Chapter Text

Before I used to think that I would never experience an event in my life like in movies, where unusual things are happening to the main characters, especially the part where the female lead and the male lead are in a secret relationship.

“Who would want to be in a secret relationship, right?” I asked my friends, Won and Jake.

“You,” one of them answered.

“Yeah, you. You’ve been dating Sunghoon for quite some time now, but how come your relationship is still not public?” Jake asked with concern in his eyes.

I smiled a little and, “You know why,” said.

Jungwon put down his fork—as we are currently inside Jake’s condo unit, eating what Jay’s–his boyfriend—cooked for us.

“Us knowing the reason is not the point, Sun. We understand that he can’t tell it publicly, but his family? How come he can’t tell his family about you?” he asked while looking straight into my eyes.

I can’t help but to avoid his gaze and just play with my clothes, when he suddenly holds my hand, “Five years is enough, Sun. Know your worth. You can make your relationship private, but never a secret. Don’t settle for less,” he said and stood up to grab a drink in the kitchen.

Meanwhile Jake stayed and smiled at me when my gaze met his.

“You can always talk to us about your thoughts, Sun. We’ve been friends since we were still inside our mother’s womb, so don’t hesitate. Okay?” he said

I just nod and continue eating, so does he.

While eating, I remember why I’m here in Jake’s condo, where I supposedly be in my boyfriend’s.

[FLASHBACK]

“Sun, can you stay in your unit for two days?”

Hoon. Sunghoon Park. From Park family, Jay’s cousin. And my boyfriend of five years. We met when I was stranded because of the rain, and he gave me his umbrella, which I didn’t accept but he was so persistent so at the end, both of us used the umbrella to get to the parking lot.

At first I didn't know him. I have never been a fan of social media, so I seldom open my accounts and I only know a few relevant people in the society. So when I told Won and Ikeu about my encounter with Sunghoon, they were shocked and even told me I was lucky because it’s THEE SUNGHOON PARK.

So basically after that, me and Sunghoon have been seeing each other (secretly) that even my best friends don't know, they just found out when they saw us in a cafe together.

[END OF FLASHBACK]

Now going back, “It’s fine, love,” I answered and snuggled myself close to Hoon’s chest to feel his warmth.

“Are you sure? My mom will be staying here for two days, because she booked a wrong date in the hotel,” he reasoned out.

I just smiled bitterly, of course, the cons of dating the heir of the Park’s.

“Of course. I mean I have my own unit to start with,” I said in a low voice and tried to distract my thoughts by watching.

“Thank you, babe,” he said and kissed my head.

Of course, I’m gonna say that. Of course, I will say yes. Of course, I don’t have the right to shout to the world how much I love you. In those five years, this has always been our set up. No one knows except my friends and his about our relationship. This secret relationship.

I thought this kind of cliche event would only happen in movies, but I guess not.

After I bid my goodbye to Sunghoon, I watched as his car disappeared in my sight. I immediately called Jake and Jungwon if they’re available.

“MOTHER FATHER!” We heard from the kitchen so we hurried there only to see Jungwon’s angry face while looking at his phone screen.

“What are you looking at? And why did you shout?” Jake asked while walking towards the younger.

“Sun, don’t open your social media. JAY! CLOSE THAT FUCKING TV!” He shouts and grabs my hand and lets me sit on the chair.

For sure, confusion is written all over our faces because of Jungwon’s actions. But we didn’t ask yet, because we know he will tell us later.

Jungwon put down his phone and looked at me, smiling. “Wanna go to the mall? Let’s go window shopping!” he said.

“Suddenly?” I asked. He said yes and started pushing me out in the kitchen and on the way to the exit door when I heard something that made me stop.

“BREAKING NEWS! The sole heir of the Park’s, Sunghoon Park is now engaged to the Lee’s eldest daughter, Nathalia Lee! The said engagement party will be held in the prestigious hotel, owned by the Park’s and Lee’s family friend, the Nishimura’s. This is—”
“I TOLD YOU TO TURN OFF THE TV. WHAT THE FUCK, JAY?!?!?!”

“I DIDN'T HEAR YOU! I WAS IN THE BATHROOM DOING MY STUFF, I JUST GOT OUT!”

“STOP SHOUTING! YOU TOO!”

The three of them kept shouting, but I stayed in my place still trying to digest what I just heard. I heard it wrong, right? My boyfriend is not really going to marry that Lee, right?

And without knowing, my tears started to fall, following my sniffs that stopped the trio from arguing.

“Sun” “Sunoo” “Noo”

Even though my eyes are blurry, I grabbed my phone inside my pocket and dialed Sunghoon’s number, but it will always end up in voicemail after one or two rings.

“Why are you declining my call, Sunghoon?” I asked while sobbing, not giving a damn about my friends’ voices in the background.

After so many tries, finally, he answered, or so I thought, “Hello? Who is this?”

I heard a female voice.

Notes:

Wrote this instead of sleeping, I will probably delete this if no one likes it. But anyways, hope you enjoyed reading this first chap.

PS. I didn't proofread this so bare with some typos and grammatical errors. Ciao!
