Chapter Text
All was dark first before he slowly opened his eyes, he then suddenly saw the shiny white ceiling of the hospital room.
He noticed a sound coming from his left side. When he turned his head to look, he saw his dear sweetheart at the time, Brook asleep, holding onto his hand.
“Hmmargh… Good morning.” He greets her
The sound of her boyfriend's voice caused Brook to wake up, happy that he was awake.
"Dewey, you're awake!”
You passed out in the sub on the way to the restaurant we were going to!”
“I did?”
"You did. You were talking, then all of a sudden you stopped and passed out.”
“What happened after I passed out?”
“We pulled the emergency brake and called the ambulance after safely getting you out of the cab."
He rested back in bed as he felt the headache from the previous night.
“How were you, sweet Crystal?
"I'm fine, but I was so worried about you. It was out of the blue!"
“Sorry for scaring you like that. I didn’t intend to cause a scene.”
"I know, but it happens. Maybe it was because of that hit that broke your nose too."
“Yeah, it was.”
He tries to get up from bed.
"Wait a moment, the doctor just wanted to check up on you."
“Where’s the doctor?”
Brook looked on the bed to find the 'call doctor' button and pressed it.
"They should be here in a few minutes."
“What do you want to talk about while we wait for them?”
"Let's talk about planning for our next date, It'll be fun while we wait." She smiled at her boyfriend.
“Ok.” He says with a small smile as he repositions himself in bed.
“Where do you want to go?”
"Maybe to the gardens or that new park, they just made! I want to get new ideas for my projects.”
“Of course. I’ll take you there.”
"We need to go to a place you want to go to as well."
“I need to go to a place that is quiet and peaceful, The boys and I looked at the new park with a few ideas but I don’t know if it’s going ahead because of my injury.”
"We can check in with them when we get out of the hospital."
“I don’t think they would mind if the both of us just go and visit the new park together,” Dewey says as strokes the right side of Brook’s face with his right hand.
Brook smiled, hoping that the doctor brought good news to her and her boyfriend.
The two shared a small kiss before there was a knock on the door.
They stop in fear as Dewey returns to bed and Brook holds his hand which he does in return.
"Hello, I'm the doctor in charge of this floor. How are you feeling?" the doctor asked as they came into the room.
“I’m… I have a headache.”
"Well, that is to be expected when you take a hard hit to the head. It's a possible concussion if you have a headache.”
He gave him a look of horror at the concussion. “I can still play correct?”
"You'll have to sit out of a couple of games just for a safety measure, but it shouldn't be an issue afterward."
“So, the entire off-season?”
"Possibly. But there is a follow-up appointment for a future date so we can recheck. If you're alright by then, we'll okay you playing Waveball again.”
“Alright. What do you want me to do now?”
"For now, just rest and take it easy. You can do light training but that's about it for right now."
“Ok. Can I leave or just wait for a few more hours?”
"One more hour and then you will get discharged.”
“Right, thank you.”
The doctor leaves the room, leaving the two by themselves again.
"Well, maybe you just need a little R and R. At least you can light train during the break.”
"Yeah..."
"Wanna talk more about the date?”
"Yes, maybe after dinner, we can go to Crystal Lake in the city. I got an idea for a project using colors!"
"Going to the lake where you beautifully came from."
"What's the little idea you have?"
“Making a building that can add a rainbow effect to light or certain colors."
"That's a cool idea."
"Maybe once we get to the lake, we'll find more ideas for the project."
"Yeah." He whispers as he rubs his forehead to ease the pain from the hit that Brook sees.
"I just hope you're alright though. I'll stay with you until we get you back to your home.”
"Ok, it just hurts up here." He says as he points at his forehead.
Brook went to touch his forehead gently.
He puts his hand over Brook's as he feels more at peace and it somehow soothes the pain.
"You will be alright, Dewey. It was a really hard hit you took during the game."
"I heard briefly that you tried to get to the bench?”
"Who stopped you?"
"The security guard did, he didn't want me to risk getting hit with anything considering I had no protective gear."
"Yeah, I probably didn't want to go with someone else last night.”
"Did you see any of my parents ' faces?
“They were the earth and air people." He internally said to himself.
"I was more focused on you, I don't think I did. I apologize."
"That's ok because you would have seen the partial shock on their face.”
"Is there anything you wish to talk about with me?”
"What are your future plans? Plan to have a family eventually? I am just curious?”
He was smiling at the future plans before freezing at the family bit, he looked at Brook who had a sneaky smile on her face.
"I'm going to continue my waveball career... I know deep down that you want a family with me."
"And I understand that you want to continue Waveball, but yes, I want a family with you."
“Now?" He teases.
"Eventually, right now would be too soon. Eventually, we will become a mama and papa.”
“Do you have any names or will we talk about that when you become prego?" He asked before poking Brook's stomach momentarily.
"We'll talk when the time comes.”
"Good. Because I got nervous for a second that you wanted a baby now.”
"Not yet, it's too soon."
"Of course it is, we're both nearly in nineteen."
"Maybe once we have a home and stable jobs, then we can think of having little ones."
"Yeah."
The remaining time passes and he gets discharged and both walk to the sub-train to head back to his house.
