Work Text:
The rain was pouring down, no one in Gibraltar expected this weather, but what better than to have a day off. Many officers simply did not leave their rooms, while the younger ones gathered in the main room to watch movies and organise "friendly" video game competitions that ended in verbal conflicts escalating into worrying events.
In Hanzo's case, he just wanted to relax in his comfortable room reading a book accompanied by a hot drink, obviously tea.
From time to time, Hanzo turned his gaze to the window where he watched the drops hitting the glass, accompanied by the unique sound of rain.
However, a thought crossed his mind: this situation is calmer than usual.
Now he is restless, he looks around the room without finding anything out of the ordinary, nor Genji at his window to disturb him. Something is definitely not right.
And like a prophet, the door opened wide to reveal Cole Cassidy, or better known to Hanzo, his idiot cowboy. Immediately, Hanzo could tell that Cole was soaking wet, as if he'd ever think of taking a bath in the rain, though it didn't sound like a bad idea.
Hanzo only diverted his thoughts to the side to take action and start questioning his partner, "Please tell me you even thought twice about it."
Cass merely gave him a smile of guilty innocence, affirming the archer's statement.
The Japanese only gave a sigh. "I should have known better. Come in, strip down, and take a hot shower."
"And would you grant me the gift of joining me?" he mentions with his trademark impish grin, only to be greeted by a pillow. "Well, your loss."
Hanzo just wanted a quiet rainy day, however, he didn't want it to turn into a dirty intimacy party. That would be for another time.
The rain picked up and it looked like it wouldn't stop for a long while, so Hanzo decided to continue his reading. It wasn't long before Cole came out of the shower wearing only boxers, and Hanzo avoided paying attention to him.
However, that didn't mean he wouldn't make room in his bed for the two of them to be together. Cassidy walked over to lie down next to Hanzo and hugged him lovingly.
"What a day," she mentioned after giving him a couple of kisses on the forehead.
"That doesn't take away from the fact that you came into our room smelling like a wet dog."
"Please, Hanny, you'd do the same," she protested. "The rain is unpredictable, strong, mysterious, but sometimes it reflects tranquility, peace and hope." The embrace grew stronger after Cass's confession.
In Hanzo's opinion, rain is one of his favourite climates, but that Cole had described it identically was rather flattering, if you asked him.
Maybe it was reflex, or maybe Hanzo was just more open with his emotions, but he curled up so that he felt comfortable next to Cole's body.
Putting aside his book, all he wanted now was to be next to Cole, listening to the rain.
