Tim was moping around after he got the news his dad died. He didn’t know how to mope, but he was sure doing a pretty good job of it.
He was at work just getting ready to start roll call when he got the news, and everyone looked at him like he was someone else. He ran into the locker room and cried. He changed back into his civilian clothes and went to greys office.
“What happened” Grey asked.
“Genny just texted me saying are dad died. “Tim said in tears.
Grey got up and hugged him. Tim felt relaxed in his arms.
“Take a week off. Come back with a clear head. You got plenty of time. I don’t want you back until you’re good to go” grey said looking Tim in the eyes.
Tim nodded and headed to his truck. He took time off of work. Even though that’s where he needed to be. He sat in his truck thinking Grey right about not having a clear head. Plus, he was right again. He didn’t need Tim risking himself out on patrol when he wasn’t in the right headspace.
Tim walked to his room and flopped down on his bed face first. Kojo jumped on the bed and curled up next to him. Tim falls asleep due to all the crying and moping around he’s done. Kojo rests his head on Tim’s back and watches his human sleep. Lucy came over on her lunch break to bring Tim his lunch. Since he probably hasn’t ate all day. She opens the door and sees it’s quiet.
“Tim. Kojo where are you guys” she asked.
Before her eyes Kojo comes running out.
“Hey buddy where’s your human” she asked petting him.
Kojo takes Lucy to where Tim was sleeping. Lucy sees Tim face first sleeping. She goes and puts the lunch in refrigerator. She turns around and sees Tim come out of his room.
“Hey” Tim said softly.
“Hey, are you ok” Lucy asked as he sits at the counter.
“No, Lucy I feel like my dad was right” Tim said as he drinks the soda Lucy brings him.
“What was that turd right about” Lucy said shocked.
“That I was weak. I just feel like alone” Tim said.
Lucy couldn’t believe Tim. She was about ready to slap him.
“Timothy David Bradford you are not alone. You got everyone in that station. Me, Aaron, Angela, Nyla even though you can’t stand her, Nolen, Grey. Tim you are the best friend I could ever wish for. What your dad did was horrible. I never wish that upon anyone, but you Tim are a great guy. You are worthy” Lucy said sitting on the chair next to him.
“Lucy it’s not my dad to. It brings back those moments where Isabel pops into my head” Tim said.
“How” Lucy asked
“Those nights when I was alone reminded me how she neglected me. Part of are vows. Lucy before you came along, and I had 11 other rookies. Once I contemplated suicide that’s how alone I felt. I never told anyone because I hid it at work.” Tim said.
“Tim, you don’t need anyone like that you are worthy remember that”. No matter what I am a phone call away. That’s why I came to check on you and Kojo” Lucy said.
“How about to show you how worthy I am to have you in my life. Dinner here after your shift” Tim said smiling.
“I’d like that Bradford” Lucy said.
Tim kisses her before she had to leave. After Lucy was done with work she heads over to Tim’s. She uses the same key that she used before and sees him watching tv. A different sight.
“Hey, pizza is on its way, and I went shopping for your favorite wine and some snacks for a movie. Or we could have some naked time” Tim said stopping his show.
“What were you watching and where is Kojo” Lucy asked.
“Kojo is with the neighbors for the night. I told them I wanted you tonight so, and I was watching a reality tv show called Survivor” Tim said getting up.
“Tim, I never pictured you as the reality type I thought you’d watch only sports” Lucy said before the doorbell rang.
Tim goes and gets the pizzas. Lucy pours them each a glass of wine.
“Ok so I ordered. Meat lovers for me, sausage, and pepperoni, for when the kids come with Genny to start funeral planning tomorrow, and veggie and pineapple for you. For dessert cinnamon sticks” Tim said
Lucy smiled and took a slice. Tim follows suit and takes his plate and wine to the coffee table.
“So how are you feeling since this morning” Lucy said sitting down next to him.
“I am better. I took Kojo on about two different walks that helped. I may or may not have gone and acted like a child at the park, sliding down the slide and swinging, but no one cared. Did some workouts in the garage. Ate and watched tv. Genny called she is coming to start planning the funeral. Even though I said I am not going. If I do it is for her” Tim said as he drinks his wine.
“Tim, that turd he messed you up badly. You know when you did those tests to me my rookie year. Those tests proved you are nothing like your turd of a dad. You’re a strong person who learned to use those traumas to better you as a man. That’s the Bradford I know and love. “Lucy said.
“Lucy, I think I am just learning how to love myself again” Tim said as he cleans up the plates.
“And you are and you’re doing a hell of a job” Lucy said sipping on her wine.
‘Thanks so what movie do you want to watch. What snacks do you want” Tim asked.
“More wine and some of that chocolate covered popcorn. The movie you can choose” Lucy said.
Tim brings the wine and popcorn.
“How about 27 dresses” Tim said.
“I’d like that” Lucy said.
“So do I plus knowing are track record we’ll be making out halfway through” Tim said putting the DVD in.
Lucy pours more wine in her glass knowing Tim was right. Tim comes back and cuddles with her as the movie starts. As Tim was right. They started making out halfway. Tim looked at Lucy.
“I feel better now” Tim said.
“I am glad that is what the doctor ordered” Lucy said.
They made out the rest of the movie making out. After the make out session Lucy holds Tim.
“So, what was the lesson you learned today Timmy” Lucy asked.
“Don’t be afraid to ask for help” Tim moaned.
“Good now go to sleep you got a long day” Lucy said.
Tim gets up off the couch and looks at her.
“Coming” Tim asked.
“I thought you wouldn’t ask” Lucy said as she follows Tim.
Tim takes her to his bed and smiled. They knew that they were needed for each other.
