Work Text:
Jazz resisted the urge to rock back and forth on his feet as the mech handling the temporary employment for the sound crew looked over his credentials. He knew they weren’t the best in the business–he was a singer and a bass player, after all–but he knew his way around speakers and a sound board well enough.
“Your practical experience is a little lacking,” Tone said, looking up from Jazz’s resume. “And you’ve never done a tour at all. What makes you think you’ll be a good fit here?”
“I know the band’s sound forward and backward, and I do mean that literally. I’m ready, willing and already packed to go on a galactic tour. And,” Jazz smiled, “I get along with just about anybot. If you look on the second page of my resume, you’ll see that I was the sound operator for three shows in Iacon for Soundwave and he gave me a glowing letter of recommendation.”
The fact that Soundwave was his best friend didn’t need to come up, though.
“He did, at that.” Tone sighed. “Look, I can’t sign you onto a galactic tour without at least hearing your work first hand. How about this: you come back tonight and work the sound board for Pop Twirl. If I like what I hear, you can have a trial run of three shows for Crystal Falls. Deal?”
“Sounds great to me, mech.” Jazz smiled. He knew Tone wouldn’t be disappointed.
