her parents. And there was no doubt in her mind that they were the ones the story was about. “Do you know why your father would arrest mine after the court saw him as not guilty?”
“No, but I can sneak into his office and meet you at the Weathervane in 20 minutes.”
“We will be there.” Wednesday hesitated for a second before Enid nudged her gently. “And.. thank you, Tyler.”
She could practically feel him smiling through the phone.
“No problem, Wednesday.” He hung up leaving Wednesday to curl against Enid in silence for the rest of their short drive.
Wednesday felt a mixture of anger and frustration in her chest while she waited for Tyler, and as much as Enid was trying her best to soothe her rage it did little to control the flames in her heart. Her family was in shambles in seconds, Pugsley was devastated, and her mother a wreck. It was up to Wednesday to fix the situation and do what she did best.
Investigate.
It wasn’t long before Tyler walked into the cafe. He was sporting a simple brown shirt and jeans, but his hair was hidden behind a beanie and his hands held a stack of manila folders. He set them down in front of the couple greeting them softly, sending worried looks to Wednesday.
“This is all I could find about the case.”
“It’s better than nothing, have you looked through them yet?” The seer asked.
Tyler shook his head gesturing to his outfit. “I was taking a nap when you called me, I didn’t have much time to get ready since I had to beat my dad to the station. I barely missed him when I left, hopefully, he didn’t see me.”
“Well, we appreciate you risking your ass for Wednesday’s dad,” Enid said. She gave him a grateful smile and he returned it earnestly. “Don’t worry about it. He- he’s a nice guy. I can’t understand why my father thinks he deserves to be in jail.”
“Bigots are bigots, regardless of letting one or two Outcasts into his life,” Wednesday muttered, hands reaching out towards the pile and flipping through them. Tyler grimaced and Enid chastised her girlfriend. “Willa!”
Wednesday tossed a file to the side and looked slightly ashamed. “Apologies, I didn’t mean any harm to your heritage.”
Tyler sighed, waving her away, “It’s okay I know you didn’t mean it that way.”
Wednesday cleared her throat while handing Enid and Tyler some of the files. “The mortician in charge of the case is still alive, and looking over this paperwork I can tell something is off. Lack of DNA on the weapon is not possible, my father is horrible at erasing his tracks. It’s why my grandmama made him burn his fingerprints when he graduated.”
Enid pressed her lips together, “If there’s a lack of new evidence doesn’t that make it an illegal arrest?”
"Double jeopardy," Wednesday realized looking up at Tyler who nodded.
“Yup. That means my dad can’t hold another trial to prosecute him.“ Tyler looked at the mortician’s file one more time. “If only we could have seen the body to confirm how your dad was found not guilty.”
Enid sighed the moment she saw her girlfriend’s eyes light up. “You just had to mention bodies huh Tyler?”
The barista tilted his head in confusion. “Huh?”
“Enid get my shovel from the hearse, we have some digging to do.” Wednesday had a maniac smile on her face at the turn of events. This was just what she needed to bring her mood up.
“Yes, dear.” Enid couldn’t deny her girlfriend, especially when she looked so excited and cute.
“Are you sure you don’t want to join?” Wednesday asked, a small smile on her lips as she stopped digging to look up at Tyler and Enid. She had been digging for about 20 minutes now, which was slower than her normal time. She mentally noted to practice her grave digging with Puglsey this summer. Anything more than 10 minutes was unacceptable.
Tyler and Enid shared a look before flashing Wednesday a smile, “Er- we’ll pass babe,” Enid said, a forced smile on her face.
“Wouldn’t want to ruin your fun!” Tyler added.
Wednesday smirked, shrugging her shoulders before continuing her fun. Enid was mentally screaming at how cute Wednesday looked and a glance at Tyler hiding his face told her that he was thinking the same. She couldn’t fault him, her girlfriend was so goddamn cute.
A hard thunk caused them to look back down at Wednesday who was quick to swipe the dirt off the casket.
Garrett Gates
1972 - 1990
“Moment of truth,” Wednesday whispered. She reached over and opened it, inhaling the smell of decay and death fondly. Behind her Tyler and Enid gagged at the smell, holding their noses. “Do you see anything?” Enid asked, wincing at the horrid smell.
“I think my father is innocent,” Wednesday said, sounding surprised. “There are obvious signs of-”
“Well well, what do we have here?” All three teens flinched at the sudden flood of light in their eyes.
“Thank you for paying our bail, mother,” Wednesday said, sincerely. They had spent the night in jail, and luckily Tyler’s dad hadn’t found out either thanks to Wednesday threatening Deputy Santiago’s cat. Instead, the Deputy offered to call Wednesday’s mother, who was quick to pick them up the next morning.
“Thank you, Mrs. Addams!”
“Thank you, ma’am!”
“Of course, what kind of mother would I be if I let all my little ducklings do time,” Morticia replied. Despite her husband’s arrest she still looked well put together. However, Wednesday saw the slight red of her mother’s eyes and deduced she had been crying most of the night before. “Mother, we have found evidence of Father’s innocence.” Wednesday handed her mother something wrapped in cloth and watched as her mother’s mouth dropped in disbelief, tears welling back in her eyes.
Needless to say, her father was out of jail by the end of the day and Sheriff Galpin was under paid leave pending investigation.

Chapter Text
“Why is she here?” Esther pointed a clawed finger at Wednesday causing the seer’s scowl to deepen. She willed herself to calm down, remembering the promise she made to her girlfriend.
Her father’s name was clear, and despite wanting to break every bone in Esther’s body she was sitting across from the matriarch with her hand held in an iron grip by Enid. The same hand that was inches away from the only dagger Enid let her bring.
“Mom, please. Wednesday is my girlfriend, and she's here to support me.”
Esther looked like she wanted to argue but held her tongue. “Fine,” Esther said, rubbing her temple as if Enid was being the unreasonable one. “Look, Enid. I wanted to talk to you about you wolfing out- ”
“Lack of more like it,” Enid said, bitterly. Wednesday gave her hand a light squeeze in support, squashing the murderous rage that bubbled under her skin. Enid had already begged her this morning to spare her mother.
“Enid,” Esther snapped, patience running out towards her pup’s sarcasm.
“What? It's the truth, isn't it? Aren't you ashamed of me Mom?” There was a slight crack at the end of Enid’s voice, tears forming rapidly in her eyes. Wednesday immediately took to wiping them away with her spare handkerchief, receiving a grateful smile from the wolf.
“Ashamed? Enid, I'm worried about you. It's not healthy for a wolf to not wolf out.” Esther’s hair started to puff up as she got worked up. Enid grasped Wednesday’s right arm the moment she felt the seer flex her fingers. “Wednesday, no,” Enid whispered, trying to get the other girl to calm down.
“She has disrespected you far too long, Enid.” Wednesday bit back, voice lowered as to keep her attack a secret.
“That doesn’t mean I want you to kill her!”
“What if I lightly maim her?”
“No!”
“...Fine.”
They stared at each other for a bit before Enid finally felt confident that Wednesday wouldn’t try doing anything again and let her go.
Wednesday cleared her throat, “Apologies, I hope you understand the protective instinct to protect one's mate.”
Murray nodded silently behind his wife who scoffed clearly not understanding the situation that her daughter had defused.
Wednesday sent Esther another glare before continuing, “I believe you only want what’s best for Enid, am I correct?”
Esther looked offended. “Of course! Why else would I push so hard for her to wolf-”
“Let me make this clear to you. Regardless of the right intentions, your constant pressure has, in reality, forced Enid not to shift.”
Esther sputtered. “How dare you!?-”
“While I am not a wolf, I have some in my family. They have responded to my inquiries quite eagerly and rightfully concerned. They claim that your lack of support and safe space has caused Enid’s struggle to wolf out.”
“I have supported and loved her!” Esther slammed her hands on the table angrily, leaning across the table only for her to fall back when a growl ripped out of Enid’s throat. Despite being the head of the pack, Esther couldn’t help but swallow down the urge to submit. Enid’s eyes were glowing yellow, and if she didn’t know any better she would have thought her daughter was close to shifting. Even her smell was overwhelming to her and she fought the urge to cover her nose.
“For your sons.” Wednesday corrected, clearing her throat with a slight flush to her cheeks. “Enid has had to learn to be a wolf alone. How can you call yourself a mother when you’ve done nothing but make your daughter feel like she’s a failure because of something she cannot control?”
“I know she can’t control it!” Esther shouted causing everyone to blink at her in surprise. The elder wolf deflated at their reactions.
She took out an envelope and hesitated before handing it to Enid. “What is this?” Enid asked, opening it and taking out various wolf camp pamphlets.
“All I want is the very best for you, Enid-”
“Lycan camp?” Enid whispered harshly, crumpling the brochures in her hand. Wednesday’s eyes narrowed, moving between the pamphlets Enid’s hand, and Esther’s face.
“It worked wonders for your Cousin Lucile,” Esther explained, a little desperate as she began to notice her pup was starting to get angry. “Seven weeks in the Balkan countryside and she was howling at the moon in no time.”
Murray tried tugging at his mate's sleeve but she continued, “Don’t you want to wolf out and finally be normal, honey?”
Before Enid met Wednesday she would have already stomped off at this point. But after learning from her girlfriend that she was worth so much more than her inability to wolf out she straightened her back and took a deep breath before smiling.
“If I’m meant to wolf out, then I’m going to do it on my own timeline- not yours.”
Esther looked torn at her words while Murray gave her a reassuring smile. Sensing the shift in pack dynamics Wednesday abruptly stood up.
“Wednesday?” Enid asked, confused.
“I believe it might be best for me to leave for the rest of your conversation.” Enid frowned slightly before nodding. “I’ll see you later?” Enid asked, tentatively reaching out to hold her hands. Her eyes looked up at Wednesday adoringly and Wednesday found herself kissing her briefly.
“Of course, querida.” Wednesday gave Enid a small smile causing her heart to melt at the sight. She waved goodbye to Enid until she turned a corner.
Enid felt her cheeks flush at her mother’s awkward cough. “Sorry, but um- let’s talk somewhere more private?”
Wednesday found Bianca on the second floor, leaning against the railing overlooking the quad. A glance into the courtyard confirmed that Enid was leaving with her parents.
She waited until she was an arm's length behind Bianca to announce her presence.
“You look quite pale, and while I normally cherish the lack of color in people’s faces I find it does not quite fit you.”
Bianca jumped at her sudden arrival but merely scoffed. “Careful, Addams. Wouldn’t want Enid thinking you’re flirting with me.”
Wednesday waved her away. “Enid knows my love for her is limitless and unconditional. I have room for no one else in my heart.” Bianca’s face softened slightly. “So what brings you here? I’d thought you’d be with your future in-laws all weekend after you cleared your dad’s name.”
Wednesday scowled at the mention of Enid’s birthgivers. “They are currently talking over their shortcomings in raising Enid. I have chosen to leave them alone. Enid does not wish for me to add two more charges to my list of crimes.”
“Ah yes, thank the sea goddess she has you on such a short leash.”
“Woof,” Wednesday deadpanned, a slight tug at the corner of her mouth.
Bianca let out a snort, looking down at the shorter girl with a smug look. “So dog, what do you need from me?”
Notes:
Ooof-
Firstly, yes it's been 2 months since my last update. Do I have a valid excuse? No, not really. I've been working, health issues are being addressed (nothing big just a low immune system), and struggling with maybe having ADHD?? I kept trying to write some things, and one night I did. But like always I was not feeling it and left it on the backburner. Ya'll will see the drafted version later I am planning on playing phasmophobia in a bit.
Secondly, I must shamelessly plug two of my writing friends. @maevax does sinfully amazing work. Deadass bro licking the good soup off the floor. @ANGELAMOUR is a IRL friend of mine who is just obsessed with her Harry Potter fic. It's so good please give her some love and support if yall are into HP!
Lastly, please be honest with what yall think of the fic. I feel like I'm writing different stories every time. I am hoping to write another chapter later this fic, just depends. I will either continue with the ending scene of this chapter or just jump right into Wednesday's birthday. Please comment on what you would prefer!

Chapter Text
Like the rest of her family, communicating with the dead was engrained into Wednesday’s mind. While Wednesday was an Addams, she was also a Frump. They were a long line of powerful psychics who still practiced mediumship. Not only was it convenient to chat with an old relative, but it also allowed them to keep family secrets alive for generations.
Wednesday held out her necklace, arm outstretched, whispering Latin under her breath, brows knitted in deep focus. She was thankful for her mother’s parting gift was an obsidian necklace. They were used in age old practices to communicate with the dead. Wednesday treasured it, wearing it day and night. Enid had grown fond of toying with the ‘W’, fingers tracing the smooth material while they cuddled.
She struggled to concentrate after the hour mark, swallowing harshly at the bitter taste of another failure when she suddenly felt a shiver travel down her back. She held her breath, forcing herself to relax to entice the spirit by feigning weakness. Before it could fully manifest the door swung open, the force causing the candles around her to blow out.
She made a frustrated sound, turning around to see who had barged into her room.
The moment she saw her perfectly ethereal girlfriend she got up and brought their hands together greeting her with a kiss.
“Enid,” she breathed, looking at her with adoration. Enid for her part looked guilty.
“Sorry! I totes forgot you told me that you’d be holding the seance until seven.” Enid rubbed their noses together, giving Wednesday her best puppy eyes.
“Do not fret, querida. I was getting frustrated with the lack of contact.”
Enid hummed eyes focused on Wednesday’s outfit.
“Babe you look delish in this,” Enid rumbled. Her tongue peeked out, eyes flashing yellow as her hands began to smooth down the sides of Wednesday’s waist, gripping tightly to pull her flush against her. Wednesday felt a different kind of shiver down her back at the action.
“Enid,” Wednesday whispered, arms snaking over Enid’s neck. “You’re frightening me.”
Enid nipped at Wednesday’s jaw. “Good.”
They didn’t break away from each other until the 10th call in a row from Yoko.
“Shoot we’re late to your birthday party!” Enid exclaimed. She wiped her mouth with her sleeve, giggling at the black lipstick stain. “Can’t we just skip it?” Wednesday murmured.
The seer caught Enid’s wrist, pressing a kiss on her palm, before pulling her closer.
“No! Now c’mon, or Yoko will call me a simp.”
Midnight strolls were some of Wednesday’s favorite pastimes, not counting grave digging, bank heist, and spending time with her beloved.
“This reminds me of our first outing,” Wednesday remarked. She looked up at the sky for a bit before smiling at Enid. “You were breathtaking.”
“I was trembling in fear, Willa. I don’t think there’s anything breathtaking about that.” Enid rolled her eyes, squeezing her girlfriend's hand. “Now c’mon everyone is waiting for us.”
“I was not the one who stuck their tongue-”
“Willa!” Enid’s face flushed red.
Despite arriving 15 minutes late not everyone had shown up. Yoko and Divina were still setting up some last-minute decorations, blaming the state of the crypt.
“I swear E, I think someone was setting up some kind of ritual here. Took forever to scrub the chalk off the floor.”
Enid found it hard to believe that was the only reason. Wednesday silently offered Divina her handkerchief, gesturing towards the lipstick stain on the siren’s neck. Divina took it with an embarrassed look on her face.
When Enid texted Ajax asking where he was, the gorgon informed them that he was struggling to convince Kent not to buy a rainbow cake. Tyler hadn’t arrived yet either. However, that was a given as he had to sneak out of his house. No one wanted Sheriff Galpin to break up the secret party held at Crackstone’s crypt.
“Happy birthday, Addams,” Bianca greeted. She was leaning against one of the walls further into the room.
“I appreciate your misplaced well wishes, however my family and I partake in ‘miserable’ birthdays.” Wednesday didn’t meet her gaze, eyes narrowing at the boy standing next to Bianca.
Bianca snorted, cocking an eyebrow before lightly nudging the boy. “Go on, introduce yourself.”
“Hey! I’m sure you remember me I’m-”
“Lucas Walker,” Wednesday finished, glaring daggers at him.
“Yeah that’s me…” he trailed off before clearing his throat. Bianca could feel his body shaking in fear, and by the grin on Wednesday’s face, she noticed it too.
“I hope you don’t mind, he’s turning over a new leaf,” Bianca explained, putting her hand on his chest, successfully calming him down.
“I find that hard to believe, Barclay,” Wednesday deadpanned.
“If you can have your rehabilitated bigot I can have mine,” Bianca replied, raising an eyebrow.
Enid put a hand on Wednesday’s shoulder when she saw the familiar twitch of her right arm. That was a clear indication of her girlfriend wanting to stab someone. “C’mon Willa, let’s have some faith in him. Tyler did change! And I doubt Bianca would entertain him if he was a liar.”
Wednesday’s jaw tensed before she gave a stiff nod. Bianca waved them goodbye after that, with Lucas in tow, claiming she wanted to catch up with Divina before she got stuck sucking faces with Yoko again.
Enid hugged Wednesday from behind, arms circling her waist, face pressed against Wednesday’s neck. “You okay, babycheeks?”
“Of course, I have you by my side, mi cielo.” Wednesday turned around in Enid’s embrace, facing her wolf. She gently cupped Enid’s face with her hand, stretching upwards to kiss her.
“Miserable birthday, Wednesday!” A familiar voice broke the romantic air surrounding them.
A snarl escaped Enid before she slapped her mouth shut in embarrassment. Wednesday calmed her beating heart at the sound.
“You’ve got to stop interrupting us, Tyler,” Wednesday said, taking her time to untangle herself from Enid’s embrace. “I don’t believe I can stop Enid next time.”
“Eh, no promises.” Tyler shrugged before handing Wednesday her gift. “Here, I got this case from my dad’s unsolved files. Figured you’d have fun with this one a bit more since you’re out of leads for the killer.”
Wednesday scowled at the indirect jab at her lack of leads but took the gift. “Thank you, Tyler.”
He smiled, “No probs, roach.” Wednesday sighed. She did warn him. She let a wicked grin spread on her face at his pained cry. He never even got the chance to dodge Enid’s fist.
“Yo E, why’d you do my boy Tyler like that,” Ajax asked, plopping down next to Kent and Lucas on the floor. They brought a bunch of blankets and pillows to lay down on the floor, bowls of food strewn around the middle with drinks dunked in ice. Wednesday sat on Enid’s lap, facing the wolf with a lovesick look.
“He knows what he did,” Enid grumbled, opening her mouth for Wednesday to hand-feed her a piece of fruit. “Wednesday’s my mate.” The last part was said as a whine, causing Wednesday to caress her face and reassure her lover that she was hers.
“Yeah, don’t stress it Ajax. That was my fault. I teased her way too much.” Tyler sighed, pressing the ice back to his eye. “Not looking forward to my dad seeing me like this.”
“Next time he won’t have anything to see,” Enid snarked.
“Simp,” Yoko said. Unlike Tyler, she managed to dodge the werewolf’s attack.
Ajax did manage to convince Kent not to buy the rainbow cake. Instead, the boys revealed a simple black and white forest cake from the bakery. Enid was still swooning at the photos Lucas managed to take for them. Wednesday’s dimples were on full display, and seeing her smiling whilst surrounded by their friends - Enid’s pack - was heartwarming.
The party was winding down when Xavier walked into the crypt.
“No invite huh?” he scoffed, stopping in front of them, hands in his pockets. His lips were pressed tightly together as he looked between Wednesday and Bianca.
“Thorpe,” Wednesday scowled. She didn't get up from her spot next to Enid, instead choosing to feed her girlfriend another piece of cake. Enid happily munched on it, licking her lips between bites.
“So what, she comes in and all of you guys suddenly forget I’m part of the group?” Xavier’s voice started to rise. Wednesday felt a spike of irritation at the same time she heard the telltale sound of Enid’s growing growl.
Before hell could break loose, Ajax stood up with his hands in the air, walking towards the other psychic as if he were a frightened animal. “Xav, buddy c’mon let’s not do this.”
“Don’t,” Xavier warned, lips pulling back to a snarl.
He smacked Ajax’s hand the moment he tried to push him back.
“It’s not our call who gets invited. This is Wednesday’s birthday, and if she doesn’t wanna invite you we gotta respect that.”
“I’ve known Wednesday since we were kids! If anything I think it was Enid who convinced her not to invite me!” Xavier shouted, taking a step forward toward Enid and Wednesday.
“If you take one more step towards us, I will put you six feet under, Thorpe.” Wednesday threatened, brandishing her newly gifted karambit. Turns out Yoko was a great gift-giver.
Xavier let out a sound of disbelief before walking backward with a calculating look. ‘Fine, but you’ll come to regret it.” He gave them one last hard stare before dredging up the stairs. “Can’t believe you guys replaced me with Galpin and Walker after what they did to me, to people like us."
Lucas scratched the back of his neck awkwardly. Tyler looked guiltily but was interrupted before he could speak.
“He’s proved to me that he’s changed, you’ve yet to do the same.” Wednesday threw a dagger at Xavier, letting it knick his face. The threat of violence finally made Xavier walk out. The group fell silent once he left, inwardly getting ready to head out at the sour note.
“Er, was I that bad?” Lucas broke the tension causing Bianca to snort. “Yeah, but far more good-looking.” Yoko threw a chip at her. “Bianca, babe, you have the worst taste out of all of us!”
Wednesday later admitted to her parents that night that it was one of the most miserable birthdays ever.
Torture. That was the only way to describe the coffee in front of her. Wednesday cursed Tyler for calling in today. If she had known beforehand she would have scheduled this outing for another day. Now she was stuck with a sweet, lukewarm quad.
“I can’t believe you actually agreed to a double date with Bianca and Lucas!”
Wednesday brushed her fingers against Enid’s cheek causing the blonde to break into a dazzling smile. Oh, how Wednesday would burn the world for her.
“Whatever you ask for I will grant it,” she confessed, truthfully.
“Hey, sorry for running late.” Bianca scooted into the booth with Lucas following behind her. Wednesday hated to admit it but they were a good-looking couple.
“No worries, B!” Enid chirped, pulling away from Wednesday to turn to look at the other two.
Enid and Bianca were chatting animatedly about the latest Nevermore gossip, allowing Wednesday the time to observe Lucas.
He was following along the girl’s conversation, nodding politely and with an easygoing smile. He tended to focus his attention on Bianca but would grimace when he noticed the seer looking at him. Inwardly she grinned at his reaction. His previous run-in with her had cemented his newfound rehabilitation. Not many would forget the sensation of humiliation and helplessness.
Wednesday wondered if he truly changed and if it would stick after Bianca’s mission succeeded.
“I need you to date Lucas Walker.”
Bianca held up one hand and pinched her nose with the other. “I’m sorry, I don’t think I heard you right. Did you just say you want me to date Lucas Walker? Mr. I hate outcast? The one who bullies Eugene Ottinger?”
Wednesday frowned. This was the second time he had heard of that boy’s name.
“Yes, that exact one.”
“Why?”
“He has access to the unedited police reports. I need to get my hands on it, and what better way than to have an outcast girlfriend ask him to nick his father’s files to impress her.”
Bianca’s jaw flexed, lips pressed tightly together before she sighed. “Fine. But you better pay my bail if this fails.”
“Who said this was for free?” Wednesday handed Bianca an envelope. Curiously, the siren opened it and froze.
“You’ve got a deal, Addams.” They shook hands before parting.
“Lucas,” Wednesday cleared her throat, catching his attention, “I heard you’re on the football team. Why don’t you tell me what that’s like?”
The boy seemed to puff up in pride. “We’ll as the running back I’m in charge of getting the ball across the end of the field...”

Chapter Text
Wednesday gazed out the car window, lost in thought. She convinced Weems, with the help of Enid, of course, to let her come home for the weekend. After multiple attempts to reach Goody, she admitted defeat and decided to go home and ask her mother for help. While her mother was a dove, she was still an incredibly powerful seer. There was without a doubt in her mind her mother could figure something out.
A groan from behind the divider pulled her out of her thoughts.
“Thank you, Lurch.”
“Mhhghh.”
Wednesday’s hand barely grazed the front door before it burst open.
“Mi tormenta!” Her father sprung forward, sweeping her in his arms. “Oh, how I missed your deathly presence.”
“Father." Her arms were firmly against her sides, waiting for her father to fill his personal affection meter. “I assume Mother told you I would be arriving?”
Gomez gave her one last rib-breaking hug before letting her down on the ground. “Your mother knew of your arrival just an hour ago. Come! She is waiting for you in the drawing room.”
Her mother used all of the Frump family resources to help, and it wasn’t until Sunday evening that her neck snapped backward and her eyes rolled back.
A soft feminine voice whispered in her mind. “Crackstone is coming.”
Wednesday felt the world shift beneath her before she opened her eyes. “Crackstone is coming.” The voice sounded closer, firmer even. Wednesday sat up, eyes shifting to look around for the voice before it fell upon metal gates and noticed a white-haired woman standing behind them.
“Goody,” Wednesday breathed out.
“You’re the raven in my bloodline,” Goody said, somberly.
Wednesday watched her disappear, turning to look to her left to find Goody standing there.
“I was told you could teach me how to control my ability.”
“There is no controlling a raging river. You must learn to navigate it without drowning.”
Goody pointed to the gates. “To stop Crackstone this is the place you must seek.”
“Do you always speak in riddles?” Wednesday asked, annoyed at the vague help.
“Do you always seek simple answers?”
Wednesday kept her mouth shut, feeling her ears burn at Goody’s remark. “The wolf,” Goody started, causing Wednesday to snap to attention, “If you truly love her you must let her go.”
“Never,” Wednesday whispered, harshly.
Goody looked remorseful at her reaction. “The path of a raven is a solitary one. You end up alone, unable to trust others, only seeing the darkness within them.” She paused, looking up at the moon. “Those few in pure intentions will face death.”
“Is that supposed to scare me?”
“It should terrify you,” Goody said, simply. She took a step forward, eyes sunken, blood flowing down her mouth. “Now you must go, your body cannot hold your soul any longer if you stay.”
Wednesday woke with a gasp, lurching forward before gently being pushed back down.
“Did you find the answers you seek?” Her mother asked, abstinently stroking her hair in the rare instance her daughter let her.
“She brought more questions rather than answers.”
“I missed you so much, baby.” Enid rubbed her cheek against Wednesday’s face and neck. Her arms tightened against her girlfriend’s waist.
“And I ached for you so, mi vida.” Wednesday returned the death grip, letting out a lovesick sigh.
“Were you able to reach Goody?” Enid asked voice muffled behind Wednesday’s hair.
“I was successful, however, I find her parting words are still lingering in my mind.”
Enid pulled away a bit, sliding her arms down from Wednesday’s shoulders to her waist, keeping their hips close. “You wanna talk about it?” she asked softly.
Wednesday hesitated. “Goody said that ravens are destined to live a solitary path and that our relationship will not last.”
Enid frowned. After a couple of seconds Wednesday spoke slowly, “She said that your life would be at risk if you were to stay with me.” The seer’s eyes looked haunted at the mere idea of Enid’s death. “I do not wish to lose you, Enid. Not after knowing how your hand feels mine, how your lips are softer than silk, or how your embraces fill me with warmth.” Wednesday’s throat felt dry. “My life would be meaningless without you.”
“I won’t die,” Enid said, firmly. Wednesday met her eyes. “How can you be so sure, Enid? What if-,”
“You wouldn’t let it happen. Just like I won’t let you die.” Enid’s eyes flashed yellow. “I won’t hesitate to kill for you, Wednesday.”
“Enid,” Wednesday murmured, cheeks flushed red. Suddenly her mind was clouded with her love for Enid. Her heart felt like it was going to burst. How could she doubt their love? Nothing would stop her, or her wolf. If death fell either of them there is no doubt in her heart that they would find a way to overcome it, if only to feel each other’s touch for a second.
Wednesday knew she needed to make it up to her.
“Please, Enid Sinclair, will you marry me?” Wednesday begged, falling further into the blonde’s arms. Similarly to Wednesday, Enid’s mind was infested with the seer. Something deep in her chest burned, and as if her tongue was laced with oil the words slipped right out.
“Yes,” Enid whispered, leaning down to kiss her fiance.
Wednesday was blissful. She took every opportunity to hold Enid’s left hand and bring it up to her lips to kiss. If that didn’t get their classmate's attention, Enid’s Instagram post showing off the ring did the trick. Yoko was the loudest fan, making whip noises towards them all day. Wednesday let her live, it wouldn’t be good to kill Enid’s maid of honor.
“Hey Wednesday, wait up!” Xavier jogged over to her. Wednesday frowned but didn’t slow down. She refused to be late to fencing practice, knowing it would look bad for the team captain to do so. “Congrats on your engagement,” he said. He tried catching her eyes but was unable to when she sped up. “I know I was kind of a dick on your birthday, but I was just having a bad day...”
“Are we on speaking terms again?”
“Well, I’m talking to you aren’t I?” He scoffed.
Wednesday came to a stop to glare at him. “While I do appreciate your well wishes, I do not desire this conversation to continue.” He stared back at her until she broke eye contact and continued to walk down the hall.
“I’ve been having visions,” he shouted behind her. Wednesday froze, turning around with her hands in fists. “Explain,” she demanded.
“I’ve been having visions,” he repeated walking closer, “and I think they have something to do with the murders. I know you’ve been investigating and thought my drawings could help.”
Strange how he hadn’t shown them to the Sheriff’s office. Wednesday studied him. “I will meet you at your shed after practice.
He looked smug at her words, but it was quickly wiped out by the next thing she said.
“If the portrait of me isn’t trashed by the time I get there I will burn the whole shed down myself.”
Wednesday was waiting outside Xavier’s shed exactly nine minutes after practice ended. He was surprised when he let her in to see she was still in her fencing uniform.
“This will not take long, now pray tell what kind of visions you’ve been having.” She hid her face in her arm when she passed him. The smell of his cologne was overwhelming, along with the grating music playing on his radio.
He cleared his throat before gesturing to his paintings. Wednesday came closer to inspect them.
All of them depicted the same person. Long wavy hair fell past their shoulders, with an umbrella in one hand and a knife in the other. Unfortunately, none of them showed the figure's face.
“For some reason, I can never see their face. No matter how many times it’s chasing me when I look back it’s like nothing’s there.” He tied his hair up and showed Wednesday the shallow cut running across the side of his neck. “I came here after an intense dream and started drawing but I couldn’t control my powers and suddenly the dude slashed me.”
Wednesday’s attention fell on a charcoal sketch. “When did you draw this one?” She brushed her fingers along the lines.
“A couple of days ago, around when you left to go home.”
“Was the killer in them? She asked.
“No, but I could feel it in the shadows, like it was lurking in the back of my mind.” Xavier tapped his thumb against the side of his head.
“You know where this is?”
“The old gates mansion, I pass it when I go running. Why? Wait, where are you going? Wednesday!”
Wednesday ignored his question and left despite his shouting.

Chapter Text
“You want to go to the Gates mansion?” Enid repeated, watching as Wednesday slipped on her oversized white button-up, her hair still damp from her shower.
“I believe all the answers needed for this investigation will be there,” Wednesday said, brushing through her hair. “My vision pointed towards it, and now Xavier’s have as well. Something is warning us, Enid.”
Enid fell back on her bed, rubbing her eyes with the palms of her hands. “Do we have to go right now? I don’t think we can both sneak out past Weems’ new security measures.”
She moved her hands to Wednesday’s waist just as Wednesday straddled her, raising an eyebrow in amusement.
“Not that I’m complaining, babycakes, but this is quite bold of you,” Enid teased, sitting up slightly.
“While I do desire you carnally, mi amor,” Wednesday said, tone flat and sincere, “I also find myself wanting your warmth. Xavier’s presence, while helpful, left a bitter taste in my mouth.”
The seer’s hands ghosted over the hem of Enid’s shirt before gripping it and pulling her into a kiss.
Enid hummed into it, pleased, her hands squeezing Wednesday’s waist just slightly harder than usual—enough to make her fiancée moan. They kissed for a long, slow moment, until the sound of the school’s werewolves howling in the distance pulled Enid’s attention.
“Wait!” she gasped, pulling away. “What if I lie and tell Weems I’m about to wolf out? Then she’d have to give us a pass to the lupin cages!”
Wednesday inhaled sharply, eyes darkening as she looked at her fiancée. “My deviousness has rubbed off on you.”
Before she could close the distance between them again, Enid had already pushed her off and darted toward her dresser.
“Wait!” she shouted. “We should wear our snoods!”
Wednesday felt her stomach drop, “Oh, mi amor. I believe I left mine with Xavier.”
The sheer terror that ran through Wednesday’s body when Enid turned around—holding both snoods in her hands—could have brought entire armies to their knees.
“Actually, you left yours at fencing,” Enid corrected, crawling back over to Wednesday to drape it over Wednesday’s head and shoulders. “Luckily, Bianca brought it back.”
Wednesday met Enid’s delighted smile with her strained one. “Like a monkey’s paw.”
They snuck into the Gates mansion without issues, taking multiple jars of evidence and dropping them off at the Sheriff’s office. The name Laurel became a new lead in Wednesday’s investigation.
“You’re telling me the Sheriff’s department lost the evidence?” Bianca asked, incredulous.
Wednesday huffed, arms crossed. Inwardly, she was seething in anger. Jericho’s finest were starting to grate her nerves at its complete lack of professionalism. After handing them evidence on a silver platter, she couldn’t believe they had the audacity to misplace it.
“Tyler has been out of the loop regarding police chatter since his father was fired,” she replied coldly. “So I’ve been forced to send Thing out to investigate. He claims the jars are no longer in the evidence locker.”
Bianca sighed. “And now you want me to ask Lucas if his dad knows something.”
“Naturally.” Wednesday slid a black envelope towards the siren. “And if you’re feeling guilty, stop. Lucas was a bigot long before he met you. Despite his recent change of heart, he still has a long road to redemption.”
Neither of them brought up Tyler’s new place in their group.
Bianca stared at the envelope for a moment before reaching over and slipping it into her pocket. “Of course, Wednesday.”
They had barely stepped out of the Weathervane when Mayor Walker’s body hit the pavement with a sickening crack, accompanied by the screech of tires and the smell of burnt rubber hanging in the air.
The funeral, in Wednesday’s opinion, was delightfully dreadful.
Addams family funerals were full of celebration and twisted joy. She had fond memories of the many send-offs her family had at their home. Endless dancing, music, and food. Wednesday could still taste the lead-laced wine from Aunt Parole’s farewell.
But she kept the thought to herself and watched as the town mourned their mayor. She cast a sideways glance to Lucas, who was standing between his mother and Bianca. Both women were holding his hands, their faces drawn and tense.
Her eyes drifted to Xavier. He was watching her. He didn’t say anything, nor show any emotion. After a moment, he turned away. From a distance, Wednesday thought she saw a mark on his neck, but couldn’t be sure.
Enid’s grip tightened around her hand. She leaned in and whispered, “Who’s the man behind the trees? He’s been watching us for a while now.”
“My uncle,” Wednesday said calmly. “He’ll follow us back to the dorm. I’ll introduce you. Mother said he’s had run-ins with the law and needs somewhere to lie low.”
Enid stared at her. “There are so many things wrong with what you just said.”
Wednesday brought their joined hands to her lips, kissing the ring on Enid’s finger. “I doubt it’s surprising at this point.”
Uncle Fester, like the rest of his family, was an enigma.
He was friendly. Unnervingly so. Enid had the distinct feeling she’d be roped into some kind of crime if she asked too many questions. He skipped around their dorm like a madman, giggling at the stark contrast between Wednesday’s side and Enid’s.
Wednesday was smiling, and while Enid was very familiar with the image, there was something different about the way she looked at her uncle. Wednesday looked at her like she hung the stars—and she made that very vocal. But as Enid continued to watch her fiancée animatedly talk to her uncle, she saw the absolute child in Wednesday shine through. She blinked away the image of a much younger Wednesday looking up at Uncle Fester, hands gripping the edge of his coat with sparkling adoration.
Wednesday’s mother had once mentioned how close she was to her uncle—so close that Gomez foamed at the mouth, green with jealousy. Enid hadn’t believed it. Not until now.
“So, my dear niece,” Uncle Fester said, “got anything new going on? Other than the fiancée. Congrats, my little protégé—I wish you a miserable matrimony.”
Wednesday beamed with pride. “Thank you, Uncle Fester. I’m already quite miserable with Enid.”
Enid felt her ears burn at the reminder they were engaged, looking down at her and Wednesday’s joint hands.
“I also heard you adopted a Hyde,” Fester said, rubbing his hands together. “I commend your choice. They’re hard to come by—and only a next-level sicko would even think about keeping one as a pet.”
Wednesday and Enid exchanged a look.
“Um… that’s not quite right,” Enid said, clearing her throat.
“Tyler is a friend,” she explained. “His mom was a Hyde, but his dad’s a normie. He hasn’t shown any signs of turning into a Hyde.”
Uncle Fester frowned, rubbing his chin. “Not possible. Hyde DNA is too dominant.”
Wednesday took a step forward, dropping Enid’s hand, her eyes lighting up with interest. “Are you knowledgeable about Hydes?”
Fester grinned down at her. “Not quite. But I do know of a book in the Nightshade Library you could nick.”
“Perfect,” Wednesday breathed, already plotting. Enid felt a headache start to form.
She texted the group chat to stay out of the Nightshade Library that night. The last thing she needed was for one of them to stumble into a wanted criminal and accidentally become a conspirator. Not that she was worried about her own involvement. If she was going to be an Addams, this would soon be her new normal.
After all, Wednesday was wanted in three countries. And Hawaii.
“How did you find this book?” Wednesday asked, watching as Fester removed a picture frame from the wall to reveal a safe.
“Oh, you know,” he said casually, “I was on the run when your dad was at Nevermore. I crashed in his dorm for a bit. He was... preoccupied with your mother—”
“I did not need to know that,” Wednesday muttered. Enid gave her a sympathetic look.
“Anyway,” Fester continued, unfazed, “he told me to settle in for a long stretch. That’s when I found this nifty little safe. I was hoping for cash or jewels, but instead, I found a diary…”
With a quiet click, the safe opened. He handed the book to Wednesday, who flipped it open and quickly found a page on Hydes.
Enid leaned over her shoulder, eyes studying the sketched images. The creature was taller and bulkier than the werewolves she’d grown up with, with bulging eyes, razor-sharp teeth, and claws thicker than her arms. Something inside Enid's stomach twisted, and she fought from snarling.
Wednesday’s fingers traced the text.
“Faulkner describes Hydes as artists by nature, but equally vindictive in temperament. Born of mutation, the Hyde lays dormant until unleashed by a traumatic event or unlocked through chemical inducement or hypnosis. This causes the Hyde to develop an immediate bond with its liberator, who the creature now sees as its master. It becomes the willing instrument of whatever nefarious agenda this new master might propose.”
She frowned, closing the book slightly. “Uncle Fester, where did you get the information about Hyde DNA being a dominant trait?”
He peeked over her shoulder, then clicked his tongue. “Ah, wrong page. Let me just—” He flipped through until he landed on another section. “Here we go. It's under the 'mixed tribes' entry.”
Wednesday muttered a thanks, minding her manners in front of Enid, and began to read aloud.
“Hidden deep in the Amazon forest lies a mixed tribe of Hydes and non-outcasts, who have interbred over multiple generations, producing human-like creatures. These hybrids do not exhibit the full physical transformation of pure-blood Hydes. However, psychological observations reveal a subtler—yet equally dangerous—instability. Their weakened mental barriers make them more susceptible to manipulation through conditioning. While trauma-based control is common within the tribe, many willingly choose a leader and subject themselves to pharmacological manipulation. The Monkey Brush Vine is particularly potent and is commonly used in ceremonial practices.”
Wednesday turned the page, her breath catching as she read the final entry. She snapped the book shut and looked sharply at Enid, then Uncle Fester.
“We need to contact Tyler. Now.”

Chapter Text
Uncle Fester stayed behind, hiding out in their room for the night. They couldn’t risk him getting caught, not while the authorities were still searching for him. Thing had spotted them near Uncle Fester’s getaway bike, which must have been a hilarious sight for the police to stumble upon in the middle of the woods. The elder Addams had cackled at the news.
Wednesday was searching everywhere for Tyler. She’d started at the Weathervane, but had no luck. He’d called in sick at the last minute, and neither Enid nor the manager had been able to reach him. Every call was met with a disconnected tone, which only deepened Wednesday’s worry. She had refused to tell Enid what she’d read, slamming the book back into the safe like it had burned her. Even now, her face was paler than usual. And the further into the night their search stretched, the worse she looked.
Enid did her best to reason with her fiancée, smoothing down stray hairs, flattening the wrinkles in her clothes, and holding her hand, drawing soft circles along the back of Wednesday’s.
Their last stop was Tyler’s house. Neither of them had ever visited before, especially not after Tyler’s father lost his job. Wednesday looked pained when she saw that his car wasn’t in the driveway.
“Baby,” Enid whispered, “maybe we should call it a night? I mean, it looks like his dad is home, so he must know where Tyler is, right?”
She watched Wednesday’s face for a response, her heart breaking at the blank stare.
“C’mon, we can totes' try again tomorrow. I’m sure he’s fine.”
She reached forward, gently taking Wednesday’s arm and pulling her away from the house. A few moments passed before Wednesday’s shoulders finally slumped. She turned without a word.
Sneaking past the guards and spelled gargoyles was becoming easier... too easy. Enid wondered if that should worry her, but she kept the thought to herself as she changed into her pajamas and crawled into bed. Despite the weight of exhaustion in her limbs, she still managed to call for Wednesday.
Her eyes fluttered shut just as she felt Wednesday slip in beside her, shifting slightly as her head settled on Enid’s chest. A small, satisfied rumble escaped Enid’s throat as she whispered a loving goodnight.
Wednesday responded with an equally sincere, “I love you.”
Wednesday couldn’t sleep. She stared at the ceiling, thoughts of Tyler gnawing at her. Bile rose in her throat.
Was Goody wrong? Was Tyler the one with pure intentions?
Had she spent so much time protecting Enid that she hadn’t thought about everyone else who had crept into her heart? Bianca. Tyler. Yoko. Divina. Ajax. Even Divina’s idiotic brother.
Were they all in danger too?
The mere idea made Wednesday tremble with rage.
She refused to let destiny dictate her life. Not now. Not with Enid at her side. Together, they would rewrite fate.
Wednesday turned her head slightly to look behind Enid where her digital clock illuminated the dark room in a soft pink hue. 2:34 AM. Wednesday blinked. Had they really been out that late? She felt her heart constrict, eyes drifting back towards her fiancée. Enid had been tired all night, Wednesday had dragged her out late into the morning to find Tyler. She almost didn’t stop either. What kind of fiancée was Wednesday to put lover through so much?
Wednesday wrapped her right arm around Enid’s waist, kissing the exposed skin on Enid’s collarbone, before falling asleep.
The seer had checked Enid’s messages, and saw Tyler had replied back with an apology, making the excuse that he was with his dad out of town. She scowled at the words even now. He was lying. But why? His father was clearly still home when they checked on him. She had sent a message to Bianca, asking her to meet at the Weathervane to exchange information regarding her last task Wehdnesday had handed her.
The bell above the café door jingled as she stepped inside. According to her watch, it was a little after 9:30 a.m., and the morning rush had thinned. A few people lingered at tables or sipped drinks by the windows.Tyler was behind the counter, wiping it down. His rag was stained with old coffee as he reached underneath to grab a clean one, wringing it out over a sanitation bucket.
He barely looked up when she approached.
“Tyler,” she greeted, her voice still slightly hoarse from sleep. “We need to talk.”
He scoffed, tossing the used rag back into the bucket before straightening up. “I’m working right now, Wednesday.”
A spike of irritation flared in her chest. “That’s never stopped you from interrupting me before,” she snapped.
Tyler rolled his eyes and crossed his arms. “Are you going to order or what?”
They locked eyes. His gaze was dark, guarded, nothing like the soft warmth he used to show her. Something twisted in her gut.
Something is wrong.
“I’ll have my usual quad with a blackberry scone.” she said, finally. He nodded stiffly and turned away. Wednesday slid a ten-dollar bill across the counter, resisting the urge to throw it at him, and walked off to claim a booth by the window.
She watched the passersby in silence until a familiar voice called out behind her.
“Morning, Wednesday.”
She looked up to see Bianca, wearing a barn jacket over a turtleneck and jeans.
“I brought a guest—hope you don’t mind.”
Wednesday’s eyes narrowed slightly as Lucas stepped out from behind her. He looked worn down–his eyes were sunken, and his hair unkempt.
“Hey, Wednesday.” he said, voice hoarse.
“Hello, Lucas,” she said curtly, then shot Bianca a sharp look.
“I can explain why he’s here,” Bianca began, raising her hands slightly. “Let me just place my order and—”
“No.”
Wednesday cut her off, watching as Tyler looked at them with growing interest. That same intensity had returned to his gaze, and it set her on edge.
“Let’s take our drinks to Nevermore.”
Bianca and Lucas blinked.
“You sure?” Lucas asked cautiously. “Pretty sure I’m not exactly welcome there.”
“Please,” Wednesday said softly, yet firmly.
Bianca seemed to understand immediately. Her expression shifted into something more serious as she took Lucas’s arm and led him to the counter to order.
“I’m kind of concerned by how easily we just got through all those security measures,” Lucas said, trailing behind Bianca and Wednesday as they descended the stairs.
“Don’t think too hard about it,” Bianca said, waving off his concern. “She’s just very good at sneaking around.”
Wednesday smirked. “Oh my, Barclay. Is that flattery I hear?” She ran her fingers across the spines of the books lining the second shelf, stopping at one labeled Tablinum. With a satisfying click, she pulled it halfway out.
“How—” Bianca started, eyes wide as the shelves groaned and slid aside to reveal another room.
Portraits covered the walls inside. The center of the room dipped into a square-shaped pit, with seats carved directly into the stone floor, facing a raised wooden table.
“This is wicked cool,” Lucas breathed, staring at the portraits. He squinted, then pointed toward one near the door. “Wait—that woman looks a lot like you.”
Sure enough, it was a portrait of Wednesday’s mother. She appeared older than Wednesday was now, her uniform fitting her like a second skin, her eyes curling with a mocking smile and sparkling with that familiar dark glint.
“My mother was the head of the Nightshades during her time at Nevermore,” Wednesday explained, motioning for them to sit. Lucas followed, setting his drink and pastry on the table. Bianca remained by the portrait, staring at it thoughtfully.
“Babe?” Lucas asked gently.
“Yeah, sorry.” Bianca turned away and joined him at the table, nibbling at the muffin she’d ordered.
Wednesday cleared her throat. “So, may I ask why you brought Lucas in the first place?”
Lucas and Bianca exchanged a look. He straightened, took a deep breath, and met Wednesday’s gaze with surprising confidence.
“I know you sent Bianca to fake-date me.”
Well.
“I see.”
Silence.
Lucas let out a shuddering breath. “And I get why. But… I forgive her. We’re going to try dating for real this time. I—I want to help you guys. Willingly. My father… he did what he thought was right, what he thought was safe. But he was wrong. And it cost him his life. I don’t want anyone else to die because we waited too long. So please—let me help.”
Wednesday looked down at her quad espresso before speaking. “Bianca, do you trust him?”
Bianca didn’t hesitate. “Yes.”
Wednesday held her gaze and nodded. “Then all right. Lucas, I apologize for manipulating you through Bianca. I suppose in that way, I’m like your late father. But I hope we can work together so I don’t become him.” She extended a hand. Lucas took it and shook firmly.
They sat in quiet for a moment, sipping their drinks. Then Bianca slid a large manila folder across the table toward Wednesday.
“Lucas found these in his dad’s home office last week. He’s been trying to piece things together,” she explained, squeezing his hand.
“I kind of lost myself trying to figure out what led to my dad’s death,” Lucas admitted, voice tight with grief. “He must’ve been close to something if they went that far. And I thought, if Wednesday and Tyler can do this, so can I. I had to… avenge him.” His brows drew together, barely hiding the anger beneath.
He relaxed when Bianca’s hand touched his shoulder. He glanced at her and kissed her hand. “But Bianca talked me down. She convinced me to bring this to you instead.”
Wednesday opened the folder and began spreading the documents across the table. Police records, mostly unedited, filled with findings from the Gates mansion. Vivid descriptions leapt off the pages—deep claw marks raked down walls, black goo-like substances splattered across floors.
Then something caught her eye.
A death certificate.
“This is a death certificate for Laurel Gates,” she said, pulling the paper closer. “She supposedly drowned twenty years ago.”
She set it down and picked up another document—it appeared to be notes written by Mayor Walker before his death.
“Your father believed Laurel Gates faked her death… and that she’s back in town. Somehow, she’s involved in this. But if she’s here—why hasn’t anyone seen her?”
Lucas cleared his throat. “There’s also a property transfer record. A woman named Arianna Greengrass bought the Gates house after the family died.”
Wednesday frowned. That house was abandoned when she and Enid broke in. There was no evidence of someone other than the Gates living there—just the Gates’ belongings, rotting and untouched.
“When Arianna died,” Lucas continued, “she listed her caregiver as the sole inheritor of the property. Her name was—”
“Marilyn Thornhill,” Wednesday whispered, staring at the name on the page.

I know I said it was like two chapters left but Maevax convinced me to expand it a bit more and add two more chapters. Especially because this particular chapter was around 3.5k words in my doc. Chapter Text
Lucas kissed Bianca on the cheek before waving goodbye. He looked lighter than he had earlier that day. Grief had taken its toll on him, but after their conversation, it seemed the weight had shifted, just a little.
Bianca and Wednesday made the walk back into town in silence. Wednesday's mind was still processing the information she'd been given. The revelation that Ms. Thornhill was close enough to the Gates family to inherit their estate was a perplexing puzzle piece. It didn’t fit. Thornhill was the only normie teacher on campus, yet she treated every student the same. Without judgment, without cruelty. She even had a strange tradition of crafting personalized flower arrangements for each student that came to Ophelia Hall.
Wednesday had received a black dahlia on her second night.
Something didn’t add up. Maybe it was time to have Thing dig into Thornhill’s background. Properly.
By the time they reached the Weathervane, the sun had begun to dip below the horizon.
Wednesday glanced through the café’s windows. No sign of Tyler. She assumed he’d already clocked out.
Her thoughts suddenly filled with Tyler's possible connection.
He was a part of it. He had to be. But how? Was Thornhill connected to him?
She must have been staring too long because Bianca spoke.
“Thank you, Wednesday.”
Ah. So she knew.
“Do not mention it,” Wednesday said quietly. “My uncle was more than happy to help.”
Wednesday had asked Thing to investigate Bianca long before she'd ever approached her. When he returned with evidence of a false identity and a hidden past, Wednesday had immediately written her off as an ally. But Thing had persisted.
Bianca was estranged from the cult. They were trying to drag her back... to reclaim her.
It wasn’t until Parent Weekend, when Wednesday witnessed how Bianca’s mother coiled chains with words alone, that she reconsidered. A quiet conversation followed. And soon after, Uncle Fester took the job.
He had been... thorough.
His report detailed everything. The police reports that followed barely scratched the surface of what had happened. He had spent weeks hunting members, sorting the brainwashed from the unwilling. It was why he’d even been at Nevermore. He was on the run, wanted for the slaughter of hundreds of cultists.
“Still,” Bianca said softly, her voice thick with emotion. “I don’t think I can ever repay you.”
“Try,” Wednesday replied, turning and walking away.
She left Bianca standing in the middle of town.
Enid was still asleep when Wednesday got back to their dorm. Seeing how tired Enid was made her heart twist with guilt all over again. Her fiancée had been exhausted after last night, if it meant she was still sleeping in. Wednesday set the scone on Enid’s desk, then leaned down to press a soft kiss to the werewolf’s forehead.
“Mmh? Willa, is that you?” Enid mumbled, eyes fluttering open, still half-lidded with sleep.
“It is,” Wednesday replied quietly.
Enid was always breathtaking, but seeing her groggy, her voice rough with sleep, tugged at something primal in Wednesday. She leaned in and kissed her. Enid inhaled sharply, then met her eagerly, not hesitating to lick into her mouth.
A small part of Wednesday was relieved. After everything that had happened last night and this morning, she’d been tense. Something was coming, she could feel it. But holding her fiancée, kissing her, knowing she was safe and alive, that eased the storm inside her, if only for a moment.
She deepened the kiss, gently biting Enid’s lip, but paused when she heard a sharp whine and felt a firm hand on her chest, pushing her back.
“Apologies, mi vida,” Wednesday said, licking her lips to savor the lingering taste. “I forgot my lung capacity is much larger than yours.”
Enid waved her off, chest rising and falling as she caught her breath.
“Honestly, babe, if I die from your kissing skills, then I die happy.”
Wednesday rolled her eyes, playfully bumping her forehead against Enid’s.
“Are you still tired?” she asked, gently.
Enid nodded, eyes still droopy. “A little.”
“Go back to sleep. I’ll be here when you wake up.”
“Promise?”
“I promise,” Wednesday said, pressing another kiss to her forehead. “I love you, Enid.”
Enid smiled, half-asleep. “And I love you, Wednesday.”
For the next hour, Wednesday worked quietly at her desk. A small part of her hoped writing would help settle her mind. Everything seemed to be piling up at once. She was doing her best to keep pace, but balancing her investigation with protecting Enid was starting to fray her nerves.
Just as she finished her last paragraph, she heard the telltale groan of her waking wolf.
“Ughhh,” Enid groaned, lifting her arms and making grabby hands. “Willa, c’mere.”
Wednesday, ever the obedient fiancée, complied, leaving her desk to fall into Enid’s embrace.
“Love you,” Enid mumbled into her hair, nuzzling her cheek.
“And I am completely and utterly bewitched by you, Enid Sinclair,” Wednesday whispered into her shoulder. “I have been since the moment I saw you. I thank the gods that our paths crossed. Every breath I take is done with complete and utter devotion to you. I would die for you, mi vida.”
Enid’s body shuddered at the raw emotion in each word. Her fingers curled into Wednesday’s hair and yanked her in for a kiss. Wednesday knew Enid felt the same; what she couldn’t say in words, she poured into every touch.
Enid’s presence alone was enough to calm her. A glance, a word, anything from her was proof of her love.
Enid was everything.
And without her, Wednesday was nothing.
Wednesday had learned the art of stalking from an early age.
She would trail behind Uncle Fester as he glided through shadows, following whatever blonde had caught his eye that week. It never went anywhere. Fester would whisper in delight the moment his “target” began to panic, thrilled by the chaos of leaving cryptic clues behind.
Wednesday watched, studied, and perfected the technique by the time she was seven.
Now, it seemed the skill would finally come in handy.
The moon was high in the sky when she arrived at Tyler’s house. His car was parked in front, just as she had expected. Silently, she crept along the side of the house, crouched low. Peeking through the front window, she spotted Tyler’s father passed out on the sofa, the flickering light of the TV casting shadows across the room.
She ducked back down, moving along the edge of the house until she found a low-hanging branch. With practiced ease, she leapt and pulled herself up, climbing steadily until she reached the lower section of the roof. Her movements were silent. Precise.
She crept toward the bedroom window.
Something was wrong with Tyler, that much she knew.
He had ignored her calls the previous night and acted strangely that morning. Their friendship, which had been gradually mending, had somehow unraveled overnight. She'd noticed his odd behavior at her birthday party, too. He’d been too pushy with the nickname, and after Enid punched him, he’d brushed it off like nothing happened.
That should’ve been a red flag. A transformed werewolf, even mid-shift, should have sent a normie to the hospital.
Instead, he’d laughed with everyone else.
Wednesday barely managed to duck out of sight as he entered his room.
His body language was wrong. His shoulders were stiff, coiled with tension. His expression was eerie... blank, eyes hollow.
A soft chime sounded from his phone. He glanced at it for a few seconds before picking it up. Whatever he saw twisted his face in sudden rage. Before Wednesday could fully process it, he hurled the phone against the wall with a violent crack, then stormed out of the room with a growl.
The front door slammed open moments later.
Wednesday dropped down from the roof, landing with a practiced thud, and watched as Tyler passed his car and sprinted toward the woods.
Panic filled Wednesday.
No. No. No.
He was heading straight for Nevermore.
She ran.
Wednesday was too late.
She barely managed to take a step inside her dorm before she fell to her knees. Her hands shook violently as they closed around a familiar scrap of fabric, Enid’s pink snood, now soaked and dark with blood. The sight of it took the air out of her lungs.
The room was in chaos. Furniture overturned, clothes and books scattered like debris from a storm. It didn’t take a detective’s eye to see the signs of a struggle. Enid had fought fiercely. But she hadn’t stood a chance.
Wednesday’s chest tightened. Her breath was ragged, mind racing to find some semblance of sanity.
Enid was missing. Enid was hurt. Someone had taken her.
Taken her from Wednesday.
The scream tore from Wednesday’s throat before she could stop it.
Wednesday stood at the center of the Nightshades’ hidden sitting room, arms crossed, eyes locked on the table.
Papers were scattered in front of her. Maps, screenshots, torn-up notes, timestamps. She tried to focus, tried to piece it all together, but her vision didn’t register any of it. All she could see was the blood-soaked snood sitting in a plastic ziplock.
Enid. Enid. Enid.
No one spoke, but their eyes were all on Wednesday. They were all shocked at the news and were scrambling for any information regarding Enid’s disappearance.
Yoko cleared her throat. Her glasses were off, and even her anxiety was palpable to them.
“Enid’s last location was still on campus an hour after you came back to the dorm. Then it went dark. No signal. Life360 can’t pin anything more exact.”
She had been the first one to reach the dorm when Principal Weems announced it over the speakers. She had fought the police officers to get through the door and reach Wednesday. Her eyes had been just as frantic as Wednesday’s, crushed at the idea that Enid was gone.
Ajax rubbed the back of his neck. Despite his relatively laid-back personality, he looked nauseous. His eyes were sunken, and his snakes had gone silent. “None of the Gorgons saw anything in the Quad that night. We normally smoke in the Greenhouse by the woods, but Thornhill was working late last night.” He dug through his pockets, pulling out a handful of balled paper and straightening it out as much as he could. “Everyone was down to write what they saw that night. I got everyone to write down what they remembered, but… we were high. So… it’s not great.” He looked pained, and Wednesday hoped he’d stop depending so much on weed and get therapy for his anxiety.
Enid had always worried terribly for him.
“Sirens didn’t catch anything,” Kent said. Divina nodded. “Our late-night swims are normally scheduled for Mondays, so none of us were by the lake either.”
Wednesday didn’t respond. She just stared at the information surrounding her.
All of it was useless.
Enid had been right here. Right here. And she wasn’t there to protect her. She had failed.
Her breathing grew shallow, like something inside her was waiting to snap.
What could all of it have in common? Tyler was tied to this, and she knew someone must be controlling him. But who? There was no way it was him alone. He wasn’t fast enough to make it back, fight Enid, and drag her off campus without being seen. Thornhill was somehow involved, but was she the culprit? Wednesday hadn’t even seen her interact with Tyler, so how could she—
Her hand came down on the table hard. Everyone flinched.
Concern, fear, and hope. All of it was aimed at her. Wednesday’s chest heaved under the pressure.
Knowing her beloved, her everything, was missing and hurt and not near her. She stared at the picture of their dorm. The mess of broken furniture and items mocked her.
A sizzle sounded above her. This was not the time.
Wednesday moved before anyone could blink.
She dropped low, spun, and flipped a figure over her shoulder. They hit the floor with a thud and a manic giggle.
“Atta girl!” Fester howled. “You still got the fighting spirit!”
“Uncle Fester,” she said, her voice flat and deadly calm. “I have no patience for games. My fiancée is missing. I am hanging by a thread thinner than your sanity.” She got up from the floor, dusting herself off. “Did you bring anything of value, or shall I put you six feet under with Aunt Debbie?”
Fester cackled, throwing a chunk of wood at her. She caught it and briefly glanced at it.
“This is from our floor,” she said.
“I vaguely remember Enid mentioning a broody artist with the power to make his paintings come to life. And lo and behold, I found ink stains hidden beneath the rug.”
Wednesday silently examined it.
“There’s no way he would,” Bianca whispered, horrified.
“I will kill him,” Wednesday snarled.
Fester clapped his hands like a child, face smiling inhumanly long, a sadistic glint in his eyes.
