Chapter Text
Love interest; A theme; A center of one’s affection. To Yuuichirou Amane, who had gone through years without one, he can safely assume that he doesn’t need one.
He’d rather be some sort of sword-wielding protagonist fighting against vampires in a post-apocalyptic world. That would be rad.
But this is real life, there are no vampires, demons, seraphs, or any other supernatural entities aside from humans. Instead of seeking revenge, he needs to seek for… you’ve guessed it, a date.
- Wedding.
- Date.
- Proper attitude.
- Try to look like a decent human this time because it is a fucking wedding and for once I’d like to have the center of attention to something positive.
The words highlighted in the letter sent by Yuu’s father. The words were once again repeated and emphasized in a phone call which was also repeated in an email again by his father.
“If I ask why, will you stop groaning?” Mika demands as he plays with his phone on the other side of the room. One of the pros of having no classes this morning is that Yuu can groan all day after and one of the cons is that his roommate has a lot to say about it.
Yuu takes the letter and jumps on Mika’s bed. He lies beside Mika and hands him the letter. He can’t help but watch Mika read it. How absurd, you might think. Watching someone read is like watching paint dry but it’s different for Yuu if it’s Mika. To Yuu, it’s quite something to watch Mika’s expression change from bored to impress whenever he reads something. Yuu can’t explain it but it’s just the way Mika does the things he does that captivates him.
“Earth to Yuu-chan! Still here or what?” what? Yuu’s in too deep that he doesn’t realize that Mika’s been talking to him.
“What?” Yuu asks, sitting up straight this time.
“I said I don’t see why you could be groaning. I mean, it’s a celebration where you can drink as much as you want and your family can’t stop you” Mika reasons. Well he’s not wrong except…
“I need-“
“To look decent?” Mika asks, pointing to the highlighted words.
“Well… yeah” Yuu nods. That’s not the first problem but since they’re already discussing the wedding they might as well talk about that. “I’m 100% sure my definition of decent is far too different from my dad’s” he continues. As someone who never been to a wedding, Yuu doesn’t even know what kind decent the wedding needs him to be.
“I can help you with that. Falling in love easily runs in my family so there’s usually a wedding.” Mika shrugs. He points to the next words highlighted.
“Proper behavior…” Yuu ends with a nervous laugh. He remembers that one time during a family reunion. He didn’t even drink and yet he found himself already broken three tables and screaming profanities. It was probably his dad’s fault.
“I can help you with that. We’ve only met months ago and yet I got you to behave whenever we eat at fancy restaurants.” Mika smiles at Yuu. That’s only because if Yuu behaves, Mika showers him with compliments and ice cream.
All there’s left now is the actual reason why Yuu’s been groaning; a date. The wedding is set on their sem break which is a week from now. You can’t just go up to someone and ask them to meet your family. Unless of course… it’s Mika?
Mika would be the perfect date! Fake date. Not an actual date. Yuu was never interested in finding an actual date in the first place. Anyways, Mika would be perfect for Yuu. He knows all of Yuu’s fears, hopes, and dreams. There’s no reason why he shouldn’t bring him… or is there?
“What is your weakness?” Yuu blurts out. He’s never seen Mika getting allergies before so it’s best to know first since his family is always up to something.
“ I… fall in love easily” Mika answers, looking Yuu in the eye as he bites his lips. That wasn’t the answer Yuu was hoping for but okay. Yuu thinks for a reason why that should stop Mika from being his date. Fake date.
“Well shit, my cousins are raging pansexuals. You can’t meet them! I guess I can’t take you.” Yuu sighs, lying back on Mika’s bed.
“Wait what?” Mika asks. For a moment Yuu thought they were on the same page apparently no, they were not.
Yuu takes one of Mika’s pillows and covers his face with it. He’s too embarrassed to tell Mika that he thought of dating him. Fake dating him. That doesn’t stop Mika from shaking him until he gives a reply.
“Yuu-chan!” Mika tries to take the pillow from Yuu. He couldn’t no matter how hard he pulls it; Yuu has a strong grip on it.
After 5 minutes of what felt like tug of war, Yuu faces the consequences and loses the strong grip. Mika thinks he finally won but before he could successfully take the pillow, Yuu lets it go. He grabs Mika’s arm and pulls him down with him.
“I… “, Yuu starts. He turns to his side so that they’re face to face. He takes a deep breath and leans in. “need. a. date.” Yuu emphasizes each word. He doesn’t know what to expect but even so, he hopes Mika has a solution.
Mika opens his mouth but before he could form a coherent sentence, the door burst open. There, standing on the doorway, is Mika’s friend (who happens to live across the hall) Lacus.
“Yo MikaaaaaaaaaaaaAAH OH MY GOD” Lacus yells, covering his eyes with his hands. They would ask him why he’s doing that when they’re both fully clothed but they both don’t care enough to do that. “You should’ve locked the door-“
“Lacus, what the hell” Mika interrupts. He sits up straight and glares at his friend.
“Chill, dude. I just want you to check out what’s wrong with my computer. It keeps freezing whenever I visit this dating site. I can’t score some chicks Idk what’s wrong.” Lacus explains. He still has his hands covering his eyes. Yuu finds it amusing that Mika’s not telling him that he can stop doing that.
“It’s probably you but come on let’s check it out.” Mika offers, following Lacus outside.
Dating site, huh? That’s it!
Yuu moves back to his side of the room and starts looking for his laptop.
