Work Text:
Ena is tired. She hated waking up early, but she loved her partner more than anything. Mizuki smiles seemingly at Ena, but more so a saying of, ‘I managed to trick the system.’ Ena grumbles for an nth time today, yawning softly. Mizuki giggles at this.
Yet the teachers were even more shocked. They were confused. Ena technically came to school, and the person who swapped schedules with her was none other than Shiraishi An, a classmate of Mizuki’s.
A person like An, a good student and role model, was convinced to swap schedules with Ena? It was an unsolved mystery among the students. The students had a wild time trying to solve the reasons for someone like An, to switch schedules with someone for a day—not to mention, a ton of people were wondering why Mizuki was hanging around Ena a ton, so they were also questioning how Mizuki got involved.
“Enanan, how is it in morning classes now?” Mizuki jabs at the brunette girl. Students around them were eyeing them closely.
“Torture.”
“But it’s way better with me by your side, right?” Ena stays silent at this comment. Watching the teacher continue teaching, and occasionally glance at the odd student (Ena) in their class, sitting where their perfect student (An), does.
This happens with most of the teachers, not saying a word about the strange student swap. Ena is thankful they remain ignorant, yet internally questions why they aren’t doing anything, suspecting them.
“Seriously, how did you manage to pull something like this off?” Akito asks the couple, when in fact, he was the one who suggested to Mizuki about this. Not to mention, he was one of the first people to figure out Mizuki and Ena were dating.
He personally knew An, being in the same group and also were the closest to the 3 parties, so it was a shocker that they all came together to do something like this.
[“Akiyama, you came to school,” His huff voice calls out their name.
“Ohoh, lil’ bro, there was a reason I came here actually, I had to tell you something. Did you know, I’m your in-law now?” The phrasing catches Akito off guard. What do they mean by this? Thoughts rushed through his mind. In-law…
“My in-law?” He repeats to make sure he didn’t hear wrongly, confused. There was a small inkling of thought in his eyes. Surely, they didn’t mean…
“I’m dating Enanan!” They bounce slightly. A big smile plastered on their face. Their words cut off Akito’s train of thought. His face was shocked, he knew they would end up together sometime, but just not now. His mind was in shambles after this. Did Mizuki come to school just to announce their relationship with Ena?
“You- what? You’re dating my sister? …Of all people? Nevermind the creepy new nickname you have for me, I was just about to tell you something about her,” Akito chuckles mischievously.
“What do you mean?”
“A few days ago, you two were calling, right? In summary, after the call, Ena was talking about how she loved you, or something like that.”
“What? Enanan, herself?” Mizuki asks in shock. Their eyes widened and their mouth was left slightly agape.
“Yeah,” He says in a cool manner, before thinking for a bit.]
“Well, with a bit of convincing, I managed to do it,” Mizuki says cheekily. Ena sighs, thinking about how she got roped into this whole ordeal.
“A bit of convincing?” Akito repeats, the tone of his voice raising at that last syllable, making it sound like a question.
“I was able to convince Kohane to convince An.”
“Damn, you really used her weak spot for Kohane, didn’t you…” Akito says out loud. To which Mizuki chuckles at. Ena watches their hair sway in the air as they laugh. Their energy and happiness is shown through the curvature of their lips as they smile. Ena can’t stop looking, can’t stop staring.
Their beauty is radiant. She always finds herself in the middle of staring at them. Always them.
“So, in summary, you asked Kohane to convince An?” Ena says, not even knowing how Mizuki pulled it off herself.
“Yep!” They exclaim the word like they’re proud of themself, to which they are.
[“Kohane!”
“Ah… Mizuki, have you seen An?” Kohane says in a soft voice, turning to face Mizuki. She wasn’t with An, so Mizuki had to take this opportunity to ask Kohane something—something part of their large scheme to get Ena to be in their class for a day at most.
“Oh yes, I have, actually. But before I tell you where she is, could you do me a favour?” Mizuki asks, Kohane can tell they have something up their sleeves, but decides that it wouldn’t be that bad to help them out.
“Sure, what do you need help with?” Kohane replies sweetly, not entirely knowing what was about to happen.
“Great! In short… I’m dating Akito’s sister and I want An to switch classes with Ena—who is in the night-classes programme so that me and her could be together! So, your role in this is to help me convince An to do it! She’d totally listen to you over me…”
It sounded like words from an insane person. Switching classes? Before Kohane could say anything, they continued talking. “Oh, I’ll deal with the consequences and stuff, maybe. I don’t even go to school that much—it’ll just be for a day!”
Kohane thinks for a while, processing the truckload of information that was just passed to her. “Akiyama-san, you’re really crazy…” She says, before being dragged to presumably where An was.]
“Ena!” Mizuki’s voice can be heard. Ena had fallen asleep in one of their classes. iiThe teacher’s silhouette could be seen, blocking her view.
“Look, you youngsters are so rebellious. I’ve been keeping it in for a bit, but not only have you switched classes, but now you’re sleeping in class? Tell me honestly, whose idea was this? Akiyama or you? Aren’t you Shinonome Akito’s sister?” The stern voice makes her nervous under the pressure.
“It was my idea,” A distant voice that was not Mizuki’s could be heard, the person the voice belonging to standing right there at the door.
Shiraishi An
Why was she here? Why? Ena swapped schedules with her for the day. Did something happen? Unanswered questions hazed Ena’s thoughts. Confusion shown in her face as she rubs her eyes to make sure she's not dreaming.
“Shiraishi An…?” The teacher stutters out.
“It was all my idea,” She says confidently and decisively. Her eyes are bold and striking as she proclaims that this was all her idea, when it wasn't. If there weren't enough mysteries today, the reason she is here, and the reason she's doing this is just another addition.
“An? What are you-” Ena stutters, half asleep.
“It was your idea, An? Why? You're a good student, a great role model even, what was the reason for doing this?” The teacher asks, confused and baffled.
“An?” Mizuki asks, when even Mizuki is shocked, Ena knew this was a strange thing. Suspicions grew in her mind.
“Nevermind. Come with me, I need to have a talk with you,” The teacher’s strict voice almost echoed throughout the classroom. Soft whispers could be heard amongst the students, they were also curious.
It was after school. Ena and Mizuki were searching for answers, it was then a joyful voice called out their name.
“Mizuki! Ena!” It was An. Why? How?
“An?” The couple said in unison.
“I got a good scolding for that, but I covered for you guys, it's better if I said it was my idea since the teachers are more lenient with me, compared to you, Mizuki.”
“You did?”
“Yeah, why wouldn’t I? It’s a ‘congrats’ on my behalf,” The words coming out of her mouth were unbelievable. It was so out of character for An, but then, inside, she had a compassionate and warm heart to those special to her.
She did that to make sure Ena and Mizuki had a good time together.
“Anyway, you both should get going now! I’ve got night classes to attend!” She runs off into the distance, and Mizuki and Ena look at each other with a smile, chuckling softly under their breath. It was a day well spent.
