Chapter Text
The stars were overhead though seeing them without Skyfire made them seem dull and lifeless even. The spot Starscream had chosen to view them, while beautiful, was not anywhere near as spectacular as the ones he had seen with Skyfire. It took him an earth minute after get to the spot to notice the sound of rustling leaves.
“Of course you followed me,” Starscream sighed, knowing all too well who it was.
“Sorry, I just wanted to make sure you were doing all right,” Rose said with a level of concern which would have seemed like pity coming for someone older.
“I alright, now you best be going back now Cometstorm is probably wondering where you are,” Starscream said quietly knowing all too well that wouldn't get Rose to go away.
“Starscream, what happened,” Rose said with a look of seriousness that was unnerving to someone so you.
“Couldn’t sleep,” Starscream said.
“Skyfire,” Rose asked even though she knew the answer.
“Yes, ever since I lost him in the Primus forsaken storm no one has given a slag about me. Actually that is not entirely true my trine has but no one else,” Starscream yelled.
“Well I do, Uncle Screamer and If he’s still out there I will help you find him,” Rose smiled, obviously trying to lighten his mood.
“Thank you, did you bring that astronomy book,” Starscream said, a sly smile creeping across his face.
“I thought you’d never ask,” Rose said, grabbing the book out of her bag and quickly flipping to the constellations map, “Bet I can spot more than you.”
“You’re on,” Starscream said, smiling.
Despite everyone he had met it was this little human who was so brave despite all she had gone through who made able to see at least some goodness in the vast universe again. As Starcream looked in stars for the shapes of things from stories he could care less about the feeling of isolation slowly melted away. They were still things out there to see and people who cared and he would find Skyfire to see it all with him. Until then he would be all right because someone believes he belongs.
