“You both know that we’ll help you in any ways we can, right? Anything you need, we’ll be there for you,” Namjoon offered.
When he said anything, he never could have fathomed that Hyejin and Wheein would ask this of him. He suddenly felt light-headed. It was like he was no longer sitting at the table with his friends and his partners, but rather floating above them, weightless as he let their request sink in. He was pretty sure his mouth dropped open in his shock. (‘You’re catching flies,’ he could hear his father’s voice in the back of his head. ‘Close your mouth. You look ridiculous.’) His eyes felt dry, but he couldn’t remember how to blink. His stomach was twisting up on itself and was his heart supposed to be beating this quickly?
A few silent moments passed like this with Namjoon just… processing.
“Joon-ah?” Yoongi patted his shoulder gently and Jimin was looking at him with wide, expectant eyes. Right. Hyejin and Wheein had been really anxious about asking him and were probably stewing in their nerves while they waited for him to react. (‘Men never hesitate.’) He needed to say something.
