A Not So Relaxing Saturday

Summary:

Once Hakiro heard the bathroom door slam shut, he snapped his head towards Langa, eyes dark. "So you like him?"

Langa slowly turned to him, confused. "What?"

Hakiro repeated himself, "Do you like him?" Then added, "Reki."

Or: Reki's childhood friend has a crush on him. So, when he visits, he does not like Langa.

Notes:

I honestly don't think this is how Reki's childhood friend would actually be, but I wanted drama.

Work Text:

Langa knew for a fact that he liked Reki. Although he never had a crush on anyone before, he knew that what he felt for his best friend wasn't normal.

He didn't plan to tell Reki anytime soon, however. They are doing good right now. They moved on from their fight and began to spend even more time together. Langa often just randomly showed up at Reki's house and vice versa. It wasn't anything new and both of their Mom's never minded.

So, when Langa showed up at Reki's house one Saturday morning to ask if he wanted to head out and skate, he wasn't expecting to see him.

Masae opened the door for Langa, welcoming him inside. She mentioned how they had a guest but he just thought it would be a family friend or something along those lines.

But no. It was him. Him being Hikiro, Reki's childhood friend that he used to skate with. Langa knew what he looked like from videos and there was even a picture or two of the pair in Reki's bedroom from when they were little. He's heard a few stories as well, and he knew a bit about what happened to cause him to quit skating.

But, what he didn't know was that Hikiro definitely had some sort of crush on Reki.

When he walked into the living room, he saw Hikiro sitting on the couch right up against Reki, their hands intertwined and a small blush on his face. Reki did not share a blush on his own face, but he was smiling.

Sure, some may say this meant nothing, but Langa and Reki never held hands like that. Sure, they woke up once or twice spooning after a sleepover, but they always laughed it off. Sure, Langa liked Reki, but he wasn't going to make it that big of a deal over it. Besides, he didn't want to make their friendship awkward.

So, Hikiro definitely liked Reki. Which, okay, fine. That's cool. Reki is a very attractive guy who lightens up the room when he walks in. And yeah, he's talented and funny and overall the best friend anyone could ask for. So, he didn't necessarily blame Hikiro. And he wasn't jealous. Langa didn't get jealous. It wasn't fair to others. So he didn't.

Reki almost immediately noticed Langa when he walked in, stopping himself mid-sentence to then wave Langa over.

"Langa! You're here! Oh this is great." He smiled as he swiftly let go of Hikiro's hand. Langa tried not to feel smug about it as he walked over.

Hikiro looked up at him, his smile less bright than before. Langa looked between the two before sitting down on the chair beside the couch.

"Hikiro, this is Langa, my best friend." He said, introducing him. Langa gave him a small wave to which Hikiro just nodded, his expression unreadable.

"Nice to meet you. You're the Snow guy from S, aren't you? I saw a few articles on you." He asked. Langa just nodded, not really wanting to talk about his skating life at the moment.

"Yup! He's super famous." Reki wiggled his eyebrows at Langa, receiving a fond scowl from the light haired boy.

"I'm not famous."

Reki rolled his eyes, his intentions kind. "Sure."

Hikiro remained silent throughout their whole conversation, eyeing up Langa as if he were his next target. Langa shifted uncomfortably under his gaze, not knowing if he should say anything to the brunette or not.

"So…" Reki trailed off, now realizing the tension in the room. "Do you guys wanna head to my bedroom?" He asked. Langa and Hikiro both nodded before following him down the hall.

Koyomi was just walking out from her own bedroom when she saw the three boys walk into Reki's. "Oooh. Go Reki. You now have two boys in your room. Behave!" She teased, a smirk on her face.

Reki gasped at her, his face red. "I regret telling you everything!" He yelled out at her before sliding his bedroom door shut with a loud thud. He locked the door, preventing any of his sisters from wandering in, before turning back over to the two boys who were currently standing there, their faces red as well.

"What… is she talking about?" Hikiro spoke up, voice faint.

Reki shook his head before walking past them and sitting down on his bed. "She's just being a brat." Hikiro nodded, his eyes wandering over to the bisexual sticker on Reki's desk.

"You're bisexual?" He wondered out loud. Reki's eyebrows shot up to his hairline before remembering about the sticker. He then relaxed and nodded.

"Yeah. I am."

Hikiro grinned, "That's awesome. So am I!"

Reki nodded slowly, "Wow. That's cool."

Langa was now sitting beside Reki, his skateboard discarded onto the floor. If their knees were touching, well, that was nobody's business but their own.

"What about you, Langa?" Hikiro asked, looking at him. "Are you queer?"

Langa nodded. "Yeah. I'm gay."

Hikiro's reaction was suitable but still noticeable. At least to Langa. His face dropped slightly along with his posture. Everything else stayed the same. He then forced a smile. "That's awesome."

Langa nodded, not knowing what else to do. He didn't get why Hikiro was being so weird. He didn't know if Langa liked Reki or vice versa. Just because two boys were gay didn't mean they liked each other. Unless Langa was that obvious. Which would mean Reki was super oblivious.

Reki just smiled, nodding towards Hikiro to sit down as well. When he did, the three just stared at one another, not knowing what to say.

"So, you two seem close." Hikiro finally said, breaking the silence.

Reki and Langa exchanged looks before nodding, a small smile on each of their lips. They really were close. They knew each other like the back of their palms.

"Yeah, we really are." Reki grinned. Hikiro just stared at them.

"So, why are you back in Okinawa?" Langa asked after a few more awkward seconds of silence, his tone blunt. He blinked at Hikiro, waiting for an answer. Hikiro just stared at him before sighing.

"My parents wanted to visit my cousins who still live here. So, I decided to see Reki since we lost contact." He then grinned at the redhead in question who gave him a toothless smile in return.

Langa nodded. "Sweet."

"You're from the West, right?" Langa blinked before nodding at Hikiro. "Oh, cool. Do you support Trump?"

Langa made a face, "I'm not from America." And thank god for that. The amount of drama he saw on the internet about that country really made him happy he lived up North.

"Oh. Makes sense. You don't seem American."

"He speaks English though." Reki then said. Langa gave him a look.

"Canadians and Americans both speak English, Reki. I told you this before."

Reki flushed, a small and embarrassed laugh escaping his mouth. "Riiiight. I knew that."

Hikiro snorted, giving Reki a fond look. Langa bit the inside of his cheek, trying not to smile as Reki completely missed the look and instead faced him.

"How's your Mom doing?" Reki asked, "Is she still sick?"

Langa shook his head, his heart full at Reki's kindness. "No, no she's better now."

Reki grinned, "That's good."

Hikiro frowned, his arms crossed over his chest. What was his problem? Langa seriously just wanted today to be a relaxing Saturday. If Hikiro felt jealous, he should just instead ask Reki if he liked Langa. It would save him some energy.

And almost as if Hikiro read Langa's mind, he did. Sorta. "So…Reki, anyone special in your life currently?"

Reki immediately blushed, which was shocking to Langa. He leaned forward, now closer to Reki. When Reki didn't reply, Hikiro tried again.

"Soo… do you?"

Reki groaned and hid his face in his hands. Langa chuckled at his actions, resting a hand on Reki's shoulder in an attempt to playfully comfort him.

"I'm taking that as a yes."

Reki finally sat back up, Langa's hand still on his shoulder. Neither boy really noticed. Physical touch was normal for them.

"Maybe." Reki said with a pout. "But I'm not saying who!" Hikiro's frown deepened while Langa's face remained neutral. That was expected. Reki didn't share stuff like that.

"Well, is it someone from your school?" Hikiro tried, his voice slow. Reki frowned, face still red.

"Maybe."

Hikiro bit the inside of his cheek, his eyes subconsciously darting to Langa. He gave the light haired boy a glare before looking back over at Reki. Langa just scrunched his eyebrows together in confusion. What did he do?

"Girl or boy?"

Reki glared at Hikiro and Langa honestly couldn't tell if it was playful or not. He finally moved his hand off of Reki's shoulder, not noticing when Reki slumped down a bit, disappointed at the lack of contact.

"Skateboard." Reki replied instead of a real answer. Langa resisted the urge to snort. That was realistic.

"Ha. Ha." Hikiro said in a monotone voice, eyes still on Reki. "Just tell us."

Reki groaned. "I haven't told anyone. I haven't even admitted it to myself really. I..." He trailed off, eyes staring at the carpet below.

"You don't have to tell us if you don't want to." Langa shrugged, placing his hand on Reki's thigh. Smooth.. "No pressure."

Hikiro glanced down at his hand on Reki's thigh, jaw clenched. He was tired of Langa already and it's only been twenty minutes. If that.

Reki immediately relaxed. "Thanks, Langa." He looked up at him only to see Langa smiling at him. He smiled back.

Then Hikiro cleared his throat, both boys then turning to face him. "It's a boy, isn't it?"

Reki frowned. Dammit. "Yes. It's a boy. Happy?"

Hikiro looked smug for some odd reason. Langa didn't like that. He really didn't like that.

"Okay, there. See how easy that was?" Hikiro said. Reki glanced at him and then scoffed.

Reki then stood up, Langa's hand falling down onto the bed. He quickly placed his hand back onto his own lap as he looked up at him.

"I need to use the b-room. I'll be back." Reki then raced out of his room, nearly tripping on the carpet in the hallway.

Once Hikiro heard the bathroom door slam shut, he snapped his head towards Langa, eyes dark. "So you like him?"

Langa slowly turned to him, confused. "What?"

Hikiro repeated himself, "Do you like him?" Then added, "Reki."

Langa sighed. "Why does it matter?" He then raised an eyebrow, "Do you think I'm the boy he likes?" The thought alone was funny. And almost unrealistic. There was now way Reki liked him. Well… sure, okay, it was possible. Reki didn't talk to anyone else at school besides him. Especially guys. And…

Langa's own brain stopped, blocking out whatever Hikiro was about to say next.

Reki. Reki probably liked him.

No shit. His subconscious told him.

"-nga, Langa? Langa?" Hikiro repeated his name, snapping him out of his thoughts. Langa moved his gaze over to the other boy.

"Hm? What?"

"I said, yeah I do. And it's fucking unfair."

Langa wishes he could say he didn't expect that. But, with the way Hikiro has been acting today, it wasn't shocking. But why was it unfair? That didn't make sense. Nothing this guy said made sense.

"Why… Why is that unfair? I don't get it."

Hikiro rolled his eyes. "Because I had him first!" He raised his voice and hands, waving them up in the air before setting them back down at his sides.

Langa just stared at him. "What."

"He was mine first." He clenched his teeth together, spitting out the words like venom.

"He is nobodies. He's a person… you don't own him?" Langa was now really confused. He kinda understood what he meant. But not really. Reki and him never dated. So saying that was unfair to Reki who didn't reciprocate his feelings.

"He… he's still mi-"

Langa's eyes widened as Reki walked in. Reki looked as if he heard most of it. Yet, he didn't seem shocked. Hikiro must have noticed his gaze trail up and over him so he turned around, letting out a small squeak when he saw Reki at the doorway.

"Hikiro…I'm going to tell you the same thing I told you before you moved. I don't feel the same." Reki said, genuinely looking sorry because of course he was. Reki was too pure and nice for this world.

Hikiro's eyes saddened before he stood up. "Right. I'm sorry." He gazed to the side before hesitantly looking up at Reki. "I should go. It was nice to see you." And with that he ran out of the room.

Reki stood there for a few seconds, watching Hikiro exit the house before walking fully into the room, closing and locking the door behind himself. He then made his way over to Langa.

"He seems nice." Langa said with an eyebrow raised. Reki giggled softly before leaning slightly into Langa.

"He… he was. When we were kids and before he started to like me." Reki bit his lip before continuing, "At fifteen he moved away to get better medical treatment for his injury. But, before he left, he told me that he liked me." He hesitated before finishing, "I told him I didn't feel the same way. That's why we lost contact. Neither of us tried."

Langa hummed, everything now making sense. Part of him felt bad for Hikiro. I mean, getting rejected by Reki must suck. He didn't want that to happen to him. And if it did he'd respect Reki and move on. Then they'd just remain friends. No big deal.

The other half of him, though, felt smug. There was a 95% chance that Reki's crush was Langa. And that felt good to know. Hikiro could suck it with his jealousy issues.

Maybe Langa should invite Hikiro to his and Reki's wedding just to be petty-

Wait. What?

Langa snapped out of his thoughts yet again, returning his full attention to Reki. "That's rough." Langa said, mentally face-palming.

Reki chuckled at the awkward wording, "Yeah. I guess he still hasn't gotten over it." He sat up a bit and looked at Langa. Blue eyes met brown and Langa wanted to melt. "Sorry about him being all annoying with you."

Langa shrugged, "It's fine. Really. I understand his pain."

Reki raised an eyebrow, a small smirk forming on his face, "You do? Mr. Has About Two Girls A Day Ask Him Out."

Langa groaned. "Shut up." Reki laughed, eyes falling shut as he clenched his stomach. Langa watched him fondly. God, he was so gone for that boy.

One day in the near future he would tell Reki how he felt.

But not today. Today was just going to be a relaxing Saturday.
