Summary
Reader (Latina) and Tae Hyung are two co-works who catch feelings and want something more. The start of their relationship faces unique challenges. ( I do not want to give it any in the summary) Something gets in the way of them being together, a tragedy, the death of a loved one.
“Please, don’t do this”, I could hear the thick emotions in each word, so strained.
“I know it’s not what you truly want…”, what does he know, I thought. He’s naive and always full of hope, that used to be me. Yet, he was right, it wasn’t what I wanted, it was the exact opposite. It was one of the many reasons I never wanted to try, the fear of not being allowed the one thing I wanted most, him and me. Now, I was filled with all the reasons I had to do this, I had to push him away. I had to let him go. I have many dysfunctional characteristics, but selfishness was not one of them. If I was, I’d tie him down, and tell him how much I needed him more than ever. I’d use my circumstances to keep him in my grasp. I’d welcome his carefree, careless, unconditional love for me. I’d suck the joy and hope out of him, the joy of having a normal life, with a normal woman, who wasn’t broken and scared, who could give him the perfect family.
