Ollie hadn’t been feeling well in the lead up to the race weekend. His dad, his boyfriend and coach knew as well as the team. Although they had been keeping an eye on him, there was nothing they could do to stop him from feeling worse in the hot heat in Barcelona. The young Brit was trying to drink as much as possible but when he was feeling sick, it made him not want to put anything into his body. He was very much aware that he wasn’t eating or drinking properly but he promised himself that he would make more of an effort prior to the next race weekend.
The young Brit won the feature race on Sunday and he had no idea how he managed to survive the heat. The thought of standing on the podium in the heat was killing him. All he wanted was a cold shower.
Ollie was just glad when he made it back to the motorhome and was able to have a quiet moment to himself after he had been approached by all of the team members who wanted to congratulate him. He made the point of grabbing a bottle of water and started to drink it but he was beginning to feel sick so he stopped drinking. His vision started to go and he was regretting being on his own because he really didn’t feel good. The team were in the garage preparing for some team celebrations given that Fred had won the sprint race the previous day. Ollie made his way over to the couch as he felt dizzy. Unfortunately, he didn’t make it as far as the couch and he fainted landing in a heap on the floor.
Jak made his way over to Prema to congratulate his boyfriend on his win. He hadn’t seen the Brit since breakfast time and he was getting concerned about his boyfriend since he hadn’t been feeling so well over the whole weekend. He knew that the heat probably wouldn’t do him any good either. Before they had left the hotel, Jak had insisted to Ollie that he had to drink plenty since Barcelona was so hot. Ollie had promised to drink plenty of water that he would be peeing for the rest of the day. The young American was just glad that Ollie had his dad and coach around to look after him since he was no longer with Prema.
Jak made his way into the motorhome knowing that the team wouldn’t question his presence as they knew about the relationship. What Jak wasn’t expecting when he entered the motorhome was to find Ollie unconscious on the floor when he looked down.
“Ollie!”
The young driver rushed towards his boyfriend and he crouched down next to him. His hands were shaking as he didn’t know what to do. Eventually, he felt for Ollie’s pulse and he felt sick as it was practically racing. He then placed the back of his hand over Ollie’s forehead. It was far too hot. Jak didn’t know what to do and he was on his own.
“Ollie, Ollie, you have to wake up!”
When the young Brit didn’t budge, Jak jumped to his feet and rushed towards the door. He left the motorhome and literally spun around in circles as he was alone in the paddock. Thankfully, Charles chose that moment to walk along the paddock. Jak figured he was going to see Arthur but Jak needed help. He rushed over to the Ferrari driver and startled him as he had been looking at something on his phone.
“Charles, I need your help!”
That caught Charles’ attention. He frowned.
“What’s wrong?”
“Ollie has collapsed! I think it’s to do with the heat and he’s not been feeling very well all weekend. I don’t know what to do!”
Charles grabbed Jak’s shoulders.
“You need to calm down, you can’t help Ollie if you’re panicking.”
“Sorry.”
Charles shook his head.
“Go and keep him cool, I’ll go and get a doctor. Try and find Rene if you can.”
It wasn’t until Jak nodded and appeared to have collected himself somewhat that Charles ran back along the paddock to go to the medical centre. Jak ran back into the motorhome and searched around for some ice packs. Thankfully, he found some and placed them over Ollie. He grabbed the bottle of water that Ollie had been drinking earlier and he kept it by his side. He settled next to Ollie’s head to try and get him to wake up. After a few unsuccessful tries, Jak pulled out his phone and sighed with relief when he came across Rene’s number. He hit the call button.
Charles was running towards the medical centre and he paused when he saw Max. He wanted to go and check on Ollie himself since the Brit was a part of the Ferrari Academy. He couldn’t abandon his mission to get to the medical centre but he figured that Max could help. That was unless the Dutchman refused to listen to Charles.
“Max!”
The Dutchman rolled his eyes and ignored the Monegasque. Charles wasn’t going to back down, however.
“Max, I need your help.”
Max huffed.
“Of course you do.”
“Look I know you still hate my guts right now and you have every reason to be angry with me but I really need your help, it’s important.”
“Fine, what do you want?”
“I need you to get the medical doctor and take him to Prema.”
“Why can’t you do it yourself?”
“I need to go and find Ollie’s dad.”
“What’s happened?”
“Ollie has collapsed, he probably has heat stroke but Jak caught me in the paddock and he’s panicking. He said that Ollie has been ill all weekend. We need to get a doctor now.”
Max nodded.
“Leave it with me.”
Charles didn’t even have the time to say thank you before Max was running in the direction of the medical centre. He figured that Max was only helping because Jak had been mentioned and he was a part of the Red Bull family. For now, it didn’t matter. Max was helping and Charles was grateful. He had to forget about his ex and go and look for Ollie’s dad.
By the time Charles found Ollie’s dad and coach then took them to the Prema motorhome, Rene was already in the motorhome pacing around whilst on the phone. Jak was still sitting by Ollie’s head stroking his hair.
“Ollie!”
Ollie’s dad stepped toward and crouched down at the opposite side of his son. Gigi stood by Ollie’s feet to keep an eye on him. The young Brit was still unconscious. Charles stood hovering in the doorway as he didn’t want to crowd round the young driver.
Eventually, Max made himself known with the medical doctor alongside him. He moved to the side as the doctor stepped into the room. Max looked towards Charles who just nodded. They stood next to each other as they stood out of the way. Ollie’s dad had reluctantly shifted back slightly so that the doctor could check over his son. It was halfway through the medical examination when Ollie woke up. Everyone in the room practically let out a sigh of relief. Max gently took Charles’ arm and motioned towards the door.
“Come on, he’s in safe hands.”
Charles took one last look at Ollie who was a little bleary eyed as he glanced at everyone in the room. Ollie would be fine and he was in the best of hands so he allowed Max to take him outside the motorhome. Max let go of Charles’ arm and he was about to walk away until Charles called his name.
“Thank you for getting the doctor, Max, I was really worried about him and I knew his dad was around so I wanted him to know.”
“It’s fine.”
“Max-”
“Not now, Charles.”
Charles wanted to talk but it was clear that the Dutchman had other ideas as he walked away. The Monegasque huffed.
Meanwhile, Ollie was getting a telling off from his dad for not taking care of himself. The doctor had checked him over and he thought that it looked like heatstroke. Ollie was resting against Jak’s chest as he listened to his father as he ranted at him. Jak was just glad that Ollie was now awake even if he looked exhausted. He would later give him his own telling off but Ollie deserved to rest first. They would also need to fit in time to properly celebrate Ollie’s win.
