Work Text:
The last thing Shu recalled was the door to his workroom opening, a certain blonde mafia boss bursting in right as Shu was casting the critical point of his curse. The sudden intrusion had led to the spell going awry, hitting the both of them at the same time. Without enough time to react properly, Shu had been able to do nothing but reach out to Luca as the both of them were sucked into two different portals, emitting a bright light.
Opening his eyes, Luca found himself standing in a brightly lit room, the soft light giving the room a homely feel. He heard the pitter-patter of footsteps around him, two, or perhaps three people moving around. The last thing he remembered was going into Shu’s room, his boyfriend giving him a surprised look as something was swirling around in his hands. Now, he found himself in this unfamiliar space, but something about it just made him feel…comfortable for some reason. It was almost as if this was something he had constructed himself.
Still regaining his bearings, he was knocked out of his thoughts when the door to the room was flung open, a small child dashing inside and hurriedly pushing the door closed. They were a peculiar, but cute child, and although Luca himself was open about not particularly liking children, something about this one just felt…precious to him.
What was odd though, was the fact that the child had paid no attention to the fact that there was a stranger standing right in the middle of this room, not even looking in Luca’s direction.
“Hello?” Luca was confused, did the child somehow miss him? Making his way towards the child, he was shocked, freezing when the child ran into him, but instead of bumping against his leg, they passed straight through him as if he was a ghost.
They ran around the room before settling on a hiding place under what looked like their dining table, giggling as if they had found the best hiding spot ever.
“Daddy and Papa won’t be able to find me here!” they whispered to themselves mischievously, hiding from this mysterious “Daddy” and “Papa”.
“What in the world is happening…” Luca was familiar with how powerful Shu’s curses were, having seen firsthand how they could affect a person, but he had never experienced something like this. Walking to the door, he tried to grab onto the doorknob, but found that he couldn’t grasp it. However, trying to go directly through the wall didn’t work either, as something stopped him from touching things directly.
He sighed, “Looks like I’m stuck here for however long this lasts,” He wasn’t a stranger to weird situations, but he knew that Shu would be doing all that he could to fix the situations, “Shubert…”
“Oh dear…I wonder where our little prince could be hiding?” a familiar yet not entirely familiar voice rang out from the next room, making both Luca and the child alert.
“Uh oh!” the small child exclaimed to himself, covering his mouth as if that would hide him better. Luca smiled at the display of childlike antics.
In the next moment, the door opened once again. But this time, Luca was rendered speechless by what he saw.
It was Shu. But…it wasn’t Shu? Well, they certainly looked like Shu, but this person was not Luca’s Shu. This Shu looked older, more mature. He was still blindingly beautiful, his hair slightly longer, but that pair of eyes still had the same sparkle in it.
“Hm…” Other Shu was clearly exaggerating his speech to entertain the child, “I can’t seem to find him? Maybe he’s not in this room?”
Luca glanced over at the child, seeing that they were desperately holding back their giggles in an effort to continue hiding themselves.
Other Shu walked around, musing to himself, “Well, maybe I need some backup in order to find our cute prince…” He fake coughed to himself, “Mhm, honeyyy?”
The mafia boss was taken aback. Honey? Was Shu…his heart rate starting to pick up.
However, everything was fine the moment the other person showed up.
“Yessss, my dear?” it was…himself. This Luca also looked a bit different to him right now. His hair was longer too, reaching down to almost past his shoulders, in a little side tail.
“I can’t seem to find our darling…” Other Shu pretended to be troubled by this fact, and Other Luca’s expression lit up in understanding of what Other Shu wanted to do.
“Oh! That’s too bad!”
The small child perked up, listening intently to what was happening.
“I just bought three slices of strawberry cake from the bakery, the ones that taste so pog! It’s so sad that our little prince won’t be able to have any…”
“Oh no…I guess we’ll just have to eat the third slice for him then.” Pretending to pout, Other Shu was able to entice the child to run out from under the table.
“Wait! Daddy! Papa! I’m here!!” The small child went running to the pair, instantly latching onto Other Shu’s legs and rubbing his face against his thigh. Luca watched in amazement as Other Luca and Shu laughed, picking the child up and turning it into a group hug.
“Oh there you are! Daddy and I were just talking about-”
“Strawberry cake!!! I wanna eat toooo~”
The child was just too adorable.
Luca couldn’t help but blankly stare at the scene in front of him. If he was reading this right, was this…the future? The people in front of him certainly were him and Shu…and Luca had always wanted to start a family someday. His heart beat with excitement at what he was seeing, his blood rushing with how badly he wanted this.
Alas, before he could see more, the family of three left the room and his surroundings gradually faded, a bright light once again enveloping everything. Opening his eyes, he was back in Shu’s workroom again. The sorcerer was shaking his shoulders, calling his name. His Shu.
“Shu?”
“Oh thank god! When I got back you were just laying on the floor, and you wouldn’t wake up no matter how much I called your name! I thought…I thought…” he was uncharacteristically distraught, arms shaking as he pulled Luca into a hug.
“I-I have resistance to this sort of thing, so I was okay…but I was so scared…” Luca could hear Shu’s voice quivering. His lover who was always so steadfast and calm was trembling like a leaf in his arms.
“I’m sorry I worried you, darling.”
“M-Mm.”
They just held each other in their arms for a moment, calming down from whatever had just happened.
“What happened on your end? Are you okay?”
Shu relaxed in his hold, breathing in and out a few times before speaking, “I found myself in a room, just observing one of the days we spent together in the past, I think around our first or second date,” Luca could tell Shu was smiling now, “We were so cute…so nervous around each other and naive. I can’t believe how far we’ve come now.”
“Oh god…thinking about it, we were so awkward…unpog…” Luca thought about those first few dates with Shu, how desperate he was to get everything right, how anxious he was when trying to hold his hand or slip an arm around his waist.
Shu giggled, “Yeah…but you were cute!" He let out a sigh, reminiscing about their past, "What happened to you? The spell was supposed to be a transporting spell, but you came in right when I was fixing the time and place coordinates so I think everything got really messed up.”
“Hmm…” Luca thought of how exactly he wanted to explain it to Shu. ‘We’re gonna have a child!!!’ ‘I know our kid’s gonna be really cute!’ ‘You’re really hot even in the future…’
Nothing seemed quite right. He didn’t want to put pressure on Shu, especially with another big factor such as having children in the equation.
“Whaaaat~” Shu was now whining cutely, “Is it something you can’t tell me?”
“Not exactly…but all I can say is…hm, whatever we do in the future, I think I know we’re gonna be really happy.”
“...” Shu seemed deep in thought at what Luca said.
“Shu?”
He seemed hesitant, “Hey Luca…have you ever thought of…what it would be like to have a child?” Luca could feel Shu’s heart beat faster as he asked.
“I-I can’t say I haven’t thought about it…I think-I think it would be amazing to start a family with you, Shu.”
“I think I have an inkling as to what you saw then!” Shu let go of the hug, facing Luca with the largest smile on his face. Luca laughed in return, his heart filled with nothing but joy.
“Let’s take our time then, I love you.”
“Yeah. I love you too."
