Work Text:

Utau was pretty.

No, Utau is still incredibly pretty. She always looked beautiful whenever Amu saw her, even when she was Amu's enemy.

In comparison, Amu really was just a nobody. The actual Amu, that is. Not the imagined cool and spicy Amu that her schools had constructed.

She supposes that could be the same for Utau, though she was becoming much more honest with herself as of late. But, even so… she was on a completely different level to Amu.

Utau had invited her to another one of her concerts again.

It was a little embarrassing, feeling like a fish out of water surrounded by the idol otaku that Utau attracts. Though, now she was feeling more like a packed sardine considering how cramped the livehouse had become.

Even after watching her live so many times now… she was still so radiant. The way the light reflected against her golden hair seemed to make her glow brighter than ever. The venue was absolutely sweltering from the summer heat and the max capacity attendance, but Utau seemed to not even break a sweat.

At some point, she had stopped waving her penlight, growing far too enamored by the idol on stage.

She… really was a lot like Dia. Like Amulet Diamond. No – far more radiant than Amulet Diamond could ever be. It was no wonder why Dia had chosen her. And she was shining brighter than ever.

Rather than the cold, sharp eyes she had when working for Easter, and her calm and cool voice, she sang with so much candor and heart.

Amu felt her heart beating faster.

She hadn't realized Utau's song had finished until she heard the cheers and claps of the rest of the audience. Not wanting to miss out on showing her support, she joined them with vigor. It doesn't matter if it wasn't in her character.

Amu wanted to see how much brighter Utau would shine. She'd have to ask her for a ticket to her next concert.
