“Sydney?” Carmy said, and he moved in closer to her, searching her eyes for some sign of explanation. “Are you okay?”
Later...
Sydney stood against the wall, her eyes glazing over, her lip being slightly bitten, squeezing the fabric of her apron…His side -
“I’m okay now.” Sydney said softly and before she could stop herself she was hugging Carmy back, relishing the feeling.
Carmy had only been holding her for a few moments, but already he dreaded letting her go. How was this possible? He’d never felt even a little bit this way about anyone. Never craved another person like a meal.
