Work Text:
Despite what many believe, Dazai and Chuuya get along quite well. They were nearly inseparable, and even though they fight and disagree far more often than anyone else. Their teamwork was known by people inside and outside of the Port Mafia, as they were an infamous duo.
Which also meant that people gossiped about them, and got into their personal business, and information.
That was something they were both aware of, but mostly ignored in favour of choosing who their next prank victim would be. Unless what was being said was insulting, or making fun of them, then there would be a bit more attention paid to it. Along with a possible punishment for the ones saying it.
That was what was happening this particular day.
Dazai’s ribs were aching, and Chuuya had told him to not put his binder on, since it would just make the pain worse. They were reluctant to go out while wearing a bra, but he knew they had missions to lead, and that leaving the redhead to handle everything alone would just cause more trouble. So, he went out, his jacket pulled on properly, so he could use it to hide his chest.
It made the day more uncomfortable for him than it usually was, but it was mostly fine. He got his work done, and was able to almost completely push it out of his mind. Whenever he’d get to in his head, Chuuya would try to make him laugh, saying things that were absolutely ridiculous. Dazai was thankful for the attempts to make him feel better.
The joking and happy environment was ended when the two of them overheard some whispers. At first it seemed like the normal gossip, until one of them brought up Dazai’s chest, and started making fun of him for being trans. As soon as the two of them realized what was being said, Chuuya was prepared to murder the people saying those words.
They were just meant to be waiting for the target, and then shooting to kill, but it seemed their target wouldn’t be the only one dying. Glancing over at Dazai, Chuuya saw him clenching his fists, and trying to not tear up and give the assholes the satisfaction of upsetting the Demon Prodigy. Lightly grabbing his hand, he leaned over to whisper to them.
“Let’s teach those fuck faces a lesson, cause I’m not gonna let them say shit like that,” Chuuya was far more serious than usual, which was why Dazai nodded in agreement.
Usually they’d let people just say whatever and suck it up, even if it sucked, so having someone who encouraged them to stand up to the assholes made them feel better. Squeezing the hand he’d been offered, the duo walked over to the gunmen. None of them realized until it was too late, and a foot collided with one of their spines.
Chuuya didn’t care if the man’s spine was broken, he was beyond pissed. Nobody got to say anything rude about Dazai that wasn’t him because he avoided things that would actually hurt his feelings. Just beside him, the brunette was looking like he wanted to commit murder.
“If I ever hear any of you say shit like that again, you’ll be wishing for a faster death. For now, we’ll just be teaching you a lesson, while you hope not to end up in a body bag,” Chuuya threatened, fully prepared to kill them all.
Shots were fired, and Chuuya beat the men to the point that they were hardly recognizable, but still breathing. None of the other grunts said a word the whole time, and it was clear that it would spread around the mafia to not talk badly about their superiors for their gender. It was also very likely that Mori and Kouyou would get an earful about the violence displayed by the duo.
However, after the mission, when returning to their apartment covered in blood, Dazai felt a lot better than he did earlier in the day. Entering the bathroom to rinse off the blood, with Chuuya on his heels. The redhead was going to make sure he didn’t just use water, and actually cleaned himself with soap. Along with conditioning his hair, just to make it softer to play with.
Chuuya wouldn’t admit it, but he needed Dazai help to get out of his binder. The younger mafioso chuckled a bit at the sight of his partner wiggling helplessly in his binder, arms stuck up. But, he did help, knowing he’d get left like that if he needed help, if he decided to be a jerk.
After getting clean, the two collapsed onto the couch together. Grabbing controllers from the coffee table, Dazai glanced at Chuuya’s phone. Checking to make sure the other was ordering crab. Upon seeing what he wanted, he turned on the console, and handed over one of the controllers.
“Loser has to pay,” Dazai shouted, pressing play.
“Oh you’re on!” Chuuya loudly responded.
Dazai ended up winning, but still handed Chuuya the money for his portion. He felt like he had to pay back the kindness of the redhead helping him kick the asses of the men who were making transphobic comments about him. Plus, it wasn’t very expensive, and they didn’t want to cause more trouble for Chuuya.
When they handed over the money, he gave them a weird look. Taking it, but knowing that something was up. He wouldn’t push it, since that just wasn’t his thing. If it wasn’t a big problem, he’d leave it be, not wanting to make something little, bigger than in had to be.
Leaning back on the couch, both of them digging into their food, Dazai felt thankful. There weren’t many people who would stand by his side, let alone stand up for him. Perhaps he’d hold back on his messy pranks, just to show his appreciation.
