Summary
While exploring the wilderness one night, brothers Philip and Caleb have a chance encounter with a witch. But much to their surprise, she doesn’t seem like the other witches outed in town. Caleb is enamored but Philip is horrified. Caleb slowly enters a crisis of faith and has to grapple with the implications of Evelyn’s existence, the feelings he develops for her, and what it means for his current understanding of the world. That very same faith begins to slowly corrupt Philip, as he beings using it to rationalize his impulsive and egotistical behavior.
Basically, this story exists because I wanted to write this story with the Boiling Isles being a foil to the real world, and the ideal escape for Caleb. It begins in Gravesfield and ends in the Boiling Isles. While it won't shy away from religious elements, it also won't tell the reader what to or what to not believe in. But there's also so much more to this than just that. But if Christianity is a sensitive subject of you, I recommend proceeding with caution.
