It was June 1st in Griffin rock, a beautiful Sunday morning. The sun was shining through the windows and would've got in the humans eyes if it wasn't for the absolute sheer massiveness of the bots.
"Cody,what's with all the decor they put up every summer?" Heatwave asked the teenager.
"Well,summers just something people get really excited for. Sun and heat,its really appreciated after our harsh winters."
"But it seems to be in June specifically. What is so special about June?" Chase asked.
"Uh...I dont-" Cody started,before realising what he was referring to. "Oh,by decor,by any chance do you mean rainbow decor? Like rainbow flags?"
"Yes. I don't see why humans hang up rainbow flags in June when you're more likely to get rainbows when it's raining in the autumn or the spring. Unless they miss rainbows. Which I wouldn't understand either,they're just natural holograms,are they not?"
"Chase,don't undermine the beauty of rainbows." Blades joined. "unless you became a rainbow,you cant talk."
Cody smacked his hand over his mouth to cover the laugh that escaped him. If only Blades understood what he sounded like he was saying...
"Rainbows aren't special and neither is the summer." Heatwave said,before turning to Cody. "You get those all the time. Why do you humans make it such a big deal every year?"
Cody was still laughing as he spoke. "Its not the rainbows that make it special. It's the month."
"June,July,August, what's the difference? It's still hot, what makes June special?" Heatwave asked.
"Because its pride month,Heatwave. That's what the flags represent."
All the bots turned to each other,looking between themselves for a moment to realise not a single one of them had a clue what he was referencing.
"Pride month? Does that include humans being proud of being humans? Or being proud of what they created?' Chase asked.
"Well...no. it's like....a relationship thing?" Cody tried,not exactly knowing how to explain. He realised Graham,his dad and Dani had come out of their lift together,and turned to the three for help.
"Dad? How would you explain pride month?"
His dads eyes widened for a moment,before turning to his kids. "I completely forgot about that... yeah,happy pride month kids."
Dani merely shrugged. "Just another month of being bisexual. Nothing too special about it."
"What is ...'bisexual'?" Blades asked,bending down to their height. "And what's 'pride month'?"
"Oh,just means I like girls aswell as guys. I don't make too much of a fuss about it." Dani told him.
"So...you aren't allowed to like both?"
"Yeah,that used to be a thing.'
"But what if you had sisters? Would you only be allowed to like your brothers,or just your sisters? I'm confused."
"I'm confused too," Chase added, "is it that girls and boys can't like each other,or boys and boys. And girls and girls,ofcourse."
Graham laughed. "Its not about siblings. Its about being in love."
"So you're not allowed to be in love? But why?' Boulder asked.
"Its about gender. It used to be a...rule,I guess, that boys couldn't be in love with other boys,and girls couldn't be in love with other girls. Pride month is a month that celebrates that the rule no longer exists. Basically." Graham told them.
Heatwave gave a huff,a mix of frustration but also laughter. "You humans have some stupid rules. Who cares? Boys with boys,girls with girls, aslong as you're safe,who cares?"
"We don't care anymore. And that's the point. That's what pride month is." Cody informed.
"And what's with the rainbows?" Heatwave asked.
"Well,each colour means certain things. Like pride,which I'm pretty sure is the red. Every single colour means a different word,all being just other ways for people to say they're proud of who they are.' Cody said,slightly unsure.
"You humans make it so complicated. You could've made it one colour.'
"And why did people care about who you love to begin with? Love is beautiful as it is,no matter who it is." Boulder asked.
"I agree" Graham told his partner.
"How surprising," Dani joked,sarcasm lacing her voice, "especially as a guy with a boyfriend yourself."
"Hah hah" Graham joked,with the same amount of sarcasm.
Lol I just choked,stopped breathing,and almost got sick,I need to finish this LOLOLOLOLOL.
