Tims day had gone from bad to worse. He had been pulled into a domestic situation and it brought up feelings about his childhood and about his dad. All he wanted was Lucy. He told her to meet her at their spot on the roof of the parking garage. He loves her and wants everything with her in the future. Lucy came and saw Tim with his hands in his lap overlooking the city.
Hey what’s up she asked?
That domestic situation brought back memories of my dad and I thought you should know what happened Tim said.
What do you mean by that Lucy asked?
Lucy I was abused by my dad. He was abusive to the point I would find ways to stay at school. I would tell my mom, but he would still find a way. This scar was from when I almost tried to kill myself because I couldn’t take the pressure of being the protector anymore Tim said pointing to one on his arm.
Tim why didn’t you get out sooner Lucy said sitting down next him.
I did that’s when I chose to go in the marines. I figured I can help Genny. That’s how I got the scars on my back. Lucy I am scared to open to anyone Tim said looking out in the distance.
Tim, why me Lucy asked taking his hand.
Lucy, you’re the only person I can trust. I can trust Angela, but if I told her that. She would be telling me to go to therapy. Which I do after work two times a week. Riding with you gives me a sense of calm and peace. You’re not like anyone I liked or dated or married before Tim said rubbing her hand.
Wow Tim. What makes you say that Lucy asked.
Lucy, I love you. You were and are the only person that cares about me besides my sister. My mom does but God knows where she is. I never even told Grey about my past. Tim said almost in tears.
Tim is that why you do these Tim tests. To prove to yourself that you’re not like your dad Lucy asked.
Yes. It also helps me get over the scars you can’t see Tim said whipping his eyes.
What scars can’t we see. Lucy asked.
The emotional ones. Certain situations that I see every day affect me. Like that domestic, it brought back those memories of my dad Tim said.
Timothy Bradford. I am glad you can trust me. Maybe you can tell me more on a date tomorrow night Lucy said smiling.
Ok Lucy Chen. It is a date Tim said smiling.
Lucy turns and faces Tim and pulls him into a kiss. Tim smiled and heard fireworks and pulls away. He sees that they weren’t just going off in his head.
“Lucy, I just have one thing to ask of you” Tim asked.
“What’s up Bradford” she asked holding his hand.
“We don’t tell Angela this. Can we just sit and watch the fireworks as are date this evening. Tim asked.
Lucy curls up and nods. They sit and watch the fireworks. Lucy plays with Tim’s shirt collar. Tim smiles. Tim jumps at one and shuts his eyes.
“What’s up” Lucy asked.
‘Just certain ones bring back the memories of the military” Tim said.
Lucy kisses his nose.
Tim, I got you. Even in the shop. We’re in this together. Lucy said looking him in the eyes.
Tim smiled and finished watching the fireworks. After the fireworks Tim took Lucy to her car.
I had fun tonight Bradford” Lucy said smiling.
So did I Chen. Still on for tomorrow Tim asked.
I am, she said blushing.
Tim pulls Lucy into a kiss. Little did they know Angela was watching from around the corner. Lucy pulled away and gets in her car. She finally feels happy and glad Tim, her grouchy training officer can open and honest with someone. She was glad that she was that someone. Tim got in his truck and smiled. He was glad that he finally started the dating world again and it was someone different than Isabel. His therapist would be proud that he was finally able to open up and be honest with someone.
