Lap of Luxury

Summary:

Skyfire never had a proper berth to himself, nor did he ever have a partner to help him preen his plating.

Work Text:

Skyfire was eternally, almost painfully aware of his mass at every moment of existence. Even before he'd awoken in ice and was simply a scientist, working alongside his long-lost coworkers and exploring far off planets alone or with Starscream, he was aware of how much mass he had compared to the others. He'd always done his best to shrink himself as much as capable, tucking his wings in close, cornering himself, always bending and crouching despite the aches in his knee joints.

Even at his humble abode, he'd had to push two berths together and his pedes still hung off the edge. Despite his best attempts, he'd still dented his own doorways with his kibble. Smaller spaces were painfully common and he bit back every formal complaint he'd developed.

Now, though, he stretched far on the massive, plush berth underneath and couldn't even find the edges. His pedes hung off, but only because he couldn't find it himself to pull himself full onto it. The plush pad over the metal berth was thick, thick enough to cradle his frame. The blankets were silken, gliding against his frame and wrapping around him.

"At least get on the berth properly if you're going to take up so much space."

Skyfire rumbled a little laugh, turning his helm to glance over his shoulder at Starscream. He stood there with his arms crossed and hip cocked, but a half-smile on his lips. "Sorry. It's just... so much."

Starscream rolled his optics, though his wings flicked in adoration. "Yes, yes, it is quite the luxury. Get up on the berth properly, you oversized jet."

Skyfire laughed openly, feeling the gentle smack against his leg. He pushed himself up and had to crawl forward just enough to rest his helm on a thick pillow. A sigh escaped him, his frame returning to it's previously limp state.

The berth was not the only thing that fit him properly in this abode. The doorways seemed large enough for any shuttle to comfortably fit through, the balcony was wide enough for him to land on it in his alt, even the bath was massive enough for him and a trine.

He suspected a certain Air Commander had something to do with that, but he was never one to complain and he would not start. The war was over and he was living with his... science partner... once again. If his friend forced him to live with his own trine as well, he would accept it. The Command Trine certainly wouldn't be the worst living partners.

Before he could even truly consider living with them, a light frame made itself known on his lower back. Glancing over his shoulder once again, he met bright red optics. Starscream sat on his lower back, a bottle held up in his hand.

"What? Are you finally going to complain about something?"

Skyfire smiled at him. "No, Star. I don't think there is anything to complain about."

Starscream sniffed, turning up his nose. "Good. Now, open up so I can make you shine. I won't have dull bots taking up my berth."

Skyfire pressed his face into the berth, smiling widely into it. He flared out his plating and felt Starscream's slim claws dive into the gaps. He sighed through his opened vents, feeling Starscream flick tiny bits of rock and metal out of his plating.

Offlining his optics, he allowed himself to sink down and bask in the pampering touches of Starscream's deft claws. A soft cloth rubbed finish along the parts of his frame that Starscream deemed clean. The plush berth under him cradled him, silken blankets nested under him perfectly.

Before he could fully doze into a light recharge, a firm hand pushed him to roll onto his back. He complied, onlining an optic dimly to look at Starscream. He reached out as he settled back and pulled him ontop his frame.

Before Starscream could protest, he pulled him down to his lips in a chaste kiss. Barely more than a brush of his lips, but slow and sweet. He felt Starscream's claws slide along his shoulders and hold him tight, neither pulling away or pushing closer.

Starscream lightly pouted, his lips brushing against his as he spoke softly, "I'm not done with you yet."

Skyfire smiled, smoothing his hands over that beautiful frame on top of his own. "Mmm, good. I've missed you."

Starscream scoffed, pressing their lips together in a brief kiss. "Big sap."

Skyfire's smile widened and he held Starscream close until he finally demanded release. The shuttle settled down on the massive berth, stretching out his frame and letting Starscream continue his preening of his frame. He certainly didn't have a single thing to complain about now.
