Nicky gently patted Joe's cheek to get some life into him after being hit by bullets. When Joe took a deep breath, Nicky could feel his heart beat again.
Nicky: "There's the ugly face I love."
Joe starts to complain: "Ugly face? I don't know what hurts the most: the gaping hole in my leg or that remark about my exquisite face. And for the record, you married this face more than once, which tells me you like it. No, let me rephrase the last bit; you love this face."
Nicky can't stop smiling.
Nicky: "And now I know you'll not leave me yet if you have the energy to start a discussion in the middle of a fight."
Joe: "You would get bored if we didn't have at least one discussion daily. And I say today's discussion is about how you called my face ugly."
Joe grabbed Nicky's neck to pull him down, so they could kiss him. They didn't care about the bullets flying around them right now.
Nicky: "Let's save the discussion for when we get out of here."
Nicky handed Joe a gun.
Nicky: "Because I got the feeling that you have more to add to the discussion about being dragged by me."
Nicky took a firm grip in Joe's bulletproof west.
Joe laughing: "I'll take notes along the way, so you better prepare yourself for one of the biggest discussions we have had in centuries."
Nicky: "I also have some notes you should read first. Ready?"
Joe: "As always, Babe and I can't with to see your list."
Nicky then dragged Joe to safety so his leg could heal up before they returned to the fight.
