Work Text:
Hiccup is the school jock and Astrid is the school nerd. Complete and total opposites from each other. One is the most popular, attractive guy in school and the other is a nerdy outcast with little to no friends. As a result, most people around the school knew about them, much to the annoyance of Astrid herself, but Hiccup seemed unbothered by it all so she tried her best to care as little as she could. However, because of how popular Hiccup was, naturally, everybody wanted to know about him as much as possible, and who better to ask but the girl dating him?
That became Astrid's life. But, unexpected to everyone, they became the dream couple in school.
They never want to be apart from one another, and neither do they want to talk to anyone other than each other.
It often frustrates their friends, and many have often tried to break them up. But it never works. They always believe in each other and tell each other everything.
On Monday morning, Astrid felt really excited to get to school. Her boyfriend had been away for the past week and she couldn't wait to see him again. She walked down the corridor towards his locker and saw an auburn-haired boy standing in front of his locker. He seemed happy, and mostly content. Like a ghost that had finally found peace in the afterlife.
"Hiccup?" The boy turned around and Astrid finally saw those forest green eyes she'd been longing to see for all those weeks.
"Astrid! It's so good to finally see you!" He whipped around and embraced her tightly. Finally, he could feel the warm embrace of the girl he was head over heels for. These past few weeks without her had been hell on earth.
"I missed you..." Astrid breathed, taking in his familiar smell before finally breaking the hug.
Hiccup smiled back. He brushed a stray strand of blonde hair away from her face and cupped her cheek gently. The girl before him was more beautiful than any he had seen in his life. No one could keep him away from her.
"Me too." Hiccup replied softly as the bell rang, separating them from each other.

That night Hiccup went to Astrid's house to surprise her. He'd brought a bag of clothes for the morning and an overnight bag. Yes, he was planning to spend the night. For the first time.
Hiccup took a deep breath as the door to her house opened, and in the gap stood his divine beauty.
"Hiccup?" She asked "What are you doing here? It's like 9 pm. Shouldn't you be at home?" Hiccup pushed open the door further and allowed himself to enter.
"He gave me the night off." Hiccup answered and Astrid smiled back.
"Does that mean that you're all mine tonight?" She asked playfully, Hiccup laughing along with her.
"I guess it does." Hiccup said.
At that moment, Astrid noticed that he was carrying a bag full of clothes, as well as an overnight bag. Never before had Hiccup prepared his visit in advance like this, and never before had he looked so shy for getting ahead of himself. But now that he was here, looking to stay the night, Astrid couldn't find it within her to turn him away.
"Are you planning on staying over as well?" Hiccup whimpered at her question, which just made Astrid feel sorrier for him.
She instantly wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him softly.
Hiccup had really missed her. But he'd mostly missed this. The feeling of her lips was almost like being kissed by a goddess, and she did look like one too. She tasted sweet, like cherries, and her skin felt so soft beneath his fingers that he believed if he held her too tight he might bruise her. But Astrid clung to him tighter, deepening their kiss. Hiccup did what came naturally when it came to Astrid and pulled her close.
That night the young couple lay in Astrid's bed, chatting and laughing but mostly kissing. This was the best night that Astrid had ever had, and she knew that she would sleep well knowing she would be right beside him.
Knowing that this relationship really wasn't a dream required her to be in Hiccup's arms.

When the couple arrived at school the next day, the school bell rang immediately forcing them to head off to their first lessons.
Once Astrid arrived in class, the strangest thing happened: Heather and her popular friends asked for her to sit by them. Knowing that there was no other place to sit, she had no choice but to accept. Her mind began to race.
Why were they asking her to sit with them? What did they know about her that they suddenly took an interest in?
She wondered whether Hiccup had told anyone what had happened last night between them.
"So Astrid," Heather piped up, "How did things go with Hiccup last night?" Heather winked as she said 'last night'. Cold chills shivered down Astrid's back at Heather's words. She tried to ignore the creepy innuendos that Heather was being very unsubtle with.
"What do you mean?" Astrid queried as her stomach lurched. But Heather just laughed, her laugh holding a creepy, intimidating hint to it.
"Oh, come on." One of the girls said, "We know that you two spent the night together." Astrid went pale.
They heard about that?
"So? We usually spend the nights together. What's so important about this one?" Astrid asked them, she didn't want to jump to conclusions. She tried to sound like it wasn't a big deal, that this was nothing new between them. But deep inside, she was starting to panic.
"Well, I mean... Hiccup took your virginity, right?" Heather smiled, she looked closely at Astrid who had frozen in place. How could....?
Hiccup. He must have told them. How could he do this to her?!
"Well?" One of the girls leaned forward and asked, "How was it?!" She asked excitedly, Astrid gave the girl a hateful stare and felt her fists ball up in rage.
"You can't ask me that! I don't have to tell you anything! Nothing at all, you freaks!" Astrid yelled and rose from the table, before leaving the classroom entirely.
She was furious, Hiccup was going to die for this. How could he do that to them? He told people that they had sex! That was private and between them. She had given all of herself to him and he had barely given himself back to her. She stormed down the corridor and headed straight toward the library.
Hiccup usually hid away there when no one else is around. Astrid burst through the door and hunted Hiccup down to give him a stern telling off, but all that melted away when she saw him sobbing in their usual place at the back of the library.
"Hiccup?" She asked, severing the silence and approaching him quietly and carefully. Hiccup suddenly looked up and met Astrid's eyes, his eyes were red with shame and he felt like crying all over again when he saw Astrid's concerned eyes.
"I'm so s-s-sorry, Astrid... This is all my fault! I didn't mean for any of this to happen!" Hiccup exclaimed, he sobbed more and caused Astrid's rage to fade completely as she sat down beside him and held him in her warm embrace.
"Shhhh... It's okay..." Astrid soothed as she rubbed her hand against his back in comfort, but Hiccup just shook his head.
"All I wanted to do was tell my friends. I wanted to tell them in confidence... But they decided that meant they could go and tell everyone. I'm so sorry..." Hiccup explained, but Astrid understood.
If she had any friends apart from him, then she would want to tell them too. But Astrid only had Hiccup in her life, it was sad but she was happy. She only needed Hiccup in her life.
"Hey," She forced him to look at her, moving his face to stare at hers. "I love you, okay? We don't have to tell anyone anything. What do they fucking care anyway? We love each other. That is the most important thing in the world to me right now." Astrid admitted, her love caused a small smile to appear on Hiccup's face in response.
"I love you too, Astrid. We don't have to tell anyone anything. Anything..."
