Work Text:
"Izuku has engaged another villain," A robotic voice announced.
Pausing her soldering, Melissa Shield looked up at the monitor, watching the information from the Hero Network update in real-time.
"Really?" Melissa sighed as she placed the soldering iron down and lifted her goggles. "That's the third one today. AEGIS, bring up the hero network."
Responding to her command, her AI brought up a summary of current actions going on. Using the sensors built into her glasses, Melissa selected Deku's current fight. He was currently all the way out in Nagoya facing off against an S-ranked villain named Blastwave, the mastermind behind an up-and-coming villain group.
"I see why Izu went after him, but that's the third villain today!" Melissa protested as she crossed her arms. "Don't the villains know it's his birthday? They should let him have an easy day!"
Letting out a sad sigh, Melissa continued. "AEGIS, contact Ocha." She heard the tones beep as her equipment automatically connected to the priority channel in her wife's headset.
"I already know," Ochako replied the moment the connection was made. "When Deku called me in for the last fight we synched radios and I've been listening ever since."
"Do you think it'll ease up?" Melissa asked as she watched the video feed.
"If he takes out Blastwave? Probably not," Ochako admitted. "He's going to keep going until he tries to dig out the rest of them."
"It's gonna be one of those nights, isn't it?" Melissa asked sadly.
"Stupid villains, ruining our birthday plans," Ochako grumbled.
"Well… we knew who we were marrying," Melissa said fondly as she watched Blackwhip lashing out, pinning the villain as Izuku leaped toward him.
"You know I wouldn't have it any other way," Ochako agreed. "I'll come home as soon as I'm done here?"
"I'll be waiting," Melissa replied. "Be safe."
"I will, love you."
"Love you too," Melissa replied before disconnecting the call.
She gave one last glance at the footage of the fight before dismissing the video with a wave of her hand. With a sad sigh, Melissa looked down at her project. She's been working on and off for a few weeks and just had to finish the final assembly before wrapping it up for her husband.
Lowering her goggles back over her glasses, Melissa picked up the soldering iron and resumed her work.
Izuku let out a weary sigh as he finally returned to his home on the outskirts of Shizuoka. After taking down Blastwave, the local heroes requested his assistance in raiding the villain's hideout. The raid itself only took half an hour, but the fighting was intense in his efforts to protect everyone.
And then there was the paperwork.
"At least the sun hasn't set," Izuku mused as he looked up at the sky.
Not wanting to waste any more time, he opened the front door. "I'm ho-"
"Happy birthday Izu!" His partners greeted him simultaneously.
Standing there in the hallway were his two wonderful wives, Ochako and Melissa. Seeing their smiling faces, he immediately felt his spirits lifting. "How long have you two been waiting for me?"
"You can't be that out of it," Melissa teased him. "You know I've got tracking equipment in all of your support gear."
"I'm not," Izuku admitted as he quickly pulled his shoes off before he stepped into the house. He quickly found himself surrounded as the two pulled him into a hug. "Sorry to keep you waiting."
"Don't be sorry," Ochako said. "Those villains should have known better."
"Yeah!" Melissa agreed as Izuku rested his head on her shoulder. "They could have waited a day to get beaten up by Deku!"
"Thanks," Izuku said, giving the two a weary smile. "Although the paperwork was the real problem."
"Tell me about it," Ochako said as she rolled her eyes. "Can't we find a way to get rid of it?"
"Unfortunately I can't make any support gear to help with that," Melissa said apologetically. "You're stuck doing that without my help."
"That's okay," Izuku said as he kissed Melissa. "You help me plenty enough as it is."
"Where's my kiss?" Ochako asked, giving Izuku a pout.
"The one in the field wasn't enough?" Izuku asked sheepishly before he kissed Ochako.
"I can never have enough kisses," Ochako said playfully as her eyes darted between her partners.
"As much as I'd like to continue, we don't want the food to get cold and soggy," Melissa reminded Ochako.
"Food?"
"We ordered Katsudon from your favorite place," Melissa explained proudly. "I timed it perfectly so it arrived right before you did."
Izuku felt himself tearing up as he embraced his partners again, hearing their matching squeaks of surprise as he held them close. After the day he had, they knew exactly how to cheer him up.
Wiggling free from his grasp, Ochako led Izuku to the Kotatsu where he sat down at his place. Once the three were seated and food was served, Izuku picked up his chopsticks.
"Itadakimasu!"
After dinner, Izuku went to the couch while Ochako retrieved his weighted blanket. A custom blanket, it weighed almost 50 kilograms and was patterned with a giant image of All Might emblazoned on both sides. Using her quirk to make it weightless, Ochako carried it across the room and draped it across her husband's shoulders.
"Thanks," Izuku said gratefully as he adjusted it around himself before the two women settled on either side of him.
"So do you want your presents now or…?" Melissa asked curiously.
Izuku closed his eyes as he felt the warmth from the two seeping through the blanket, washing away the day's stress. Letting out a content sigh, he opened them and glanced at the two. "You didn't have to get me anything, this is really all I could ask for."
Ochako rolled her eyes as she scoffed. "If you feel that way, I'll take your present back."
"N-no!" Izuku choked out, causing the two women to laugh.
"If you just want to relax, they can wait," Melissa insisted.
"I'm actually curious," Izuku admitted as he eyed the two packages in front of him.
Separating, the two women watched as Izuku reached out and grabbed one of the packages, both wrapped in identical Deku-themed wrapping paper. Carefully peeling the paper back, he gasped at the sight.
"A prototype Uravity Master Scale figure?!" Izuku exclaimed.
"Yep!" Ochako said brightly. "After we checked out the samples I asked if they could box two of them up and send them to my agency."
"The other one's joining all of the other prototypes in your office?" Izuku asked curiously.
"Of course! I know how much you've been looking forward to this one, though." Ochako explained.
"I still think they should have made your figure before mine," Izuku said.
"At least you two get figures," Melissa teased.
"I keep trying to negotiate a contract on your behalf," Izuku insisted.
"I know," Melissa said as she kissed Izuku on the cheek. "I don't mind though. At least I can use the prototyping equipment to make my own figures for our dioramas."
"Yeah," Izuku said fondly as he placed the box on the table. As he picked up the second package, Izuku was surprised by the weight. "What's this?"
"Why don't you open it and find out?"
"Of course," Izuku said softly. Peeling back the paper, he saw the signature black box that he was familiar with - the generic packaging that was used by Melissa's company for the rapid prototyping of costume designs. Or her preferred use - making action figures.
Lifting the top off of the box, Izuku gasped at the sight. "Is that-"
"Yep! It's Uncle Might in his exo-suit. I even made the suit itself out of metal!"
"This is-" Izuku felt himself tearing up.
"Oh no," Melissa's smile faltered. "Did I mess up? I thought it's been long enough that-"
"No," Izuku shook his head, trying to fight the tears. "These are happy tears. Thank you, Mel."
"You're welcome," Melissa gave her husband a soft smile. "I thought you'd want to remember him this way."
"Yeah," Izuku bobbed his head as he looked at the figure in the box, representing All Might in his true final battle. The one where he paid the ultimate price, delaying AFO so that Izuku could defeat Tomura Shigaraki. "I do."
Once they were done with presents, Izuku admitted that he didn't really want to go anywhere, he was more than happy to simply stay in his nest on the couch. So instead they watched a movie. At the insistence of his partners, Izuku finally chose Nova Rangers 4, the start of a new trilogy about a band of heroes defending the galaxy from evils lurking in the depths of space. It was the perfect blend of their interests, and the series quickly became a favorite for the three of them.
As the movie played, Izuku tried his hardest to stay awake. He really did! But between the weight of his blanket and the warmth of love he felt emanating from his partners pressed against him, he felt sleep's siren call as the day's exhaustion caught up. So despite his best efforts, he lost his first battle of the day as sleep eventually claimed him.
"Looks like Izu fell asleep," Ochako whispered during a quiet moment of the movie.
"I'm surprised he lasted that long," Melissa said as she looked over at her partner.
"Me too," Ochako said as she gave Izuku a warm look. "I guess we're sleeping on the couch tonight?"
"Mhm," Melissa said. "I don't mind though."
"Me neither," Ochako agreed as she grabbed the remote to turn off the television.
Taking turns, the two quickly changed into their pajamas before returning to the couch, their blankets in hand. Settling back in, they each gave Izuku one final glance before closing their eyes.
"Goodnight Izu."
"Happy birthday."
