Unexpected Outcome

Summary:

Co-workers Eren and Levi see each other at a bar. Deciding to dance together, things ramp up more than the pair expect.

Notes:

This honestly feels like it’s fit in a longer piece, but I have no plans for that atm. Just wrote this little blurb and wanted to see what people think.

Work Text:

The two are dancing, their bodies moving in sync to the beat of the music. Eren tries to ignore the way his heart is racing, pounding in time with the music. His body is reacting to Levi’s touch, in ways he’d never openly admit. He tells himself that it's just the alcohol and the atmosphere of the club that's getting to him, but he can't deny the fact that he's enjoying himself. How could he not, when he’s got one of the hottest people he knows looking at him, seemingly ready to devour him.

As the night goes on and they keep dancing, Levi and Eren grow progressively closer and closer. Until their bodies are pressed tightly against each other, shoulders bumping together as they move. Strong hands grab his hips, sealing the barely remaining space between their chests. Their faces are only inches apart. Eren feels Levi’s breath dust his lips. Levi’s eyes flick down to his mouth, then back up to meet his gaze. The tension between them is palpable, and Eren can't help but wonder if they're about to kiss.

Suddenly, Levi pulls away and takes a step back, breaking the spell between them. "I need some air," he says, his voice rough.

Eren nods, feeling disappointed and confused. His mood instantly shifts, trying and failing to will away the feeling of being rejected. He watches as Levi disappears into the crowd, leaving him standing alone on the dance floor. Maybe if he convinces himself he never wanted to kiss Levi in the first place the rejection will hurt less.

The music rings hollow as the crowd of people fade away. As if nothing happened. Eren might as well conjured the entire event in his head. Shaking away the thought, he reunites with his friends.

Eren spends the rest of the night with Mikasa and Armin, drinking and dancing, trying his best to brush off the feeling of wrongness from how his encounter with Levi ended.

The floor begins to sway underneath his feet. Armin doesn’t seem to be walking any better than him. “Okay, you two have definitely had enough. We should head home,” Mikasa ushers the boys out of the building, the only one with some sort of alcohol tolerance.

As they stumble out the door and back onto the street, Eren feels someone’s gaze on the back of his neck. He turns to see Levi, looking stressed out and ready to snap.

“You got a minute?”

Even swallows around nothing and nods, “Yeah, what’s up?”

“My…behavior earlier was inappropriate. I understand if you’d like to stop working with me.”

Ever the opportunist, Eren says, “I’ve been wanting to take you for a ride since I met you,” without a second thought about it.

Holy fuck, I did not just say that.

Levi blinks a few times. “Oh. Well. That could be arranged.”

Heat spreads across Eren’s cheeks. He’s practically vibrating in his skin.

“Eren!” Mikasa walks up to the pair, “Am I interrupting something?”

Levi cuts him off before Eren can tell her she did, in fact, interrupt them, “No, you didn’t.”

He turns his focus back to Eren, “Call me sometime. I might just take you up on that offer.” With a smirk, he takes off.

“What did you do?”

Eren scoffs, “I didn’t do anything! Why do you always assume I’m causing problems?”

A shrug, “Because you usually are. Now come on, we need to grab Armin and go.” The pair link arms together, on a mission to find their third and finally head home.
